All Nurses should be making six figures as a base salary..the job that a RN does is very challenging...you have to have hobbies and lots of “ me” time to keep yourself mentally and physically well💕🙏🏽🙌 Thank you 🙏🏽 Nurses
Not sure if you are a nurse but I have to agree with you 100%. I'm a nurse with 25 years experience and 2 masters degrees, I have to work a lot of overtime to hit a 6 figure salary. It's mentally and physically challenging. 12 hours no breaks!!! If men dominated nursing I'm sure the pay and working conditions would be so much better.
@@Splitchipsonblack1011 You ppl are insane. Nurses are already massively overpaid. 1. Take vitals (easy), 2. Do drug rounds (easy), 3. if there's a problem, call the doctor (easy). It's not a difficult job. I have much working knowledge of the sector, and I can tell you, you're pretty much reaching the limits of what the public will tolerate. Any more, and social cohesion will simply break down. Oh look, "Covid".
@@draculasbridekaren1664 ofcourse it's coming from a karen.
@@draculasbridekaren1664 okay Karen, are you gonna go tell that to the manager now?
@@draculasbridekaren1664 You can't just "do drug rounds." You have to constantly assess your pts and determine if those drugs are contraindicated for the pts current condition. You have to have a thorough understanding of what the medication does and how it works or you can easily kill someone. Have you also forgotten about IVs, NG tubes, wound care, drips that have to be carefully titrated etc? Not to mention constantly getting pissed on, cussed at, punched and spat on.
You should consider education. Your light would be appreciated and embraced. 😊
Indeed!!
I'm in nursing school now. Don't want to do bedside nursing. Legal nursing sounds great to me.👍
I just enjoyed your enthusiasm .
Wow, I want to do it all, I am so glad I am a nurse, i am literally getting paid for doing nothing. We are just all just taking care of each other. Ha
My personal story, I went to Sierra Leone my birth country, my mother was bleeding red blood and no colonoscopy in the hospitals. My mother is well, we thank God. I cried flying back to the USA to live. Today I am an advocate, advocating for screening and diagnostic machines in Sierra Leone. Nursing gives me this grace to see inequality, I am not only a nurse I am an advocate. Nurses let us go change the world, public health is my love.
Abibatu Bangura.
I know a nurse that opened her own laser liposuction business and focuses on "wellness". She's very successful with it too.
C Marie That’s an amazing field to be in. Did she have her BSN?
Nurse Jamie, for example.
i was sooooo tired of being a bedside nurse. so i switched to a different job. i am a nurse case manager for a medicaid managed care plan here in the state i live in. and i absoutely positively LOVE IT!! i was totally unaware about case management for nurses before i got this position. glad i made the switch!! great great video!!
Q The Nurse Thank you!!
Myra O what is the day to day life of a nurse case manager?
Myra, I'm so glad you found your place in nursing. I always encourage nurses that have grown tired of the bedside to explore. I love how diverse nursing is and I feel every nurse can find an area that fits. Thank you for staying in the trenches!
Myra O so what's your day to day task like ? And did u need certain amount of years experience in nursing ?
Hey myra o. How much experience did you need?
Hello! Great Video- just fyi, if youre going to be a Cruise Ship Nurse, one needs to have at least 2 concurrent years in either ICU or ER service, plus PALS/NALS certification. It's a little more involved than being a "school nurse". No offense to our sisters /brothers who are school nurses, just putting this out there. Thanks ! keep up the good work!
ER
ICU
NP
Forensics
Everything sounds so interesting I don’t know which one to choose
I enjoyed watching your video. Your energy is infectious! 😊 I also liked how you explained nursing specialties that aren't usually discussed as much, such as legal nursing consultant or nursing informatics.
Thks for your enthusiasm
Your energy is contagious! Got me feeling like I can take over the world lolll. Thanks for the info!
this video made me way more sure on this choice of field. i used to be a chef but wanted to do something more important. im currently starting a CNA class, but my employer will continue to pay for me to go farther up the nursing chain. im so much more stoked now
Subbed! Love finding new nursing channels. Flight nurses don't much from what I've researched.
I love your energy and passion for the nursing profession. Great video. Keep up the great work.
Hospital nursing is sweatshop nursing.
Pancake 52 that's a very arrogant statement. Florence Nightingale would roll her eyes on you.
