Wanted to give recognition & thanks for all your help, just got my Cdl in Austin, TX. You're steps are correct but, step 2 & 3 they Change the numbers. Also the Tug test is INCLUDED on the Airbrake test in Texas. Thanks again man & keep up the great work.
Thank you so much for reaching out and offering these insights 🙏🏻 the test is influx right now as the states implement changes to the federal requirements … all the input is appreciated ✊🏻 ask the best !

Haha, best former teacher, that didn’t take long 🤣 keep me posted from the road and remember to keep an eye on flatbed, you might just change your mind, I live for the puzzle 🧩🙋🏻♂️😎
When should you bleed your air brakes? Group of answer choices Never. Only when required to by law. Only at night. Whenever you're going to be away from your vehicle.
As my CDL instructor, Danny worked diligently to prepare me for the air brake test. He challenged my efforts and corrected my errors so that I was very proficient with the air brakes. As a result, I passed on my very first attempt; I simply studied Danny's videos, practiced his methods, and I enjoyed success. Great video, Danny; I am confident that you will continue to empower current and future CDL students with knowledge and skills!

In Texas it’s an automatic fail it you turn your engine on and exit your truck to unchock the wheel like you did in your video. In Texas you must remove the key from the ignition and place it in your pocket THEN you may unchock your wheels.
@@CDLYeah you’re welcome. And yes I am. I test this coming Friday again. I just failed the exam because I wasn’t instructed that I needed to remove the key and place it in my pocket to unchock the wheels. I won’t make that mistake again lol
My test, you had to do tug test as part of the air take test, also had to state that speedometer worked during that test. If I’d of ended it as early as you did, I would have failed.
Thanks for your feedback ! The tug test and service brake test (getting up to 5 mph and braking )is separate from the air brake test, though it is part of the in cab inspection, which is the larger section that the air brake falls into. The the service brake test is where you test the speedometer and service brakes. This video only covers the air brake test. Hope that helps clarify 😁🙏🏻

If you take your test in Pennsylvania, DO NOT say 40 to 20 psi on the air valve pop outs. The new standard is 45 to 20. Also, the low air warning and buzzer is at 55, not 60. Just failed my class A pre-trip this morning.
Yes the test is changing across the different states, Missouri is still testing the old way. Thank you for your feedback. I’ll have a new pretrip video up in the next month or so as Missouri makes the change too. Did you test at Prime or elsewhere in PA ?
Immediately following this test is a great time to test that the compressor builds pressure quickly enough, since your air pressure will be low when you restart the truck (there are also other times when doing the compressor test would make sense and I'm sure you addressed it in another video). Great video, BTW; very easy to follow along and understand.

