  • PROTEIN SOURCES IN VEGAN DIET
    Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals in general. An individual who follows such a diet or the philosophy is known as vegan.
    A well-planned vegan diet is regarded as appropriate for all stages of life including infancy and pregnancy as said by the american academy of nutrition and dietetics. It is considered to be high in dietary fiber, magnesium, folic acid, vitamin c , vitamin e, iron and other phytochemicals.
    A person can obtain protein from various sources like meat, eggs, and yogurt. But this can't be the case in terms of a vegan diet. Most vegan foods have significantly low amount of protein as a result of which there can be a serious deficiency of protein in our body.
    In this video we will talk about some of the protein rich foods that you can include in your diet, if you are practising a vegan diet.

    As a meat eater I didn't even know you could get so much protein from things like this, I feel like it should be easy to attain knowledge, and now it is! Thanks

      Cows only get their protein from grass, and yet they grow to be huge animals.
      Many people are under the impression that you have to eat animal products for protein, but this is not the case.

    Some other options:-
    100 gm moong dal :- 25 gms of protein.
    50 gm of soya chunks:- 25 gms of protein.
    100 gm chickpeas:- 20 gms of protein.
    100 gm red kidney beans:- 24 grams of protein. Don't thank me and All the best for your goals. Peace.

      And plant protien except soya beans doesn't provide complete protiens they doesn't have all amino acids which dairy or animal protien have. And you can't eat only soya beans as they cause thyroid problems

    • @nonexistent944
      @nonexistent944 Год назад +1

      @@anirudhgupta7809 it depends on the type of beans you buy. The red one has the highest protein and as for the incomplete protein, as long as you are hitting 1 gram of protein per bodyweight with whatever combination of plant protein it won't make any difference if your protein comes animals or not.

    The foods that I noticed around my home that have the highest protein content are: Pumpkin seeds: 1/4 cup=9 grams of protein ; Tempeh: 100gms=19 grams of protein and Edamame spaghetti: 56gm serving=24 grams of protein. I do eat the occasional Herring Kippered Snack: 75gms=12 grams of protein. On the days that I need a boost of protein because I am working out I do use plant based protein powders like KaChava and Garden Life or Amazing Grass brands that have protein powders. What are some other foods that are very high in protein that others have around their home?

    On the tofu part: 8g of protein/100g seems too low to me. Cheapest tofu I can find has 13g of protein/100g and I found one with 21!
    You can also add TVP in your diet (made from soy) it has 50g of protein/100g.