Luey Vivant let her roll them right on then...that statement is very much so true...yes I do love being a nurse BUT it definitely comes with its downsides as well as the ups. Especially if you work in a hospital! There are other jobs out there besides being at the bedside. Unfortunately these are the jobs they don’t tell you about in nursing school.
LaBeLLa MiSSDonna Its a gross misuse of hyperbole. Sweatshop? Seriously? You're being paid less than minimum wage? You're working 16 hour shifts?
I work in a nursing home which I'm sure I have more of a patient-nurse ratio, 22 patients to me per shift, but I'd never compare it to a sweat shop lol. Hustle up or quit the bedside care. Many Strong, patient, nurses of integrity are found there that wouldn't call it a sweatshop.
Luey Vivant yes I’ve worked in a couple of nursing homes before, & my highest nurse to patient ratio was 50:1. Yes 50 patients by myself. Hospital bedside nursing and nursing home bedside nursing are not the same. I was nowhere near as stressed in the nursing home as I am in the hospital. That’s just my truth.
LaBeLLa MiSSDonna oh wow, that's interesting and I never would have guessed. Sorry to hear that. What hospital is this?
The fact that its posted on my bday.. confirmation! thank you sir
Great video. Loved your energy
You seem like an awesome person!! I love how excited you are!
Thank you for this video! This is an eye opener for me! Currently I am "Starting from the Bottom" in my journey to become a Nurse! So far I have found Forensic Nursing and I find it extremely fascinating! I love the thought of having best of both worlds, Healthcare and Legal Services! But now that you have mentioned a Flight/Transport Nursing! I will be doing some additional research on this FOR SURE! Thank you so much!
You’re awesome! I ave been thinking about a few you mentioned so you’ve reinforced my thoughts. Thank you
working on my prereqs currently.... forensic nursing sounds good to me. I have interest in pathology as well. I have worked as a CNA bedside for 12 yrs and also I was a recovery tech with an eye bank and did the actual procedure of harvesting the cornea or whole eye from donors to use for transplant for the living :) after working that, I found that I also enjoy the technique and technical portion of healthcare.
Swardiq Mayanja I really needed to hear this. I just quit my job to start nursing school, plus I have no house and almost all the nursing videos talk about how bad the career is. I felt like I was ready to quit life because everyday is a fight. You get so fed up, but listening to you really helps. I will do this and I will love it. God bless
Kaelstial Being Keep pushing on, you’ve got this!
Love this channel! as a student nurse who is about to graduate this channel has been so amazing in guiding and informing me as i transition into professional practice. Thank you so much Q!! You are the badass ;)
I've been looking into other outlets I can go into nursing other than working in the hospital and this was a wonderful video!! Nurse Informatics definitely piqued my interest.
#5! Nursing Informatics. I was considering joining our Center for Innovation division here at Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN. But until I heard your talk on informatics, I didn't realize the potentional in that direction. Thank you for the heads up.
Subscribed! Very informative. Love your Passion and enthusiasm!
Love reading the comment section! Its so interestimg to read people's ideas, thoughts and preferences. I'll be graduating from nursing school in a year... I'll definitely do more research for legal nursing consultant.
Great video, thanks for sharing!
Did u graduate?? Can you please update us on what you chose
This was really interesting, and this is part of why I want to go into nursing - there's so much you can do with it! I'd like to be a clinical nurse specialist, probably in a gastro speciality (NHS). I like the idea of being an expert in my field, doing some research for it and really improving the lives of patients living with GI problems. And I'd like to only have one patient at a time. I've just started my first care job as a healthcare assistant on a busy ward and having loads of patients needing things all at once is stressful and the shifts are exhausting. I love my patients though and I'm learning so much.
Love your energy. I’ve been considering forensic nursing.
Found your channel through the #HNHN (Healthy Nurse Healthy Nation) article about you! Gotta say I love your stuff so far, glad to see the work you're doing.
Also LOVE that you're shining the spotlight on nursing career paths OUTSIDE of the (not say that they aren't equally important) acute care hospital realm.
As someone who's a recent new grad starting out as a community health nurse it was really great hearing some of these different options!
Vital importantly awesome info. your presenting here. Thanks, Thanks, and Thanks! 😊
Your enthusiasm is great . Subbing
You will make a great professor I love the energy. Telephonic nurses makes good money and is an office job behind a desk.
