Yes. Of course, in all these cases (well, not the Ford, Kia and Hyundai), the car is quite properly accepting the risk of getting rear-ended. Which might well through the car into the pedestrian while hurting the in the car and the people who hit it. Tough situation. @@ethelryan257 Fun Fact: People keep bringing up situtations exactly like this for self driving cars (technically you did a trolly test), but the fact is the whole test is bullshit, people will do everything to avoid hitting the obstacle (car, pedestrian) right in front of them, people brake and if its really close they swerve hard, there is simply no thinking about what is worse, you just avoid the immediate danger, self driving cars on the other hand could exactly calculate the way the car needs to stop and just avoid the need to swerve in some situtations thus making it safer for everybody.
1:21 Hyundai: If the Pedestrian Autobrake failed, don't worry, the Hit&Run will take over to make sure you can escape from the scene asap, we got you covered.
I can attest to the fact Hyundai's emergency braking system and associated sensors are garbage. On the top end Elantra trim, not once did it even beep. After my mom hit a parking obstruction with no audio warning of any sort, it caused front end damage. One Hyundai dealer claimed it was because the obstruction was not moving and another claimed the reason it did not deploy because there was no metal. They never tested the sensor and charged me $3500 to replace the metal cross member it was mounted on as the final insult. Remember this when considering a Hyundai/Kia because of the great value they claim it is. Thank you for uploading this video because it validates the corners Hyundai cut to lower costs.
I have a 2018 Ioniq, and for me the emergency braking system has never failed so far. Same goes for cross-traffic sensors etc. The only thing I find somewhat annoying is the parking radar. If you park in reverse gear, the parking radar turns on automatically, but when you do the same with forward gears you need to enable the parking radar manually (of course, in this situation you rarely need the radar anyway).
I love how they don't bother to show the inside footage of the cars who failed to brake in time or brake at all, now we can't see if in those cars, the emergency brake assist was engaged at all.

@TheNomNom Yeah, u are right. The thing is that a lotta people take the driving license, doing that allright for 1 time in their life. Then, it's another story.
@TheNomNom These systems were created for the times when the driver is not able to react quick enough (that does happen, especially with pedestrians sometimes walking onto the road without notice). Of course the drivers should be aware. But it's not always up to them. Which is precisely why these systems were put in place. I'm not sure why you're so adamant about drivers being when that isn't the issue here.
@TheNomNom No one's "shitting on other cars". The tests just proved they don't work in ~30mph pedestrian collision accident avoidance situations. They're also not acting like 12 year old kids. It's a fair point that lots of people who are good drivers most of the time get distracted once in a while and it's these times that the accidents happen. The systems in question are designed to avoid these situations and marketed as such, but both the people making the video and the people watching it are saying that they don't work as one might be led to believe by the manufacturers. There's nothing wrong with them not working all the time or not existing at all and paying attention is definitely of utmost importance, but marketing them as working properly when they clearly don't is deceptive at best. Further you make a good point, maybe some companies didn't design these systems for this use case, but why not just lead with that instead of starting a comment fight?

@@ethelryan257 Fun Fact: People keep bringing up situtations exactly like this for self driving cars (technically you did a trolly test), but the fact is the whole test is bullshit, people will do everything to avoid hitting the obstacle (car, pedestrian) right in front of them, people brake and if its really close they swerve hard, there is simply no thinking about what is worse, you just avoid the immediate danger, self driving cars on the other hand could exactly calculate the way the car needs to stop and just avoid the need to swerve in some situtations thus making it safer for everybody.
Imagine a world... Get this.. where the driver is paying attention and the pedestrian looks before crossing!?
Exactly!!! My concern with AEB systems is that they can also trigger incorrectly - leading to other kinds of accidents.
*Ford is that one Karen Grandma.*
Kia is the parent that doesn’t like their son’s friend.
Why did I have a gut feeling that the Ford Fusion wasn't stopping for anyone?

