Joined at 18, got out after 4 years due to family problems. I'm looking at rejoining this week at the age of 28 and I cannot wait! I'm married and I've been told that Alaska is in desperate need of people and they're taking volunteers to go there. We will see come Wednesday!
@denelson joseph I didn't actually. It turns out that the army completely gutted their pension (which is the biggest reason I wanted to rejoin) and the recruiters lied about being able to station me in Alaska. And the only mos I was offered was infantry, which I did not want.
Ben, all great points! I joined right out of high school in 1982, at the age of 17. There was no internet, so basically the only research you could do was talking to veterans that had served. Looking back on my experience, I pulled my 201 File recently and after reading it, I wrote a story called "If I Would Have Known Then What I Know Now." I was really amazed at all of the opportunities that I missed out on!
If you pick an mos that not many people want, you have a better chance of going where you want. I am a 92-G (cook) and my first contract I got stationed in Italy on an airborne base simply because they were desperate for cooks. (I’m not even AB)
Everything you have posted has all been super helpful! I started watching all your videos once I reserved 68W as my MOS. I knew I wanted some type of medical exposure with my science background and I stuck with it after doing more research, just swore in yesterday and heading to Ft Sill on 5/25!
I need to get this off my chest. I know this may be cringy or people might not see it but I’m typing this out anyway. I am going to join the US army when I am 20. I’ve never been more sure of something in my life. Only problem is I’m weak. But I’m working on that. I’m not close 20 so I have some more time. Any advice would be appreciated. My parents might not be super supportive of this as they are liberal but I know they will accept it though I don’t plan to tell them for a while especially since I’m a kid still. I’m just worried I’m too weak but I know I can change that hopefully. I just needed to tell someone. It feels good to say.
Coming from an El Pasoan, you didnt miss much out here bro lmao. Nothing over here but food and bars. Im tryna get out this place myself, just hesitant about joining up.
Hi sir. I just want to ask if its true, that a army assigned in afghanistan has no access to their bank account. Then he's already 9 months there, his leaves was approved for the reason of marriage, and before his application is approved he got injured. That's the reason also he needs to come home. But he don't have family since he is young. He said that he need to pay for his ticket. Is that true?? He said his not a Scammer. I just want to know if its true.
Currently 17 failing hs like crazy and I’m thinking about joining just cause I’m a low life and a bum rn ngl can barley manage to get myself to get to school gotta do something w my life
I’m between Air Force and Army, I personally like more the army because is more military but the people always say the AF is better for many reasons, I honestly planning to become an officer in the future and in the army I have more opportunities for that.
Definitely look into it as much as you can. See what each branch does and if that's what you'd want to do, i was thinking between marines, army , and navy. I narrowed it down to Army, and I'm getting everything in order to sign up by October. Definitely grab an ASVAB guide, and watch all of Ben Allens videos. He'll save you a lot of trouble., and covers almost any question you might have.
I finally passed my ASVAB thanks to Mr clark who help me out in what I faced difficulties.I want to recommend him to you guys he has good tips and questions for everyone willing to join his group. We all are here to pass that why I recommend him to you all
At first I didn't believed in him un still he helped me out with all problems I had before I wrote.I want to recommend him to you cause I know he can also help you
