I own a 2015 BMW X5 35D here in the US. I discovered holding down the unlock does roll my windows down and sunroof open and holding down the lock rolls them back up so that’s cool! I don’t have remote start(boo). Holding down the trunk on the key fob does not close it and yes because I have a tow hitch I can’t open it with the leg swipe. Also pressing lock twice doesn’t disengage my motion detecter inside the vehicle. This video is very informative, thank you!
Yep, that is a good point after making the video we did discover that depending on where one lives in which country some BMWs are allowed to close the trunk with the key fob unfortunately unfortunately not the ones in North America as far as I know

17 X3's key fob won't too as many as this. It cannot do remote start since the vehicles didn't have it during the time. It cannot roll up the windows, but if you have comfort access, you can hold the door sensor and roll it up that way.
Great content. You can also open close stop and reverse close or open your your trunk using the trunk button on your keyfob. And if you have bimmercode you can set a delay for the trunk opening. This is for if you have your keys in your pocket to avoid accidentally opening the trunk. 😊
Thanks for the info! I know US vehicles don't have the ability to close the trunk for safety reasons. DIdn't know bimmercode could do that one! Happy holidays!
One more on the panic button. For newer vehicles with pathway lighting, if you press the panic button on the fob for 1 second, the pathway lighting will come on. Obviously don't hold the panic button for more than 1 second (3 actually) or the alarm will sound
Helpful thank you! Regarding the walk toward/away unlock/lock - can you clarify whether a 'comfort pack' is needed or this would work also without that? I am about to purchase a new car so that would be truly appreciated. many thanks
Thats just a transport piece, not necessarily a part you should get. I personally am very careful and never ding any cars but if you end up in a area where you may get dings, I would get these - amzn.to/3P9mmhf
I have a 128ti (2021, F40) and I'm able to close the trunk with the key ^^ After I opened it, I can close it with keep pressing the trunk button until it's closed. The trunk stops moving when I release the button to early. Short pressing, trunk will open again - Holding the button continues closing.
I would LOVE to know how to permanently disable the car alarm. I've seen a couple of things that say "remove the fuse for it" or "drain the batter" or things like that. But...I'm hoping there's just a setting "turn off car alarm". Is there anything like that? (2021 M3 Comp)
No setting for it unfortunately. The only thing close to it would be the feature to turn off the beeping sounds when you lock and unlock the car. I'm not aware of how the fuse box works, but a BMW technician might.
Videos won't be coming out for older generation BMW, the demand for those are very low, many of these buttons are shared from car to car though, I would watch some of the others of the newer cars and that may help a bit.
Hey Farooqp, great question, I've personally never heard of a BMW key fob being relay attacked. I do know there is not a way to disable that as far as I know.
I Own a 2019 3 Series G20 With a electric tow hitch. It does have a kick sensor for opening the trunk. In my experience a kick from left to right with my left foot works al the time for unlocking and locking the trunk.
Yes it will turn off after 15 mins, you can also press lock 3 times again to turn off remote start. Unfortunately no fob pocket, closest you'll get to is going to be the cupholders or the cubby right above it.
Thank you for that great informative video👍🏾. I bought a used Bmw 320i from a car dealer. And i was given only one main Key-Fob plus another smaller Key-Fob for locking and unlocking the doors only.. I was given only one bunch, my worry is, where is the other spare bunch? and suppose the car dealer is rogue, and happen to sneak in, and steal my car using the spare bunch.. what should i do? I need your advice please, am in constant worry eversince i bought the car. Thank you😢
I would call BMW assist and inform them of the situation. They may be able to remotely deactivate the key. Or the other option would be to bring your vehicle in and see if they can re-program it so that it only works for the key you have.
Is comfort access standard ? Or is it an option ? I can t find it on my 2023 x5 45e... I mean for a 105k car, having to press a button every single time is quite a cheap experience...even a Dacia has it as standard...
Im quite sure for the X5s the comfort access feature is standard. Not the case if you had a X3. If you go into settings and go under where it says doors/access you should see comfort access located there.
@@BeamerView comfort access is a 1000 option in the UK for the i4 for example, it's insane. even my old Ford Focus had keyless entry and it was literally half the price.
