Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is a role-playing video game developed by AlphaDream and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS in 2009.
The game follows Mario, Luigi and Bowser as they work together to take back the Mushroom Kingdom from the clutches of Fawful.
Note: Due to poor emulation there are instances of incorrect sprites throughout sections of this game.
Notice how even a TAS can't take the Fawful Express down until the very last station.
My friends older brothers friends cousin did it in one.
@@ShaftersUploads I'm assuming that's sarcasm.
@@ShaftersUploads Cap. Vid evidence or it def didn’t happen.
Maybe they could if they let the train burn for more turns, but that's too slow
it might be possible if you stall out the battle against the grenn hill monster. The fawful express takes some damage evey turn if the "armor" is burning
The fact bowser literally walks by pipes that supposedly lead directly into him still makes no srnse and I love it
I mean what would happen if he was able to go trough one ?
@@monodia180 ruclips.net/video/gmLKLde6-pY/видео.html
@@monodia180 Considering Mario and Luigi shrink to enter bowser, I would think bowser would also shrink, but this would make the pipe exit smaller as well, so Bowser would probably shrink infinitly until he vanished, unable to exit the pipe
If Bowser somehow gets inside himself then we get space that exists inside bowser that exists inside and so on and on. Real strange though.
@@aladushek2124 maybe it's like putting a bag of holding into a bag of holding, simply entering the pipe causes a temporal rift

A couple months ago I decided to start watching this TAS while I was going to bed. The night after I began, my near lifelong pet tuxedo cat had stopped moving around and eating. I laid in bed with him on my lap for the full five hours of this TAS and he peacefully passed away in his sleep during the ending. Any time I’ve missed him since I’ve always come back to this TAS video to remember how happy our last night together was. I’ll always love you Cookie. I still miss you.

@@bioshock2712 what’s your point
@@bioshock2712 A TAS still requires someone to play the game and input the required actions, it isn't just some AI doing the work.
@@LoggSmiddYT it is still impressive but is made way easier due to slow mo and frame by frame made it way easier to do things like BLJs and such.
@@bioshock2712 the entire purpose of a TAS is to push the game to its theoretical limits, farther beyond what a human could possibly do. The effort that normally goes into learning and performing a speedrun in real time isn't lost and if anything TASing a game requires the knowledge needed to play at a top level plus far more hours to perfect every little movement and action down to the frame.

The music of this game is criminally underrated! It deserve top 10 easily.
Absolutely everyone loves it.
i forgot how MASSIVE this game is until i just watched this
Yep the tas playthrough didn't even scratch the surface.
i was literallywondering just yesterday when a new BIS tas would bemade, when i saw this was uploaded just today, i laughed my ass off. good stuff to the TASer and people behind TASVideos for archiving it here!
I love how it's touched on in the very beginning that Peach has some kind of magic, but then, for the rest of the series, it's literally NEVER touched on again. Like she has magic for like five seconds and then she somehow forgot she had it.
Other than that mini rant, this is really freaking cool. This is going in my "Cool TAS Playlist"
TBF, she used it again at the end of Dream Team, but it did nothing
Made even worse because she uses it once more at the end of Dream Team and then forgets it again
Ive never seen this game played before and im actually astonished by how high quality yhe sounds and music are
It is pretty hard to find on emulator due to the various changes of orientation of the screen‚ but I highly recommend it. The gameplay is top notch‚ it gave me hours upon hours of fun. There is also a remake on 3DS‚ if you wish (imo not much improved compared to the original but heh)
@@nuttyjoe There's no getting around it‚ the best DS emulator is DeSmuMe. There are lots of customization options and compatibility (the one you're looking for is turning the screen to the right). It does take a bit of memory and power which leads to slowing down for less than optimal computer. If that is a problem and that the numerous options to speed up DeSmuMe are not enough‚ you can try MelonDS‚ harder to set up and with less customization but higher performance
@@benikujaku4567 If it's a remake, how different can it be?
I highly recommend it. If you do get it. Get the original it’s better than the remake
@@thehiddenninja3428 the 3ds remake has worse frame rate, because they sacrificed the fps for fancy backgrounds, and also imo a lot of the music just doesn’t hit the same as with the original. Also, the title screen got downgraded, and the challenge node got nerfed(it went from hell to just a bit tricky)
3:47:00 I thought it was so weird how the DS made us wait for the alarm 😂 brilliant video

