    Thanks, again for you videos. One thing BMW needs to do is to make options/package selection easier when buying a new car.

      @@BMWofFW Thanks! I bought a 2020 330i and I dont even fully know what package it has (though I know all the options it has). Sure BMW can make it easier. thanks and cheers!

    Again thank you for your great videos. I have a couple of questions, what is the difference between the settings, it's a bit confusing. I mean does late mean that the system warns when you are too close and early settings when you still have a larger distance still to break.
    The other question, can you set the car to go into eco mode when you start up the car instead of pressing the button every time.
    Thank you

      hey Mazen! So yes you are nearly correct. the late setting simply means the latest possible point of intervention to activate, conversely early gives you more time, either way BMW tries its best to only activate only when absolutely necessary, it won't be jerky like many competitors warning you of a cross traffic alert a mile away.
      As for starting in eco Pro every time there is a way but it involves coding drive mode memory. you can do so with the bimmercode app if you so desire, but otherwise it does not do that from the factory.

    Thank you. Is there a way to turn steering intervention off permanently? Every time I start the car it comes back on automatically. I wouldn’t mind it being on but it isn’t always accurate, for example when a lane splits into multiple lanes or when a lane line has been poorly removed from a road surface.

      Yes Neil, after going into your collision systems menu you if you deselect the steering intervention it will remain off permanently or until you reselect it. Hope that helps

    nice video - just ordered a 2022 x4 - do you know if the steering intervention is now part of the standard driver assistance package(DAP). when i was at the dealership i test drove a base model x4 and it did have that feature as part of the DAP, so i am assuming it will come with my x4, but thought you might be able to confirm

    Hi JP, I like your video. I have a 2022 x4 m40i n all options you just showed r in it, however how affective is side collision n front collision avoidance in bmw.
    Some ppl r off the opinion that in bmw the car will not stop if driver is not paying attention or applying the brake.
    Any advise will be of great help.
    Thanks

    • @BMWofFW

      So BMW unlike it's competitors assumes drivers are competent and actually WANT to drive. So our systems only come in when absolutely necessary instead of telling you about the sasquatch 3 lanes over that MIGHT come into your lane, our system intervenes when danger is imminent, and is smart enough to know if you're TRYING to set off the system vs when it needs to be set off. As for self braking, that only happens at city speeds (below 38 mph) and again only when imminent danger is present, on highway it pulses the brake to get your attention taking into account the drivers average reaction time for the driver to take over before the crash happens.
      now when setting it up, obviously if you want to be the most cautious person possible setting your options to be earlier will always help, have that buffer to keep you in a better state of mind. But as with all systems, none of BMWs systems are designed to be fully autonomous at this point, theyr'e all meant as driver assistance device/programs meaning they are for those brief moments of inattention, not to promote longer such moments.
      Hope this helps!

    Would you make a video in more detail about the systems and the technology it uses? For example, I am of the understanding the front collision mitigation system senses metal/vehicles and pedestrians (perhaps through radar and the camera) but not trees and brick walls. The systems are probably similar across makes, but it would be nice to hear it for the brand specifically.

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  3 года назад +1

      absolutely I can make a deeper dive into the systems! was it just the front collision mitigation that you were wanting the deeper dive on or just everything in general?

    • @shopafelic
      @shopafelic 3 года назад

      I'd be interested in it all, but front will be the main one. I think there's a general lack of information on the collision avoidance systems on RUclips. But that'll be up to you! :) by knowing how the systems work and the system limitations, it would avoid over reliance and improve safety of the user. thank you!

    Which BMW is this? and it seems like the 'steering intervention' is not standard. I used to see that box but I don't see it anymore.

      This is a 540i with Driver Assistance Professional package. And you are correct, it does not come with Steering Intervention as standard.