Helpful video but I found many of these "tips" do not work on the 2022 330e. BMW needs a "Pet mode" like tesla. I have tried everything to leave the vehicle with AC on, doors locked, and alarm off but there is no way to do it. Even the 2009 hyundai sonata hybrid could do that.
Understood. Yes Pet mode would make much more sense. Honestly probably 5% of the population knows about the motion detector turn off. It would be nice to have a pet mode and then program that to one of the memory keys!
I second the desire for pet mode. I have two standard poodles that I would like to take with me and be able to leave in the car with the air con on. Tesla has pet mode. BMW needs it too!
I just got a used 2016 BMW 750i xdrive msport. The trunk open/close (with your foot) doesnt seem to work. Is this an option that the car might not be equiped with or is their a setting that needs to be changed? The car seems fully loaded with all options so it seems strange that this one is not available.
I would check the settings, keep in mind you have to keep the key in the pocket and the vehicle has to come with comfort access or keyless entry as well.
Go into settings and look for comfort access in the door settings menu. It may work best if you just turn off the feature where it says "unlock when approaching the vehicle"

Hello, I’ve recently purchased a 2020 x6 and I can’t get my comfort access to work. I’ve checked all the boxes and it still won’t work. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
May be an issue with the key fob, I would try to replace the battery. A lot of the times if the key is in the purse it may cut off the signal too. Im sure you checked, but doors and access settings is where you're going find the comfort access feature if it has it.

I have a 2023 X3M Comp LCI, I can get the windows to roll down with key fob, but nothing I do works to close them ie holding down the lock button as you described & demonstrate, is there a setting I have to activate 1st before using this feature??🤷♂️ thanks to anyone who can answer
It should roll up the windows when holding lock, I'm not sure which country you're from but sometimes I have seen different key functions depending on the country. Here in the US you should be able to with a 2023 model. If not, another thing you could try is holding down the lock sensor on the door handle to see if that works. This method was what worked on the last generations.
@@BeamerView hey thanks for the reply, I’ve tried everything to no avail, live in the US & was hopeful this would work 🤷♂️ I wish you could do both of these functions in the My BMW App, that would be awesome, I don’t even carry the key fob, I do everything thru the app. Thanks again, anyone els have an idea??
Good point. I believe the only feature you would lose would be the walk away and walk toward feature of course, you may also not be able to close the windows from the lock button on the fob.
One thing you forgot: use the mechanical key to enable or disable the front passenger seat airbag. Maybe there is some other legislation in the US, but in other places, people sometimes use the front passenger seat to install specialized baby seats. In that situation the airbag is dangerous in a collision…
i got a z4 2022 sdrive20i how do i open the roof using the key fob? ive seen people doing it but cant find how, ofc i tried long press hold the unlock button for over 20 seconds but only the windows go down, if anyone can help im willing to pay if it works
It should work with the key fob at least if your in the north americas. You sometimes have to stand pretty close to the vehicle in order for it to work.
@BeamerView I'm not in the US I live in israel rn, and it doesn't work sadly but I'm paying a guy to stage 1 my car so he said he can do that too for an extra 100 dollars
Hey Thunder, most likely will have this same key fob. The only bmw that has the brand new style currently is the iX. Even the i4 has this current generation fob.
Hello bro I have problem I see on screen bmw x5 2020 “hold the vehicle key against the marker in the sterring colum see Owner's handbook for futher information “ What’s i can do ?
Look on the side of the STEERING WHEEL COLUMN. Its the box that holds the steering wheel. On the side you'll see a picture of a key, you can hold your dead key fob there flat and then start the car. This means your battery is dead and needs to be replaced on your key.
@@BeamerView - Hi, thanks for your response. I am referring to the car’s iDrive 7, My BMW App and/or display key. There seems to be no way of checking on the level of battery charge remaining, e.g. 15% alerting the owner to the need to charge the battery to avoid an impending jump start. Merced-Benz offers alerts via their App but evidently BMW has overlooked this important service. Would appreciate your wisdom. Regards,
If you have two key FOBs and two driver profiles how do you actually assign 1 of 2 specific driver profiles to one particular key and the other driver profile assigned to the other key?