With this video definitely should pass the air breaks test no script needed just keep repeating seeing this video which I’m gonna do. But can you do a video with the steps of offsets
Thank you so much for reaching out and the support/suggestion 🙏🏻😁 If it’s the standard offset there is a video on that, hooray 🙌🏼 under the title “How to Pass Your CDL Backing - part 1” so be sure to check that out. If it is the new standard, I’ll have that video out in the next two weeks 🥳💥 lmk if I can help any other way
Hello there - 12/18-10:26 Your video is simple and very helpful. I just passed my written and studying pre trip and air brake test. Would you share your script please.
Good observation 🤓 the tug tests are definitely part of the in cab but not part of the air brake test, which is the primary focus of this video. Thanks so much for reaching out 🙌🏼
Great question! Thanks for reaching out! 😁 Yes, those are both part of the in cab section for sure. But they are not one of the three (or four) stage air brake tests. So they are not an automatic fail if you miss em. 🙌🏼
Are you chocking your steer tires because you’re not hooked up to the trailer? I’m asking very early on in the video and I apologize if I’m think way ahead.
Good question 🙌🏼 I always chock with one block under the steer on the down hill side, trailer or not, as it is easier to remove the chock after by loosening it with a few turns of the steering wheel. Chocking drive tires can require driving (forward or in reverse) to come off of the rolled position. 😁 Thanks for reaching out!
Great video man, stupid question when you turned the truck off and then turned it back over for the applied pressure test did you fully turn the truck back over?
I will be testing in Florida, home of the worst drivers on the road 🙆😆. I plan to take the test either in December or January to give myself enough time to have it all down. I currently drive a lifted F350 flatbed with 24 ft trailer towing about 12k on average and hauling another 5k so I'm hoping with about 5 years of that 5-6 days a week I'll be pretty familiar with at least the driving portion..
If you’re testing in the new year you’ll likely be taking a new, very trimmed down version of the test. The air brake will be similar but have a mandatory 4th part, filling the tanks to the cut off. I’ll have a new video up later in the year going over the new test 👍🏻 have you thought about applying to Prime ? You seem like a really good candidate. It’s a great spot.
Great questions 🙌🏼😁 First, there is a service brake test after the air brake portion, which yes requires pulling forward at 5 mph. Second, there are two air brake test styles right now as the test is changing state by state. This is an example of the 3 stage, for an example of the 4 stage with that cut off, please view my new complete pretrip video 🤓🙏🏻
That was fast… in school we are doing: Cut out Applying leaking test Low light warning device activation Brake spring pop out Plus testing PETS and interior general knowledge
Thanks so much for reaching out 🙏🏻 Yes, the terminology is a little different for ours in MO right now 🤓 you’re describing the same things except the build to cut off which is part of the new air brake test. The tug tests and interior are separate from the air brake test 👍🏻 When and where are you testing ?
Great question! 🙌🏼🤓 Different states have different requirements and some prefer you being exact, but many only need a range. Best to double check but I would err on the side of caution if you're not certain of your state's specs.
I have my cdl b already, I'm just adding my airbrake endorsement. Do I have to do the pre trip on the outside of the truck or just the in cab and brake test
Hi, Danny. I’m from NY, I just had a road test yesterday. I past the inspection, air brake and parking test, but I got fail on-road test. Do you have any trips that I can look for? On the test, I feel like I drove normal and kept in the most right lane at all time. However I just too early moved on the exit lane in the highway which is the exit-only lane, but not the correct exit I got told by, then I had to wait less than 1s at the end of lane separation to have enough room to get back in to the main highway. Also for the left turn, which lane should I approach after intersection? I thought is the most right lane but the examiner told me that I turned to the wrong lane. Now I have a bit upset about it, moreover I have no resources to know what should I look for on the “On-Road” test. Below is my results, any tips or hints I should care about for the next road test? Automatic Fail Category: Examiner took control (ETC), Fail to observe (FOB), Wrong side of road (WSR), Insufficient Skill or Practice (ISP)
Hey partner, congrats on passing your pretrip and backing tests, that’s great ! 🙌🏼🥳 Just one test to go now. There’s a lot to unpack here. Shoot me an email (dannybcrisp@gmail.com) and we’ll try to get to the bottom of all this. In the meantime, here is a link to my drive prep video for some general pointers : ruclips.net/video/deGSDQkqnpE/видео.html
@CDLYeah Hi, I would love to have one of the scripts you provide, my cdl test is next week and I've been practicing and studying my ass off. I feel like having that would just assure me passong
I use your driver's code yesterday, but these wht I need to know,I was told to have a CDL permit an rite but now I getting a message saying a dot physical, wht do I really need to have before I get to training
Where and when are you testing, the requirements for the specifics of the tests are checking across the country this year, it’s kind of influx rn … Missouri’s test changes officially Dec 4th, so a new video is pending 👍🏻
Thanks for reaching out! 🙏🏻 This is the standard ABT only, if you are looking for the full modernized in cab head over to this video here! 🙌🏼😁 ruclips.net/video/0G2pqBLowQY/видео.html
Hi, I'm just curious why you chock the front wheels? I see no requirement in any CDL handbook on which axle to chock but I thought the general consensus was to chock a rear axle. Thank you!
Great question! This is done in order to be able to loosen the chock by turn the steering wheel without having to move the vehicle into drive or reverse. It is easier to move the vehicle off of the chock.
Thanks for reaching out 🙌🏼 Where and when are you testing? This video is the three stage ABT, many US states have changed to the four stage ABT, below is a link to that newer format 🤓👍🏼 ruclips.net/video/C8JcNhpMZW0/видео.html
When you got out to chock the steer tire, you didnt turn around and back out with 3 pts of contact. You stepped forwards out. That will get you a safety warning from most trainers and could fail you. It also could cause you to slip and fall on your back and get injured. Just sayin'
When and where are you testing? The test is changing state by state, you may need to be noting the governor cut off as well. I can let you know which test your state is using, are you planning to attend Prime? Please refer to the new full pretrip video for the example of the four stage. 😁🙌🏼
Definitely! 😁 If you’re heading to Prime email me at dannybcrisp@gmail.com and we’ll get it over! Or if you’re attending another program check out the website for the Prep Packet! Cdl-yeah.com 🙌🏼🤓
Yes, great question, Prime is a one stop shop for CDL testing, OTJ training and employment. Shoot me an email and we can discuss further, dannybcrisp@gmail.com 👍🏻
I have checked that my air tanks are fully charged to 120 psi I Will now turn my truck off and turn mys ignition to the on position, I will now push in Both my brake knobs in and wait until th air tanks have settled, I do not hear any audible air leaks. With steady pressure on the brake peddle i should not lose no more then 4 psi in 1 minute, will you please time me, I did not lose more then 4 psi in 1 minute. I will now pump down the brakes once the air pressure drops to no less then 60 psi my low air warning light and alarm should activate, My low air light and alarm have activated. I will now continue to pump my brakes and both my brake valves should pop out at approxamitly 40 psi, Both my valves have poped out my air brake system is working properly. DO NOT TOUCH THE VALVES WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF THE TESTER DO NOT DO ANY THING BEFORE OR DURRING YOUR FOR BADIEM ANNOUNCEMENT AND SAY THE WORDING EXACTLY EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE SAYING THE FUNCTIONS THAT YOU NEED TO DO YOUR WORDING HAS TO BE EXACT WORD FOR WORD NO DISCUSSION AT ALL ONE MISSED WORD IS A IMEEDIATE FAIL!
@@CDLYeah i got no choice i gotta pass my car was repoed while in training and i dont get payed untill i get my cdl and my ready date after i pass im homeless n broke i can imagine others are in simalar situation.
Great question ! 👍🏼 The tug tests (and service brake test) are not part of the air brake test. Tug and Service tests are easy, separate tests you can perform after your air pressure builds back up once the protection valve portion of the air brake test is complete.
You didn't secure the vehicle, right lol you are supposed to put in first gear if it's a manual with the truck running and making sure the parking brakes are set then shut the truck off after that exit with three points of contact to chock your drive wheels not your steering wheels that makes no sense I'm still training for my CDL class A license and Massachusetts is annoying with there brake test as I've heard with the instructors like the governor should cut out between 120-140 psi or the warning nuzzer light should come on at or before 55 psi when it's usually 65 or so psi it comes on from practicing
Thanks for reaching out! Yes, Massachusetts is on the four stage modernized, so it is a little different from this one. New modernized video is coming out here this week! Keep an eye out. 😁
For refresh it's ok... But for beginners not, because...where is the air tanks gauge ? There are only one tank ? Can you show when those are in 120 or more psi? Close the Camara that not drop. It's necessary to move the wheel, After test ?
Thank you so much for reaching out! The primary and secondary air gauges are able to be seen clearly at minute 4:20-4:44 😁 and yes you’ll remove the chock after the test as before you’re tug tests. This video only covers the 3 stage ABT. Plz lmk if I can help with anything else!
Great question. The governor cut off is referenced but not denoted in this style off test. Depending when and where you are testing you may have a three stage or four stage air brake test. If you head to the newest “full pretrip” video it shows the four stage test 👍🏻
The test standards are changing state by state right now, you may have the new standard thresholds, which are a little different. If you watch my latest pretrip prep video it has the new standard for those in states testing with the new format. Check that one out to see if it’s more familiar 👍🏻
Hello thanks for your very well explanation , but I have questions doing break tes, specific in 2do, step , 4psi is for strength truck end 3psi is for tractor end trailer be cause it’s 2 difieren area eir amplíen : do I ron? Please let me know please
The permit test length varies state to state, but typically includes at least 3 sections, General, Combination and Air Brakes. The CDL exam is an oral pretrip exam, a backing exam and a driving exam... there is no written component to the actual CDL Exam. 🤓🙌🏼
@@CDLYeah I’m in Missouri it says general knowledge is 50,25and 20 what does that mean it’s 90 question on the test or just 50 questions broken into three parts ???