"Appearing like an ugly rabbit from the hat of a magician who stinks"
4:28:30 It's amazing to watch TAS intentionally take damage just so that it can deal damage back.
it intentionally takes damage because it shortens the robot's turns. otherwise he wouldve had to do 3 more full turns just to get to same spot because the end of the fight is scripted once the robot reaches a certain health percentage.

BOWSER'S HERE FINALLY

Out of curiosity, I figured out that the TAS mashes the A button about 127 times for the Snack Basket. (The part I took calculations on is the last use at 4:41:55.) Here’s my math:
The formula for finding a singular hit’s damage is:
(Attacker’s POW * Attacker’s level * Attack constant)/(Defender’s DEF)
Everything else is self-explanatory, but the attack constant is a number that varies between different types of attacks. It’s how a jump does less damage than, say, a Falling Star hit. For a Snack Basket, the attack constant depends partly on how many times A is pressed, which means I can figure out the number of A presses by figuring out the attack constant first.
A non-lucky hit from Snack Basket does 278 damage to an appendage. The item Luigi has equipped gives a 15% multiplier to special attacks, so taking that into consideration, Luigi would’ve done 241.7 base damage. Knowing that, what we know is:
Luigi does 241.7 damage.
Luigi has 95 POW.
Luigi is level 19.
The appendage has 104 DEF.
Given that, we figure out that the attack constant is 13.928. (Fun fact: A Falling Star with three large star clumps totals a 13.60 attack constant, so this number is HUGE.)
Now, Snack Basket depends on three factors, all of which are multiplied to get the attack constant.
-Factor 1 depends on how many snacks Luigi gets. Since he got all of them, factor 1 is its maximum of 1.00.
-Factor 2 is equal to 1+((3 * the number of button presses)/64). Since this is what we’re trying to figure out, I’ll get back to this later.
-Factor 3 is hard to tell from the video alone, but it’s determined by when Luigi slams down. The closer to when Luigi hits his peak height, the better. I’ll assume the TASer opted for the best possible timing, which means factor 3 would be its maximum of 2.00.
From this, we can finally figure out how much the TASer mashed. 1.00 * 2.00 * factor 2 is equal to 13.968, so factor 2 is equal to 6.964. From there, we can get to the answer of 127 button presses.
(Keep in mind that this isn’t 100% accurate. The math itself is correct; however, there’s no way for me to know the exact damage the Snack Basket did. The damage was likely a decimal that then rounded to a whole number, meaning I might be off by a couple of presses.)
So Snack Basket damage is based on the number of A Button mashes and not whether it is Excellent?
@@86bottlesofmustard In a way, yeah. Snack Basket’s damage is a lot more variable than I thought it would be, but yeah, how much you mash A really does matter.
Not sure how I didn't figure it out, considering the Fire Flower and Falling Star damage also don't care if the attack is Excellent

I think this could more be called a Glitchless TAS
I blame the dang tutorials
So, the screen switching thing going on throughout the video. Do you just have templates that you apply? Or are you having to manually re position the screens manually every time? Or is it not actually something in the editing, but done while recording?
The layouts are all made beforehand thanks to previous DS TASes and what's selected are the ones that are required.
However. The editing we do is figuring out the timings which are then assigned to a letter, these letters are then placed into the layouts. This movie has 570 screen-switches if you're curious.
If you want a screenshot or the actual file used of what I'm talking about just hit me up on Twitter and I'll show you.
