    *Filmed live at Pacific Strength (pacificstrength...) in Oakland, CA.
    Anna Lai and Carl, both CrossFitting about 2.5 years, gave OPEN 17.1 a go right after Dave Castro announced the first dumbbell workout to make an appearance in the Open. The Games website says "Prior to starting this workout, each athlete will need to create a long straight line on the floor and place their box on the center of that line." Obviously we didn't do this and it was a miss for us on the standards. So athletes and judges, make sure you put that line down!

    Great video as per !
    Tackling this tomorrow morning (saturday) I would be delighted if I got a time around Anna Lais!!!
    In fact getting it done at all is amazing! Carl looks like a taller athlete which this workout is tough for!

      This one is tough, 150 havy snaches + 75 jump berpee box jumps, for 20 min I would try it myself today lets see.

    I just finished 17.1 a couple of hours ago and I did it in 23:30 I guess it's not bad for the 6 months I've been in Crossfit, I'll try it out later in a couple months to see how I improved.

      +Jose Albarran You kept working past the time cap, nice. How many reps had you completed when 20 mins was up?

      WODwell I had like 20-30 Snatches at the 20 min. mark, although I didn't sign up for the Open I just wanted to try it out, it was my first Open workout and I was just happy I managed to finish it haha!

    I did a workout like this recently (last week I think) exc there was no time cap and there were 10 burpee box jumpovers instead of 15. I barely made it thru the round of burpees after the round of 20 snatches I ended up not finishing bc I felt dizzy and like I was almost gonna barf.

      Sounds like you pushed yourself! Glad you stopped before you barfed tho.

    Box Jumps are tricky in a WOD like this, Some people try to use way to much power or momentum, I learn from another Vlog that Brooke Ence, like to relax at the top of the Box Jump and then just step down. This Conserves a bit of energy and it allows you to have more left in later rounds.

    I was 11 burpees short of finishing it at the 20 minute mark, RX :(

    i know you can step up on the burpee can you also step up on the box ?

    • @wodwell
      @wodwell  7 лет назад

      Step-ups are not allowed in the Rx division for the the box jumps on this workout - they require "two foot take off."