@@CDLYeah I messaged you on Instagram same name as I have on here minus the 305 but I looked up the company and am very interested!
What about the “Static” test where you don’t lose no more than 3 psi in a combination vehicle with the brakes not pressed down?
Great question, when and where are you testing ?
I only have my permit, but I am planning on getting my CDL license as soon as possible.
Great content! Keep it up Danny!
Thanks so much friend, looking forward to the next run in 💪🏻😎
You're the best! But, do you always get out of the cab that way (facing the outside without 3-points-of-contact)?
Haha, great job, I put that in to test ya 🤓
For the air break sometimes you have to drive forward for the air break test? Also do you say governor cut out for the air break test 120-140?
Great questions 🙌🏼😁 First, there is a service brake test after the air brake portion, which yes requires pulling forward at 5 mph. Second, there are two air brake test styles right now as the test is changing state by state. This is an example of the 3 stage, for an example of the 4 stage with that cut off, please view my new complete pretrip video 🤓🙏🏻
That was fast… in school we are doing:
Cut out
Applying leaking test
Low light warning device activation
Brake spring pop out
Plus testing PETS and interior general knowledge
Thanks so much for reaching out 🙏🏻 Yes, the terminology is a little different for ours in MO right now 🤓 you’re describing the same things except the build to cut off which is part of the new air brake test. The tug tests and interior are separate from the air brake test 👍🏻 When and where are you testing ?
@@CDLYeah i see it might be a lil
Different and im in California im practicing in the streets once i pass that then I’ll get scheduled for my DMV test
Good video👍 Very informative
Thanks so much for reaching out 🙏🏻 glad the content is helpful 😁
EXCELLENT instructions
THANK YOU so much for reaching out with the support 🙌🏼😁
How can I get a copy of the script?? Very helpful!
Hey thanks for the support and for reaching out! Send me an email and I’ll get it over to ya 🙌🏼😁
This is great but you have to be exact precise when saying where your needle is at for every test. Cannot say “ around “ “ between”
Great question! 🙌🏼🤓 Different states have different requirements and some prefer you being exact, but many only need a range. Best to double check but I would err on the side of caution if you're not certain of your state's specs.
You explained this perfectly I needed a quick refresher
Awesome 😁 so glad to hear it was helpful
I have my cdl b already, I'm just adding my airbrake endorsement. Do I have to do the pre trip on the outside of the truck or just the in cab and brake test
Great question, when and in which state are you testing?
awesome explanation. Instant subscribe.
Awesome, thank you! 🙏🏻😁
liked and subscribed, thank you very much, very helpful.
So glad the content is helpful 🙌🏼 lmk if there’s any topics you’d like to see covered 🤙🏼
Keep doing great work my friend
Be safe ✌
Likewise amigo, I always appreciate your feedback, great videos, strong securements ! Keep leading dude
After the tractor and trailer knobs pop out, do you have to remove your key and take it with you to remove the chocks?
Good question 🙋🏻♂️ no you do not 😎 your program might ask that you do that, but it is not a requirement for any state test I’ve ever heard of 👍🏻

