I found it really funny when you mentioned the ‘cold, bleak style’ of Normal People bc that is just the standard look of most (if not all) BBC series. It’s a reflection of our weather haha.
I haven’t watched The Rehearsal, but reading the synopsis, the concept reminds me of this short film called Adieu Boheme that I randomly happened to watch. I’ll definitely have to check out The Rehearsal after hearing this VERY high praise
The second half, and especially the overall finale of EEAAO is some of the most awe inspiring and emotionally resonant filmmaking I've ever seen. It's a real shame that even after a second watch it didn't seem to click with you. Personally I don't think I'll see a more captivating and powerful film for the rest of the year.
i think the “laundry and taxes” scene in everything everywhere all at once makes the second half just as good as the first like the whole sequence of waymond explaining how he copes with existence is just beautiful
The thing about the last 45 minutes of Everything Everywhere All At Once for me is that the “humorous” moments don’t land as humor to me. By that point, I’m so invested in the movie and its characters that the moments land genuinely. SPOILERS AHEAD: When the hibachi cook is crying about losing his companion, I’m not laughing but crying with him. When Evelyn and Deidre reconcile in the hot dog universe and do their dance, I find that it means so much to me because of what Evelyn is doing for her across every universe: showing her that she can be loved. All those little moments that people around me have laughed at, I have cried cathartic tears at because the Daniels all relate it back to the central message of the film: that nothing matters, and there is always something to love, so be kind. That’s just my two cents on why I think Everything Everywhere has become my favorite movie of all time.
Thank you, I didn’t really know how to explain it but i felt exactly like this. Every gag universe becomes part of the message and makes it stronger with its weirdness
@@richiespicer6396 I saw the message to be how optimism and nihilism can live side by side. Acknowledge that you’re a small cog in a big world, but yet, understand that you can do so much in little time.
Have you ever tried that show “The Bear”? I didn’t really get what people were talking about when they said it was good, then I tried and I get it now. Extremely well done drama.
I really regret watching Normal People few months ago when I should've watched it when it first came out, when everyone was talking about it (kinda sad how when I watch it now the hype was already down lol) but hey it's better late than never. And I agree, Normal People is basically how everything I wanted to be for a teen romance series and I love every single minute of it. One of my favourite miniseries of all time. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal's chemistry is flawless, just wait till they both became Hollywood's next big superstar in the future because both are so talented
I remember everyone telling me to watch it when it came out and I just brushed it off lol. I watched it at the end of last year and I was so in love with it I definitely wish I watched it earlier too :)!
@@nutellaJar the things is, when my friends told me to watch a certain TV show, after the dissapointing GOT season 8, I turned off their advice because I'm just so afraid that I got invested with a show, love it so much then either gets cancelled or ends poorly and I felt like I wasted my time. And sometimes it happens to me, sometimes it took me months to move on from a show that ends extremely poorly. Which is why I rarely watch TV shows and just go for movies instead because it managed to complete a story in 2 hours. Or even a miniseries that can took me atleast a day to binge all. Granted my country doesn't have Hulu so it make sense why I wasn't aware that Normal People came out in 2020 but yeah, that was the main reason why I rarely watch TV anymore
@@catharticmemefairy2088 I don't think I can buy the book since I don't live in Ireland or even America so I guess watching the miniseries is enough and I'm glad it's really damn good. It's the same thing for Lord of the Rings Trilogy or Godfather. Buying the book is hard in my country but watching it in movie form is quite easy to buy
I have been rewatching a lot of childhood gems, seeing what holds up and what doesn’t and just trying to get some nostalgia. A film that I think everyone should watch bc it's incredibly underrated is definitely Wiñaypacha (Eternity), the photography and script is honestly breathtaking.
So interesting how you felt about EEAAO, I actually much preferred the second half (not to say the first half is by any means bad) but it got away from all the PLOT about the multiverse and its specific quirks and turned it all human. I think if it had just commited to being a quirky action movie it would have landed so much more flat to me.
I would personally suggest a Korean tv series called “alchemy of souls”. It’s a high fantasy historical drama that is 20 episodes long, that is soon to have a part 2 coming out in December. It’s genuinely such a unique concept as it’s set in the past but has modern day features such as hairstyles and makeup/cosmetics but also magic/sorcery. The villain is genuinely so despicable yet has depth, the chemistry is palpable, the characters are well written and the cinematography (for a tv series) is amazing. It’s also well paced and it genuinely deserves way more hype! The fight scenes are also so well executed and tense.

@@duck-friend Well, I'm trying to make up for time I spent not watching great films.
Always great when you upload. But you cannot escape Air Bud Karsten
You gotta check out Ed wood
everytime month it feels like this video is coming earlier
I started better call Saul this week and was extremely impressed
We met in virtual reality surprised me.
I went in to laugh and I came out of it impressed
this month has been all about succession for me
I feel the same about Everything Everywhere and Prey. Didnkt love them but really enjoyed both. And yeah, The Reahersal is great.
My wife and I binged “How To with John Wilson” this month, and were completely blown away. Check it out.
That’s a funny show. I never thought I’d be fascinated with scaffolding.
I can't believe I found another human who agrees with me that Everything Everything All at Once is exhausting.
Yes! Review The Rehearsal. I recently finished it and I need someone to help me understand what exactly that was.
The Rehearsal is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before, its so damn bizarre and hilarious. The amount of thought put into it doesn’t make sense to me and the fact that it still broke my heart and made me have an existential crisis also doesn’t make sense. Please watch this show if you haven’t people
Ripper Owens or Rob Halford should have played the conductor and blasted the song Bullet Train.
August isn’t over yet is it KARSTEN
