Great video! Its nice to come across a positive driver that can provide some advice on how to handle the challenges going on in our industry right now. I’m ready to transition out of OTR and was considering LTL- thank you for sharing your experience. 😊
Thank you for the kind words and support. I did OTR for 14 years and it was a rough transition at first. Trying to get my mind out of the state of running and being gone but now that I’ve been LTL for 2 years I’m glad I made the change. It’s a good part of the industry to be in. Safe travels and good luck, be blessed.
What’s up hope all is well. I just had an interview in Ca with Old Dominion. How steady is the work in your state right now? And when are the buddy and slow times of the season I applied for a local city driver position.
It’s pretty steady right now cause of the weather had everything jammed up but it’s typically slow right now until early March then it’ll take off. If they are hiring at the terminal then they are busy. Good luck.
We overhired too many teams, plus people moving into team trucks. The industry is one thing, but us at OD specifically have to cater to those teams. I run a 638 mile bid Tuesday-Friday. Tonight on the way out, 319 miles, I've seen 7 teams so far. Canceled last night. Canceled twice last week. Cancel cancel cancel every damn week. Something has to give, and it's got to give quickly.
@@thesmallfryshow thank you I was really nervous to apply because I didn’t think they’ll accept me because of my size , I have all my endorsements I’m ready to work
Hello just found your channel. I work for the same outfit you work for, out of GBO. Just moved into a new 2024 team truck, hooking sucks , constant slams. So what do you do to help not slam the king pin, as a team you have to be gentle, not to back the person in sleepers back. No clutch , so I have spoken to a couple drivers but they all are single drivers giving some advice . I have watched videos about freight liner 7:31 creep mode. Not sure about that either, so What do you do not to slam the automatic?
Yeah it’s definitely tricky and I know what you mean. Something that seems to help is doing an extra turn on the landing gear raising it higher. It helps to keep from launching you backwards. I didn’t like the surging of it backing the trailers into the dock. It takes some practice and getting it down.
.9 seconds ? Man i have cars jump in front of me at .3 i hate it. Wish they new not to merge so close in front of a semi Its almost common sense 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Glad I found the channel bro just subscribed. Keep up these dope videos fam
Thank you. I appreciate the support and the sub. Safe travels and blessings
