I thought this was a BMW brake and pedestrian check test, not a swerve and avoid test... every time you are in front of a pedestrian you swerve to avoid hitting them, pretty sure that makes it an automatic fail. Still, there’s even more disadvantages while driving at night, flashing people on the side of the road with bright, disorienting, headlights seems *more* dangerous. Also, the soundtrack doesn’t really fit this type of video.
He swerved because a real person was used. Common sense. The dynamic spotlight also uses a beam lower than a person's eye level so nobody is being blinded. The system passes all regulations for pedestrian safety.

@@GreenStorm01 This is for some vehicles and itll say in settings "Front Collision Warning" but for most models itll say "Front Collision Warning with braking intervention"
@@nathant5819 However that won't fully stop the vehicle. BMW apparently only lowers the speed a bit to get the drivers attention. Which in all these situations is WAY too late for anything

it is shit then !! it must stop automatically and not fakn flashing and then you must jump on brakes or turn around wheels!!! Mazda SCBS+R stop automatically and Mazda are 2-3x cheaper ., Bmw are overpriced shit

I can assure you.. I would already have killed a few pedestrians, and crashed into a lot of cars, if I would rely on my 2017 BMW 5 autobrake feature... It simply doesn't work like it should.
Funny thing is, I went for a test drive today, and it went full emergency stop on us while just cruising in a residential street because a pedestrian just got off the sidewalk. My dad wasn't happy with me until I explained what that was

C'est une function qui s'apelle "Evasion Assist" en Anglais. La voiture ne tournera pas toute seule, mais aidera le chauffeur à éviter un obstacle en amplifiant le manoeuvre du chauffeur. Dans ce cas, le conducteur tourna le volant à gauche et la voiture l'aida.

Oh wow, that is some bad driving. The system might work by alerting the driver, but the driver throws that out the window by swerving around (and possibly hitting other pedestrians on the crosswalk or hitting another car in the lane to the left. The most important input is the brake. There is a lot of research behind the driver assist and the best course of action is to brake not swerve. Swerving takes 10 times more time to do it safely than the split second necessary for braking.
The reason why I swerved was that in front of the car was real person. The car started braking but after huge steering wheel movement, the system interrupted braking because safety systems let the driver alone when they "see" that the driver knows what is necessary to do in this specified situation. It is normal practice: when you push pedal to the metal and/or you move steering wheel much, such systems are inactive - because the driver knows better what to do.
admit that bmw 5 are shit of car !!! it cost too much and offer bad electronic and nothing!!! now try that with Mazda 6 or cx 5 and they will stop automatically especially on this low speeds
