    All Nurses should be making six figures as a base salary..the job that a RN does is very challenging...you have to have hobbies and lots of “ me” time to keep yourself mentally and physically well💕🙏🏽🙌 Thank you 🙏🏽 Nurses

      Not sure if you are a nurse but I have to agree with you 100%. I'm a nurse with 25 years experience and 2 masters degrees, I have to work a lot of overtime to hit a 6 figure salary. It's mentally and physically challenging. 12 hours no breaks!!! If men dominated nursing I'm sure the pay and working conditions would be so much better.

      @@Splitchipsonblack1011 You ppl are insane. Nurses are already massively overpaid. 1. Take vitals (easy), 2. Do drug rounds (easy), 3. if there's a problem, call the doctor (easy). It's not a difficult job. I have much working knowledge of the sector, and I can tell you, you're pretty much reaching the limits of what the public will tolerate. Any more, and social cohesion will simply break down. Oh look, "Covid".

      @@draculasbridekaren1664 You can't just "do drug rounds." You have to constantly assess your pts and determine if those drugs are contraindicated for the pts current condition. You have to have a thorough understanding of what the medication does and how it works or you can easily kill someone. Have you also forgotten about IVs, NG tubes, wound care, drips that have to be carefully titrated etc? Not to mention constantly getting pissed on, cussed at, punched and spat on.

    Wow, I want to do it all, I am so glad I am a nurse, i am literally getting paid for doing nothing. We are just all just taking care of each other. Ha
    My personal story, I went to Sierra Leone my birth country, my mother was bleeding red blood and no colonoscopy in the hospitals. My mother is well, we thank God. I cried flying back to the USA to live. Today I am an advocate, advocating for screening and diagnostic machines in Sierra Leone. Nursing gives me this grace to see inequality, I am not only a nurse I am an advocate. Nurses let us go change the world, public health is my love.

It's a little more involved than being a "school nurse". No offense to our sisters /brothers who are school nurses, just putting this out there. Thanks ! keep up the good work!

      @ladydonna773 5 лет назад +35

      Luey Vivant let her roll them right on then...that statement is very much so true...yes I do love being a nurse BUT it definitely comes with its downsides as well as the ups. Especially if you work in a hospital! There are other jobs out there besides being at the bedside. Unfortunately these are the jobs they don’t tell you about in nursing school.

    • @ambivertical
      @ambivertical 5 лет назад +6

      LaBeLLa MiSSDonna Its a gross misuse of hyperbole. Sweatshop? Seriously? You're being paid less than minimum wage? You're working 16 hour shifts?
      I work in a nursing home which I'm sure I have more of a patient-nurse ratio, 22 patients to me per shift, but I'd never compare it to a sweat shop lol. Hustle up or quit the bedside care. Many Strong, patient, nurses of integrity are found there that wouldn't call it a sweatshop.

    • @ladydonna773
      @ladydonna773 5 лет назад +9

      Luey Vivant yes I’ve worked in a couple of nursing homes before, & my highest nurse to patient ratio was 50:1. Yes 50 patients by myself. Hospital bedside nursing and nursing home bedside nursing are not the same. I was nowhere near as stressed in the nursing home as I am in the hospital. That’s just my truth.

    This was really interesting, and this is part of why I want to go into nursing - there's so much you can do with it! I'd like to be a clinical nurse specialist, probably in a gastro speciality (NHS). I like the idea of being an expert in my field, doing some research for it and really improving the lives of patients living with GI problems. And I'd like to only have one patient at a time. I've just started my first care job as a healthcare assistant on a busy ward and having loads of patients needing things all at once is stressful and the shifts are exhausting. I love my patients though and I'm learning so much.

    Cruise ship nurse?! I never thought about that!

    • @Runnyonempty
      @Runnyonempty 6 лет назад +8

      I interviewed a cruise ship RN--she indicated that for her cruise line the expectation was NP with clinical experience in critical care or ER...must be comfortable with all aspects of nursing care. She mentioned that there is a subset of vacationers that take cruises as a last journey since they know they are dying and unfortunately become very ill during their trip, so death has come to her nursing attention and the nurse must be competent in dealing with this possibility...also many are stable but are elderly, somewhat frail and are prone to illness, injury, or poor acclimation to where they are going. She also talked about infection control and diseases since these cruise lines often port in non-USA locales. I think Q mentioned that this role might be like school nursing--that is not the impression I got from my interview. Additionally, he talked about forensic nursing--I have spoken with a few over the years--the nurse needs to be ok with crime scenes, data collection from victims and visiting or working in the morgue.

      The only way of getting this nurse on a cruise ship is during my vacation😂. I spoke to the nurse on my last cruise. She spends 6 months on the ship and 2-3 months off. If I didn't have a baby to care for then it could be my cup of tea.

    I am starting a bsn program as a former echo tech because I couldn't get work as one. I would like air transport especially if you can get miles like doctors.

    Q, great video...but nurses should also look into holistic and integrative nursing. I've been in this field for over 20 years...never been bored and have helped many people (including other nurses) heal.

    I'm a Psychiatric Nurse and it is definitely Interesting! I am now intrigued to hear more about Nursing Informatics...I will certainly look into this, if this is already being utilised in the UK. Great video, have subscribed!

    Q this is a great video. I think we think of the traditional roles in nursing but nursing is one of the most diverse careers. Thank you for enlightening everyone!

    Nursing is a nice gig. I was a doctor, and I saw first-hand that nurses had far easier jobs with equivalent pay. I'm not sure how sustainable such workplaces are, however, because it builds up frustration in the junior doctor workforce. But, no hard feelings, grab that bag!
