i was going round a roundabout earlier in my 2018 one and we were close to a car and the red car light appeared and the warning noise came on and went off...I didn't think I had it on my car...bmw seems confused too

Hi and thanks for the video. I am wondering if this function is similar to what the active cruise control is doing? If driving on a motorway with cruise control enabled - should that function assist with breaking (slowing down) if there is a vehicle ahead that slows down or this is completely separate function. Thanks!

That is correct. What is interesting is that if you tap the brakes, it disables the feature. Strictly for emergency. Have a great day.

Hi!!I’ve just brought a bmw x1 from 2018 and last week I had an accident in a motorway. I hit the front car and my car didn’t try to stop. I don’t remember the sound alert…That’s normal or is it some kind of error in my car? I’m new with the car and I just want to know how it works. Thank you!!!😊

sorry for your accident. it's possible your car doesn't have the sensors since it is an additional option not standard. usually comes in some package like "Driver Assistance Package"

Exactly. My wife wants this badly… our other vehicles have earlier warnings. While I trust BMW’s, it is extremely scary letting it go this close. This video alone is scary all around.