Automatic Fail Category:
Examiner took control (ETC), Fail to observe (FOB), Wrong side of road (WSR), Insufficient Skill or Practice (ISP)
Yes sirrrrr another great video
Myyyyyyy dude 🙌🏼😎 hmu, how’s CA ? Any news ?!
But what about the second safe start? Before the tug test
Second safe start? 🤔 Not sure I know what you’re referring to. Service brake test? Or Governor cut off? Can you elaborate? 🙏🏻
@@CDLYeah Right after emergency spring break test put on neutral restart engine & build up air pressure to 120 140psi

I use your driver's code yesterday, but these wht I need to know,I was told to have a CDL permit an rite but now I getting a message saying a dot physical, wht do I really need to have before I get to training
Great questions, which recruiter are you working with and I’ll see what’s what ?
Hardest part for me, and a lot of students, is doing the tractor and trailer brake tests. A lot of guys do steps or of order and get an instant fail.
Thanks for reaching out! 😁🙏🏻 Where are you studying?
@@CDLYeah This was a few years ago at a 160 driving academy in oregon.
I see 😁 are you needing to retest or do you still have your CDL?
@@CDLYeah Nah I'm doing okay. Got my hazmat and was hauling that for a while, now I'm working a little closer to home running flatbed.
I need thus script and also need how to conduct my tug test and service brake test and static leak test scripts to as well
For sure ✊🏻 what’s an email for ya ?
You explaing very well
Thanks for the support 🙏🏻
Do you have to do the air compressor test build psi b/w 85-100 psi within 45 secs
Where and when are you testing, the requirements for the specifics of the tests are checking across the country this year, it’s kind of influx rn … Missouri’s test changes officially Dec 4th, so a new video is pending 👍🏻
The best explanation
Thanks so much for taking the time to support! 🥳🙏🏼
Gotta do seat belt and tug inspection
Thanks for reaching out! 🙏🏻 This is the standard ABT only, if you are looking for the full modernized in cab head over to this video here! 🙌🏼😁