As a Nissan Altima owner I am proud watching this 😂
Seems like the Nissan did the best overall. Sorry, but had to laugh at the Ford Fusion :-)

I love how they don't bother to show the inside footage of the cars who failed to brake in time or brake at all, now we can't see if in those cars, the emergency brake assist was engaged at all.
The legend has it that Ford AND Kia haven’t stoped yet
I died with the sonata 😂😂😂😂
I think it hit the gas when it saw the obstacle
Surprised that a big company like Ford failed so miserable. Great work Nissan! 👌🏽
Because Ford is a cheap, low quality brand.
@@saladien9987No, it is because Ford cars are only level 1 ADAS where the rest were level 2 and 3
@@ZachPye That’s implied by my comment :) low quality software etc.
@@saladien9987 Level 1 ADAS has nothing to do with cheapness. If you want to talk about low quality software look at Sync GEN 1 and 2, not to mention also when they ended there relationship with Sony back in 2016. That was a cheap move
@@ZachPye if the others are further ahead. Then they didn’t spend to be competitive. Sygic no idea almost no one drives ford here they have a very bad reputation.
Ford new slogan: "Not even trying"
I forgot I was watching a test, I jumped when the Sonata wiped out the dummy. 😂
FORD: Found On the Road Dead. I guess that acronym goes for both the car and pedestrian.
Hyundai: let's slow down a little, hit them, then when they think it's over, we slowly run over them

3:27 That’s a weird looking mustang
Huge shout out to Ford and Kia for their great job in preparing to zombie apocalypse 👏👏👏
😂😂 LMAO
Why was this video made??
Others: To check out how safe the cars are...
Me: Pedestrians go yeet!!
I have a 2019 Ford Focus, its pre-collision assist system saved me from an accident once involving somebody in front slamming on the brakes for no apparent reason. However im assuming from this is doesnt treat pedestrians the same way.
Ford is built tough. Nothing stands in its way. If it does, it won’t for long.
Lmao that 3rd sentence busted me 😂😂😂
Ford Fusion: runs over the child
Child: The feet is gone
The Fusion only got one type of test, we didn’t get to see how it would perform without the parked cars blocking the view, Why?
I've heard that Ford doesn't pay for any promotions. I've seen reviewers bashing out Ford, even though it performs well, then praising other brand cars for no valid reason. Here in my country, Ford is the best car in performance as well safety and people buy them by word of mouth
Probably because they didn't want to run out of expensive dummies.
@@black4xe writing on youtube 'in my country' isn't really giving information about which country we're talking.
Also ford makes total crap, no matter the country lol :D
@@Angry-Lynx I'm from India and here Ford's got a good reputation for being the cheapest, yet safest car in almost all the segments. Ford excels in performance making it the best drivers' cars and no other brands provide that.
The interior and features are a not up to the level of the competitors, but that doesn't matter for enthusiasts.
Ford is working with Mahindra in India and maybe that's why they are best in build quality.
@@Angry-Lynx you can watch any indian car review involving a ford machine and you can see some best comments on Ford.

Kia , ford, and Hyundai shouldn't be able to say these features work
@TheNomNom yeah saying 'you should xxx' isn't constructive, it's just pointless complaining/hindsight...
sure you do, but what if you dont!? Thats whole point of those system and makes a lot of sense, it is one of very few recent car features that are actually useful and improve safety ;
@TheNomNom now im know its hard but imagine the non perfect world, where person can be distracted.or.event just.wasnt possible to predict.... Oh wait a moment, thats the world we actually live in!
Who could have thought that we dont live in perfect world! ,😂😁
Aight take it easy mang ;
I like how the Hyundai pulls away again after the 'obstacle' has disappeared because it has mowed it down, and then proceeds to drive over the 'obstacle'.
It's just confirming the kill, they may survive a runover and sue but running on them ensures a kill and then you can take care of the body.
Kia won that test - as at the end, it managed to chop the pedestrian in half. And disassemble his legs too.