Wow. Your speech is very informative and well organized. Literally inspire me so much to follow nursing career
Are u nurse
Are you nurse
Yay so glad I found your channel. Happy nursing!
you forgot utilization review nurse (remote) and telephonic nurse case manager with insurance companies
Hey I see this is a small channel so far, I'm definitely subscribing and I hope more people do too because this is some great info
hello there, I'm a 3ed year nursing student and this video gave me a lot of motivation !!Thankk yoou, I been in the hospital for a good time till now and I really hate bedside nursing career!! I can't imagine my self in this ! this video gave me more opinions that I didn't think about, I like them all but the first 2 would suit me more I think, and also I'm very interested in the Flight nurse this is really cool ~!
Thank you for this video. I'm 30 years old and sadly, only just now on the pathway to my RN; hopefully I'll be there in 3 years and get to actually have a career FINALLY. There's SO MUCH that I want to do with this and I'm worried I'm "too old". This opened my eyes to a lot more possibilities than I even knew about! Thank you for the passion.
Great info and enthusiasm, totally subscribed!
Thank you!!!!!I love this video. A lot of ppl say how stressful nursing is, but I appreciate the options and allowing me to see I'm only limiting the possibilities based on others experience or lack thereof.
Your fun to watch! Love your energy 😊
Great presentation. Lots of information. Very appreciative.
Your video was fantastic. I loved your energy!
Great video man looking forward to pursue this career
I'm more of a CSI fan, but I totally dig the Forensic Nursing, and will try to get in on the Cruise ship nurse while I'm on my way to getting things myself.
Good job, I love the information
Motivational information! Love the fact you want to do everything :))
Thank you for the information, you have a new subscriber
My main goal is to become a military nurse. And I heard that it ranges from either hospital setting to field setting. It depends on the assignment. It pretty much correlates to the flight nurse. And I honestly never knew about that before seeing your video. Much mahalo from the aloha state!
this honestly helped me realise that nursing is definitely a career id like to go into
I am currently in a BSN program but work in clinical informatics and will stay there and transition to a nurse Informaticist when I graduate in December. Best job I’ve ever had!
Your energy is contagious...love the music/graphics. Your in your element
😀 Thank you for the info especially about the cruise ship. "Bad Ass Nurses" 😮LOL
I love being an ER because it’s very physical and I love to stay active!
I am an RN did my 2+ years on Med/Surg. attempted OR (not for me), Hoping to get an inpatient position, but Nurse Informatics sounds like a challenge, and very very interesting. I had heard of all the others, all interesting in their own way.
No questions, just observed your video and it was informative and pretty good.
OKAY. Thank You...Keep Up the excellent work!
I left bedside to take a job as an appeals nurse for a major specialty pharmacy. It was the best move I ever made. There are very few of us around, but we perform an invaluable service. I loved it because I get to explain to insurance companies why the patients need treatments. It involves a lot of research and very strong writing skills.
How did you get into that type of nursing? Where would one look for such a job?
Great enthusiasm. Keep it up!
Ive inquired about Legal Nurse Consultant. I'm looking into beginning a program soon! Informatics sounds awesome as well!
You are amazing! your contents are vey useful! keep up the good work.
¡¡¡THANK-YOU FOR YOUR INSIGHT 💡🎓😉👍✔!!!
I want to do forensic nursing but it's seems to not be very common career when I'm trying to look up for information about the career it's very limited resources online hopefully forensic nursing will get more exposure in the future it's a really interesting field to me
Love your personality! Subbed!
My wife became a clinical analysis for a huge company and works from home! Nursing has tons of paths!
Excellent enthusiasm.
Ive always loved forensic nursing, that’s my goal!!!
I’m due to start my BSN path this upcoming year and I’m super excited! But of course a specialty will be my hard decision. I would love to be an L&D nurse but cosmetic nurse/aesthetic nursing sounds super fun too! So many options!
What did u end up choosing?
I know someone in nurse informatics. They make good $$$ and they didn’t have to do a whole lot of schooling like NP or CRNA. And its a lesser known field.
gabzz72 I know some nurses finishing their Masters in Informatics and xant find jobs. Got any leads?
Please tell me where the job is, with nurse informatics. I have a masters degree with no job yet, in informatics.
Where? Please guide us...many of us cannot find a job.