You can do it in the driver profile menu and going into settings from that page. The best way is when you're setting up the profiles to have the designated key within the vehicle and moving the other one away from the vehicle. But go into settings, keep one key in the car, and you should be able to re-link it.
Not as many since these are more for the 2019+ X5s. If you're x5 has comfort access you can hold down the sensor on the door handle to roll up the window. That's one of the different ones.
I have 2024 x5. When you exit the car with keys but you want to leave the car running, it makes 2 horn beeps thats really loud. Is there a way you can turn that off?
You would have to turn off comfort access which is located by searching it in the settings. When you're walking away from the car it's trying to lock it with the key but won't because the car is running. So you would have to turn off the walk away lock feature, you cannot turn off the horn beeps for safety reasons.
Mate, you can actually close the TRUNK by holding the trunk button on the key fob and it will bring the trunk down/close. Try it.😝 We do with our BMW the UK version actually.
It goes by country United States laws don’t allow it here for some reason, but I have been hearing that for a UK vehicles it does work! Thanks for the heads up

I have tow hitch and still have kick feature to open the trunk 😇
Good to know, it may be something they have changed, I'll have to test it for the newer vehicles, thanks for letting me know.
Hi, would be nice to know which feature/trick is only available with comfort access
Good point. I believe the only feature you would lose would be the walk away and walk toward feature of course, you may also not be able to close the windows from the lock button on the fob.
Many of these do not work on my F11 but a great video anyway
Thanks! Maybe it may be something that comes in a future BMW =)
One thing you forgot: use the mechanical key to enable or disable the front passenger seat airbag. Maybe there is some other legislation in the US, but in other places, people sometimes use the front passenger seat to install specialized baby seats. In that situation the airbag is dangerous in a collision…
Never heard of that one, thanks for mentioning it!
How it worked?
Is there a way to reduce the volume of lock confirmation beep? It shocks everyone being so loud.
Unfortunately not. You can disable it all together but cannot tone it down.
i got a z4 2022 sdrive20i how do i open the roof using the key fob? ive seen people doing it but cant find how, ofc i tried long press hold the unlock button for over 20 seconds but only the windows go down, if anyone can help im willing to pay if it works
How do we unlock the car from driver side when passenger accidentally take the key out of the car ?
Sorry didn't quite understand the question, could you re-phrase it?
The vehicle can only unlock from the driver side if the key is nearby.
Thank you I never knew that I have a cat and a bmw my cat loves looking out the window.
Awesome!
My comfort access not working. It flashes "COMFORT ACCESS REDUCED " when engine is shutting down. What should I do to correct it please.
Sounds like a glitch, best case would be to bring it in to get it checked out.
I can close with the key on my 2022 5 series the trunk, i dont know why it does not work on yours as well.
Correct, found out it depends on the country in which the vehicle is in.
Also this key fob you know if new 3 series Will have the exact same?
Hey Thunder, most likely will have this same key fob.
The only bmw that has the brand new style currently is the iX. Even the i4 has this current generation fob.
Hello bro
I have problem
I see on screen bmw x5 2020
“hold the vehicle key against the marker in the sterring colum see Owner's handbook for futher information “
What’s i can do ?
Look on the side of the STEERING WHEEL COLUMN. Its the box that holds the steering wheel. On the side you'll see a picture of a key, you can hold your dead key fob there flat and then start the car.
This means your battery is dead and needs to be replaced on your key.
Where do we find the battery level indicator/display please - 2023 - 8 Series ?
Are you referring to this key or the display key? There are two different ones.
But go into settings, keep one key in the car, and you should be able to re-link it.
actually figured out it does it automatically. thanks!@@BeamerView
do theses features work for 2016 bmwx5
Not as many since these are more for the 2019+ X5s. If you're x5 has comfort access you can hold down the sensor on the door handle to roll up the window. That's one of the different ones.
Is there a way to charge the key fob ?
No there is not unfortunately.
I have a 2017 430i. I waould like my horn to beep when pressing the lock button so I can find my car in a crowded parking lot. Is this possible?
Unfortunately not, BMW's are only designed to make the beeping sound.
Thanks for the heads up
Are those leather seats or sensatec? And what is the name of the color?
Canberra Beige/Black SensaTec
The 2023's come with the new SensaFin, which is basically sensatec but feel almost as good as leather.
