So when uou are connected to apple carplay, if you press navigation or media button next to the idrove knob, it takes uou straight to the maps of apple music/youtube music. I didn’t know about presets, this video was helpful, thank you

Gotcha thank you for letting me know about the links. And yes wish bmw had some additional functions for those! You could try hitting the ac button in on rocker switch in the climate control button section. This is if you have one of the newer BMWs
Appreciate the video. I have an older BMW. When text messages or emails come in I only see a little envelope icon and have to navigate to see the message or have it read. I use a hot key to display text messages. Not sure how the text messages come through on newer models though. Couple of items for your consideration. Maybe slow down a bit. I realize you are trying to squeeze in a lot of information and don't want the video to be too long. I had to slow down the playback speed for my Southern ears. LOL. Also, if you would have the phone connected to show the Apple Car Play bits that would be more helpful than having to imagine it. Thanks again.

Usually with the newer phones if you press the volume knob on the BMW center stack, it should mute the song and also pause the track when you're playing it through bluetooth or carplay/aa
If I’m reading your question right yes you can use all keys and program number 8 to just go the presets menu where you had saved your radio presets menu

You mentioned the Amazon key fob case. I bought one and it was nice. But you cannot replace the battery or extract the emergency key without opening the case by unscrewing the very tiny screws with the special screwdriver that you don’t have on you during the emergency. And then you have to reassemble it. I got rid of the case.
@@BeamerViewI keep the “emergency key” in my wallet, which has a small zippered pocket. Why would one keep an emergency key with the fob? Hello, why is there an emergency key? For the unfortunate reason you lock your fob in the car, or loose your fob. The battery needs to be changed no less then once a year. Some people’s just don’t get it. I would like to be able to quickly turn off the air in row two and three of my ex seven. So that when nobody is in the car except me, the air is all directed to the first row. Is that possible?
I don't think this is possible unless you manually go into the back and do it, but one thing you could check into is.. on your climate control button row, you should see a "menu" button that takes you into the climate control menu. You should see some items there such as "sync" or "climate control rules". If there was a way to accomplish this for the back rows, it would be a setting located here.
Many of them will. The buttons are there but they are hidden. Swipe down or up I believe on the screen and you’ll see them. I’m doing one for Idrive 8 in a couple months.
I was a little confused on how to program your phone to go into the BMW APP regarding an address. I cannot find where you put the address in on the app?

Not sure if my response will do any good, but I’m using idrive 6 as well and usually when it says ‘unable to save’ it’s either you’re highlighting the wrong thing or the shortcut just isn’t available (hope it’s the first one 😉)

Two ways. You can over ride the function with another one. If you wish to delete all them and start from scratch hold 1 and 8 together for a few seconds to reset all the buttons.

I think having any map there is a lot better than just a line of text telling me where to turn especially since the center display already shows or alerts me. Especially in complex intersection or highway ramps
That’s a good one to mention, but these days everyone ends up using Apple CarPlay or android auto and when you do that, you cannot program the numbers to work with the shortcut keys since the numbers are uploaded into Apple CarPlay
Yeah I think this title should say 25+ best features to save onto your 8 presets. Seems like to set these it's pretty much hold the button until it beeps, there's no 25 ways to hold these buttons bro. You got my hopes up!
I had to slow down the replay. For RUclips you can find it under: Settings / Playback speed. I used .75. I would have liked it even slower but .5 playback speed was to distorted.

Is there a default button or can I program a button to play or pause audio coming from bluetooth device or android auto/Apple Car Play?

Granted the battery should be a once in a blue moon thing to replace. But, yes the emergency key would be annoying if you happen to use it alot.

You should have used some common sense on that decision.

Yes most likely. This ones more for idrive 7. I believe 18s had Idrive 6.

I don’t believe so. I tried but buttons for modes are right below so it’s cool

Try pressing the OPTION key near the idrive controller, you should see a box you can check off to turn off split screen.

These are great but most don't work on my 2019. And BTW, Android’s market share reached 87% in 2022, so the Apple Carplay stuff is mute.