Very informative...I am interested in nursing informatics...I will be looking in to it
Loved the video and some of the comments I read!! I'm starting my 1st semester Monday so this is definitely something to look into now. Ill have to come back and finish the comments but now I have to read lol
Wow very informational!!
Nurse Informatics sounds like something I would enjoy
C. F costatt may be a good choice. I studied at Holicross International 13 yrs ago. Now am certified with distinction. Best of luck to you.
Very very GOOD INFORMATION.. Thanks for thiss❤❤❤❤
Thank you thinking of going for Informatics
You just sparked an interest. Beyond bedside....Thanks
I loved your energy/enthusiasm! I’m an ICU RN, and planning to become a CRNA.
I'm considering this path myself. I hope your dream has become a reality.
@@blake_229 , It is very ironic that I posted this 4 years ago, and I am currently halfway through my anesthesia program! I wish you all of the luck and blessings on your journey, and I hope that you are successful in whatever career path that you choose!
Cruise ship nurse?! I never thought about that!
I interviewed a cruise ship RN--she indicated that for her cruise line the expectation was NP with clinical experience in critical care or ER...must be comfortable with all aspects of nursing care. She mentioned that there is a subset of vacationers that take cruises as a last journey since they know they are dying and unfortunately become very ill during their trip, so death has come to her nursing attention and the nurse must be competent in dealing with this possibility...also many are stable but are elderly, somewhat frail and are prone to illness, injury, or poor acclimation to where they are going. She also talked about infection control and diseases since these cruise lines often port in non-USA locales. I think Q mentioned that this role might be like school nursing--that is not the impression I got from my interview. Additionally, he talked about forensic nursing--I have spoken with a few over the years--the nurse needs to be ok with crime scenes, data collection from victims and visiting or working in the morgue.
After being a sailor I don’t think I’d ever want to go underway ever again
Cruise ship nurse pay is so low
The only way of getting this nurse on a cruise ship is during my vacation😂. I spoke to the nurse on my last cruise. She spends 6 months on the ship and 2-3 months off. If I didn't have a baby to care for then it could be my cup of tea.
I am 17 years old girl with cerebral palsy in my left side. Getting my CNA looking for a job in justice field, looking for college I want to get my doctorate. Forensic nursing sound cool. Thank you
Great video!
Forensic nurses/nurse coroner 🙌🏿🙌🏿
Love your energy Q. I'm a nurse and I work from home. ❤It.
I am starting a bsn program as a former echo tech because I couldn't get work as one. I would like air transport especially if you can get miles like doctors.
Awesome you are over the top much like me!!! I can’t wait to become a nurse I’m going to start school next year and I’m super excited and ready. Pointer anyone
Q, great video...but nurses should also look into holistic and integrative nursing. I've been in this field for over 20 years...never been bored and have helped many people (including other nurses) heal.
I ❤️ the side job idea!
Thank you!
I'm a Psychiatric Nurse and it is definitely Interesting! I am now intrigued to hear more about Nursing Informatics...I will certainly look into this, if this is already being utilised in the UK. Great video, have subscribed!
Damilola Bisuga Soyoye Get a Psych NP degree. It is in high demand and pays a lot.
That's what I wanna do I have been in the psych unit at Cincinnati children's hospital and it has help me a lot so I wanna help to and give back so is it worth it
I would like to become a psych nurse.
I just loved the energy!
A LOCD GODDESS I watch your channel!! 😘
Q this is a great video. I think we think of the traditional roles in nursing but nursing is one of the most diverse careers. Thank you for enlightening everyone!
Omg i need to get my RN like right now!!😍
The cruise nurse reminded me- I once had an instructor tell me about being a casino nurse! I never knew some casinos had nurses 😄
This is off topic but his teeth are so pretty! But very enthusiastic I love the energy he has!!
I wish this video also had info on pay but overall very informative.
Nursing is a nice gig. I was a doctor, and I saw first-hand that nurses had far easier jobs with equivalent pay. I'm not sure how sustainable such workplaces are, however, because it builds up frustration in the junior doctor workforce. But, no hard feelings, grab that bag!
L&O SVU is everything!! I can watch for hours 😁
Great energy
I was thinking about nursing informatics any idea on how to get experience in the field.as an lpn?
Hello, Just found you, good info
Your videos are very informative and entertaining! Please make more!
