    I like these videos: they are funny, informative and contain important advice for those who are on the weight loss journey or thinking about losing some weight. However, I'd say, based on my experience as well as others, that keeping your weight in a healthy range is more challenging than losing weight. People who lost weight often got there by forcing some habits like going to the gym, watching what they eat, etc. When they do this over a period of 6 months, 1 year, 2 year, they lose weight and even reach a healthy range....but once they get off the habits that they forced themselves into for weight loss, their weight starts creeping back up and within a couple of years further down the road, they find themselves back to square one ! So make sure whatever habits you inculcate, including carrying weight scale to the restaurant to weigh your biriyani or eating high-protein diet and lifting weights in gym, you are in a position to maintain those habits lifelong ! Honestly the diet part is the most important and is the hardest to maintain !! Otherwise your weight loss journey is going to be a short-lived one.

    Another great video Pal! Looking back at my visits to my great grandma's village I remember she use to have a jug of buttermilk by her bedside to consume throughout the day. She was slim and healthy till the day she passed away at the age of 106. Technically, buttermilk is an excellent source of protein and good bacteria. Although we cannot source real buttermilk (even in India, I think) nowadays, Lassi (made from fat-free yogurt, or Fage 0% greek yogurt in my case) is excellent in three main ways - provides 10g protein per 100g/4 tbsp (mixed in a cup of water for lassi), full of good bacteria and quenches thirst/hunger ( to avoid snacking between meals).

    Hi Dr Pal, the 0.8 grams was arrived at pursuant to an American study, by adding two standard deviations to the average person's requirement, which means a majority of the people will do fine even with lesser intake. While it's a good thing to advocate the 0.8 grams, at least 90% people would need lesser intake. Just wanted to share this, just in case you didn't know the basis for this RDA of 0.8 grams.

    • @sukeshsubaharan4324
      @sukeshsubaharan4324 2 дня назад +1

      Totally true. Especially with populations who have ‘adapted’ to fairly lower protein consumption (ie Indians), don’t need astronomical amounts of protein as suggested by most professionals. This is corroborated by the fact that even advanced resistance trainees here can sustain bulks and cuts on around 0.9 to 1.2g/kg intakes (indicating the apparently sufficient protein surplus over their individual RDA sustaining Lean mass).

    Problem with Indian food is that we have designed all our protiens as a side dish to the mains which is a mountain of carbs. The protiens are made extremely spicy so you tend to eat it sparingly. Fish curry, chicken curry, rajma masala etc. It's a challenge to eat the 1gm/kg protien if you eat curried protiens.

    The intentional transition between languages to make the video more appealing is good while watching a 30-50 seconds reel.
    While discussing health in depth, I believe it is more important that your audience understands the message and that can't happen if the rhythm keeps breaking.

    Dear Dr. Pal, As im writing this, I'm tearing not out of sadness but truly out of gratitude to you. I'm 41 female and have been struggling with weigh loss after my second child birth and she is 7 years old now. For a long time I was standing at 71 to 70kg. You are a truly God sent child to people like me. I have seen your reels a few times but initially I didn't give much attention to it. But my whole world changed since 22nd June. Your videos are my Bhagavad Gita of guideness, motivation towards my healthy lifestyle. Your teachings an eye opener. Today 8th July I'm standing at 66.2kg and still working towards my ideal weight as I'm at 154cm. Never I imagine to see this number at the weighing scale. I used to be soo lethargic, anxiety, brain fog and what not. Now super duper energetic, able to focus and no more mood swings. Please keep doing this great job and love your sense of humor. Because of you i have learnt to implementing good choice of food for my whole family too. May God bless you and your family. Love with full gratitude from Malaysia❤🙏🙏🙏

    Hi Dr Pal - I weigh 84kg and I’m 162cm tall. I know! 😭 Currently aiming for 80-120g protein per day. TDEE is 2100 calories and BMR is 1400. So I’ve been averaging 1500-1600 calories and 90-100g protein per day and lost 1 kg in the last two weeks. I’m in my 40s and female. I go to the gym five days a week during the week and exercise sometimes on the weekends, too. I go to the gym in the morning. I’m trying to incorporate at least a 12 hour overnight fast. I think maybe I could do 14. I’m not sure about 16 because of the gym in the morning. But we’ll see how I feel. My old boss used to do 16:8 fasting, and he exercised at lunchtime. He drank black coffee in the morning. Ugh black coffee! I did try waiting an hour after waking this morning to drink coffee. My body actually still cooperated with a bowel movement after a pint of water instead and I felt awake BEFORE my coffee. And felt less distracted. An hour staring into space and not at my phone did that. Incredible! So I’ll try that again! Thank you for your videos. 🙏🏻😊

      your words sound optimistic but in india especially for vegetarians its very challenging to meet the recommended intake of protein as the foodstyle is slanted towards extremely high carb diet. As Dr Pal mentioned, deliberately one has to do that and he has to be very conscious about taking it. If you dont mind can you share your meal plan so that it will be useful for others, pl list down only vegetarians(including eggs) foods

    So I've been working out from September and lost around 21 kgs (in 9 months) - current weight is 62 and I'm working towards 44 - 46 kgs (I'm 4'8 so that's a very realistic target). I usually take around 120 g protein a day ( from 400g chicken and 2 egg whites) after which I add fibre and a lil carbs to the tune that the calorie intake is around 1200 per day. Don't really think this diet is feasible if I try veg sources of protein though since the calorie intake for the same amount of protein will be a lot higher
    Also have thyroid issues so at 1200 calories, I'm just at a deficit where I lose 1 kg in 1 - 1.5 weeks

    For years, I battled with unwanted weight gain. I just couldn't seem to lose those extra calories no matter how much I exercised.
    But I finally realized that it was my diet which is the main culprit because I was not consuming enough protein and fiber while constantly eating snacks that contained sugar and lots of palm oil which left me craving that for more.
    Then, I discovered a game-changer, Alpino Rolled Oats and it's peanut butter.
    This combo is a dream, it's packed with high protein to keep me feeling full and help me build muscle, plus tons of fiber to maintain my weight. But the best part is this is unbelievably delicious! No boring protein shakes or bland oatmeal for me. Alpino Oats and peanut butter satisfy my cravings without any added sugar. It's the perfect solution for anyone looking to lose weight without sacrificing taste.

    Most people need to be aware of the fact that it's not about how much protein you consume but how much protein can be absorbed by your body that you consume. The bio-availability of vegan protein is considerable less than non-veg sourced protein (60% for vegan and around 90% for non-veg). So if you're vegan then you need to consume considerably higher than 0.8gm per kg of body weight. It should be around 1.2gm per kg of bodyweight to offset the lesser bio-availability of vegan sourced protein. Also do remember that our body can absorb only 25-30gm of protein in one meal. Anything more and that is going to get filtered out. So you need to eat frequently with less portion sizes not exceeding 30gm protein in 1 meal to optimize nutrient absorption.
