Out of curiosity, I figured out that the TAS mashes the A button about 127 times for the Snack Basket. (The part I took calculations on is the last use at 4:41:55.) Here’s my math: The formula for finding damage based on POW and DEF is (attacker’s POW * attacker’s level * attack constant)/(defender’s DEF). Everything else is self-explanatory, but the attack constant is a number that varies between different types of attacks so that different attacks do different amounts of damage. The number of times the A button’s mashed goes is calculated to get the attack constant, so the first thing to do is to calculate that. The Snack Basket did 278 damage to the appendage that didn’t take a lucky hit. The item Luigi has equipped gives a 15% multiplier to special attacks, so taking that into consideration, an itemless Luigi would’ve done 241.7 damage. Knowing that, what we know is: Luigi does 241.7 damage. Luigi has 95 POW. Luigi’s level is 19. The appendage has 104 DEF. Given all that, we can figure out that the attack constant is 13.928. (By the way, this is a huge number. A Falling Star with three large star clumps totals a 13.60 attack constant.) Now, the attack constant for the Snack Basket depends on three factors, all of which are multiplied to get the constant. -Factor 1 is how many snacks Luigi gets. Since he got all of them, factor 1 ends up being the maximum it can be, which is 1. -Factor 2 is equal to 1+((3* the number of button presses)/64). Since we’re trying to figure out how many button presses happened, I’m getting back to this later. Factor 3’s slightly presumptuous, because it’s hard to tell just from the video. It’s determined by when Luigi slams down, the closer to when Luigi stops moving upward the better. The likely case is that the maximum number for factor 3 was hit, which is 2.00. From this, we can finally figure out how much button pressing happened. 1.00 * 2.00 * factor 2 is equal to 13.968, so factor 2 is equal to 6.964. From there, some simple arithmetic gets us to 127 button presses.

This brings back childhood memories.
Maybe it's just me, but the mario and luigi parts feel like some meticulous planning for maximum time efficiency, while bowser is just so impatient that everything goes fast.
I cant believe that the carrot eating minigame, that i was stuck on for 30 minutes and soon beat it got beaten in 7 seconds impressive
3:00:56
Bob-Ombs: BOWSER'S HERE!
Bowser: *bye have a great time*
I love this game it brings back some good memories ❤
😌 agreed
I never even played the game before but it still has a great final boss though.
1:58:11 Vibe check
“Pass……pass….wait…..nevermind, pass………pass……….hold up….*Failure*”
In 3:17:30 just nailed the puzzle 😂
WTF? 😂😂😂
2:45:45 A Mario Bros conversation at it's finest
Too political
2:49:48 I remember this being so hard to do as a kid
That's not so hard, just hit her with the hammer before she stomp on you
Same
It's still hard even older
you can wait until luigi appears on the screen
Ty man for the info I actually didn't know that :0
The Durmite boss always takes so long, because of the constant straw summoning, but you weren't strong enough to knock it out with one bro, nor without a Bros. Attack
It's funny to me that, whenever everyone leaves Bowser's body at the end, what will happen if Bowser gets sick? Mario and Luigi have already killed off his immune system💀
Bob-ombs: HE'S HEREEEE
Bowser: "ignores"
Bob-ombs: 😢
What a great childhood we had
It’s one of my super all-time favourite TAS games ever!
All those times as a kid failing the carrot challenge and this guy does it in 6 seconds 😂
Something within me always gets triggered whenever a speedrun stops to get an item. But I have to admit this TAS was crazy to watch like the fast inputs at times go to the speed of light.
i like how bowser freaking dies at 2:29:43
Istg the bros have more personality here than in any other Mario game including the mainline series, especially Luigi he’s so goofy
2:36:54 that punch timed perfectly with the music lol
I still can't believe as a little kid I had almost 50 hours on this game
Omfg same
Rookie numbers 🥴
Me 33
But i didn't speedrun
Nice job on the timing in the level ups and getting at least +3 each bonus
He used tools
This is a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS). He probably used tools to time it perfectly.
Why are Mario and Luigi so close to each other? Are you able to move a bit during the cutscene or something? 37:55
3:21:27 what kind of shenanigans is TAS pulling here to do that?
screw balloon mode
This is amazing and there’s still room for improvements too! Love to see this game get pushed to its limits
while yes.. note that is gonna require more rng manipulation something even a tas cant do more off
Boss Fights Go Like This
Alright New Boss Time To Use that new atta-
Bowser: Ima Punch it
3:08:07 TAS missed a cloud?
JAD // Jeevan & Arjan Dhanota thanks, didn’t know this! Ive been angry for the past 3 hours from this.
@@JADhanota it wasnt on fire either
So? The express just went under the hill so it had full health.
MAN this brings me back
2:26:08 Bowser Sneezed Loud!!
Bowser got corona
HARRRRRCHOOOOOOOOUGH!!!
Something that always bugged me about the opening, the little toad boy skipped school. He cut his class short to go home early. And as he got home, from his shortened school day, dinner was ready. Now, I dunno about you guys but I usually don't even think about eating dinner until at least 5 in the afternoon, so why tf does toad school last that frickin long?
Dinner as in 12:00
Dinner is just the name for the biggest meal of the day, which used to happen at noon because people needed the calories to work on the farm.
Holy cow I never had this game but I TOTALLY remember it being the $50 one and everyone was like holy cow it's sooo expensive...
Today the average Switch game cost $60.
my entire childhood... in 5 hours. bruh.
when bowser roars all i hear is I RULE
That’s actually what he is saying and when you press x or y to switch to him he says “what”
It's still sad to know we'll never get another M&L game.... But... The ones we have...Are always endlessly funny. Especially with luigi. It won't ever NOT be funny.
I miss these games dearly. It's always a blast to watch these. EVEN THOUGH THIS COMMENT IS A FEW YEARS LATE. SO SHUT. I KNOW.
You know... its never to late to give up for alphadream who knows? Maybe they are making an comeback😉
@@eymennotreal Bro they're bankrupt, the team has disolved, they all either lost their job or found new ones
@@charakiga nintendo can just continue it by giving the Company to any of there team
@@eymennotreal You just explained the problem.
Nintendo.
Guess what
Who knew that speedrunning this game could be so wild
OH MY GOD THIS GAME WAS MY CHILDHOOD 😭😭😭
even if you hated this game, you gotta admit the soundtrack was amazing
But who could even dislike it?
Ikr
The soundtrack of this game will always be the best I've ever heard on my life. I loved every single track. But my four or five favorites are and to be Cavi Cape, Plaque Beach(Inside Bowser), Fawful's Theme, Toad Town, and the Final Boss Battle Theme
the soundtrack of this game is more or less, the only song I liked was the boss battle.
A game ost has value only if it is bound to a previous memory.
Most people who hasn't played a game doesn't care or aren't impacted by the ost in the long term
1:15:45 lel, now you've unlocked the Bowser peen level