You have this Pre Trip to the exact for DOT.
Thanks for the support ✊🏻😁
Hello. Thanks for the informative video! I'm about to take my Class 3 and Airbrake. I'd like a copy of your script please. Thanks again.
Absolutely, send me your email and I’ll get it to you asap 🤙🏼
Sent!@@CDLYeah
You did a couple things wrong- in my neck of the woods this wouldn't pass. Testing must not be too strict where you are.
Thanks for reaching out 🙌🏼 Where and when are you testing? This video is the three stage ABT, many US states have changed to the four stage ABT, below is a link to that newer format 🤓👍🏼
ruclips.net/video/C8JcNhpMZW0/видео.html
When you got out to chock the steer tire, you didnt turn around and back out with 3 pts of contact. You stepped forwards out. That will get you a safety warning from most trainers and could fail you. It also could cause you to slip and fall on your back and get injured. Just sayin'
Thanks so much for reaching out Dennis and great attention to detail 🧐🙌🏼
Just using your name as referring driver right now on my PSD packet
Nice 😎🤙🏼 definitely let your recruiter know too asap ! Which terminal are you at ? Hmu with any questions plzzzz
what about the governor cut out? isnt that the first step?
When and where are you testing? The test is changing state by state, you may need to be noting the governor cut off as well. I can let you know which test your state is using, are you planning to attend Prime? Please refer to the new full pretrip video for the example of the four stage. 😁🙌🏼
Yes im in California@@CDLYeah
Do you this test every time you drive or at least once every month....
Daily to check for leaks and functionality 👍🏻
Hey I’m ready to get my CDL
That’s great !! You got it 🤓📚🤙🏼
@CDLYeah this was a great video and helped me to better understand the reasons for the test. Can you please send me the success scripting?

i am in the process of getting my permits at my local dmv , does prime hire people with 0 experience ?
Yes, great question, Prime is a one stop shop for CDL testing, OTJ training and employment. Shoot me an email and we can discuss further, dannybcrisp@gmail.com 👍🏻
I have checked that my air tanks are fully charged to 120 psi I Will now turn my truck off and turn mys ignition to the on position,
I will now push in Both my brake knobs in and wait until th air tanks have settled,
I do not hear any audible air leaks.
With steady pressure on the brake peddle i should not lose no more then 4 psi in 1 minute, will you please time me,
I did not lose more then 4 psi in 1 minute.
I will now pump down the brakes once the air pressure drops to no less then 60 psi my low air warning light and alarm should activate, My low air light and alarm have activated.
I will now continue to pump my brakes and both my brake valves should pop out at approxamitly 40 psi,
Both my valves have poped out my air brake system is working properly.
😁 love the intensity 🙌🏼
@@CDLYeah i got no choice i gotta pass my car was repoed while in training and i dont get payed untill i get my cdl and my ready date after i pass im homeless n broke i can imagine others are in simalar situation.
Hello, how can I get a copy of your script?
Thanks!
Hey there ! Email me at dannybcrisp@gmail.com and I’ll get it over 🙌🏼😁
Is the tug portion part of the air brake test?
It's necessary to move the wheel,
After test ?
Thank you so much for reaching out! The primary and secondary air gauges are able to be seen clearly at minute 4:20-4:44 😁 and yes you’ll remove the chock after the test as before you’re tug tests. This video only covers the 3 stage ABT. Plz lmk if I can help with anything else!
When should you bleed your air brakes?
Great question, when and where are you testing ?
@@CDLYeah Online
When the training isn't strict and super easy then everybody will pass. Training needs to be more strict to eliminate the bad students
You think? Like how exactly? 🤔😁
For real than there’s student like me that fall behind because of bad students
No, lots of people fail depending on what state you’re in. It is strict. It costs $7000 to get training for CDL and your license.
??? What happened to your air buildup and pressure cut out time test????
Great question. The governor cut off is referenced but not denoted in this style off test. Depending when and where you are testing you may have a three stage or four stage air brake test. If you head to the newest “full pretrip” video it shows the four stage test 👍🏻
The pressures must vary by state.
The test standards are changing state by state right now, you may have the new standard thresholds, which are a little different. If you watch my latest pretrip prep video it has the new standard for those in states testing with the new format. Check that one out to see if it’s more familiar 👍🏻
I thought the standards were federal. Set by FMCSA.
Hello thanks for your very well explanation , but I have questions doing break tes, specific in 2do, step , 4psi is for strength truck end 3psi is for tractor end trailer be cause it’s 2 difieren area eir amplíen : do I ron? Please let me know please
Hey there, thanks for reaching out. When and where are you testing ?
How many questions are on the cdl written test all together??
The permit test length varies state to state, but typically includes at least 3 sections, General, Combination and Air Brakes. The CDL exam is an oral pretrip exam, a backing exam and a driving exam... there is no written component to the actual CDL Exam. 🤓🙌🏼
@@CDLYeah I’m in Missouri it says general knowledge is 50,25and 20 what does that mean it’s 90 question on the test or just 50 questions broken into three parts ???
I just passed my CDL test a few days ago just bye watching this video , great video for your air brake test 👍🏾
Thanks so much for the support, so glad the content was beneficial to you and a big congrats on passing your test !! 🥳🙌🏼
