      Maybe it could have realized to stop at the side of the road not on the lane and maybe it should put the hazards on when it starts breaking, not after full stop. This would be a disaster on autobahn. Maybe lets not develop these independent driving mechanics and keep the drivers included in surveying the road ahead. There will be accidents sooner or later as people get used to car doing everything for them and then one day the car doesnt or you forget you are driving a different car.

    People keep commenting that there could be a truck behind you and rear end you.
    What if you're driving manually with that same truck behind you, and you come to an obstacle (say a car crash) and you manually stop fast? Will in that scenario the truck magically manage to break in time? Or will you pay more attention to what the truck behind you is doing and instead of braking, in order to avoid the truck rear ending you, you'll... deliberately hit the obstacle at maximum speed?
    You people are absurd. Your duty is to pay attention to the road ahead and make sure you don't crash in something. The same duty applies to any vehicle, including trucks.
    Can an automated system be better? I would make it so that you stop but also move into a free lane or onto the emergency lane (which is what I would do in the same scenario to be safe). But the truck must still maintain safe braking distance and if they don't, maybe we need an automated camera and police report system where your car would send videos of tailgating trucks to the police for hefty fees. Because honestly, truckers are real assholes more often than not.

    I enjoy that YOUCAR has just published the raw B-roll including all the comments from people in the cabin when it smacked the brakes on to stop for the pallet, and the director screaming to hold the shot when they were doing the tracking move next to the line of moving cars. This tech really looks crap and hyper-sensitive, why can't it swerve around the obstacle like the human did? It clearly knows what vehicles are adjacent. Instead it lines you up for a lawsuit and multiple insurance claims due to stopping on a fast road. Nice one BMW 👌

    • @MylesV
      @MylesV Год назад

      Stopping on a "fast road" because of an obstacle in the road would not open you up to insurance claims or lawsuits, if you hit a vehicle from behind then it is your fault point blank.

    Most of the comments are missing the point, when you are behind a car that will avoid an obstacle like in this video, you probably won't be able to see it or change your lane safely and will crash into the obstacle, but this car stops before it.
