Funny you should mention the idea of a double feature of Titane with Christine -
I recently had the absolute joy of attending a double feature screening in Manchester UK of Titane (my first viewing) followed directly by Pixar's Cars (2006). It was one of the craziest, most hilarious moviegoing experiences I've ever had. Fun people, good cinema, great times. Highly recommend hosting that one if you're looking for ideas.

Hello fellow person from the UK. I agree, but what I will say is that with the buzz it's getting, I imagine the release date will be pushed forward a bit. For example, I'm pretty sure Banshees of Inisherin was not supposed to be released this week, but it was pushed forward due to its buzz. Still a shame, but I imagine we are looking more at end of December/early Jan than we are February. We'll see

So glad you loved Aftersun. Paul Mescal suddenly became a favorite of mine when I was floored by his screen presence in his few scenes in The Lost Daughter. I then watched him in Normal People to discover that the particular allure he immediately conveyed in The Lost Daugher is utterly consistent. I'm always facinated by actors who can convey so much inner life in such an understated manner. It's like the camera can see straight into their being. I love your monthly recaps because they always contain a healthy handful of must-see's.

Funny you say that. I honestly REALLY wanted to like it and I’m in love with all of the individual elements, but I left kind of unsatisfied. I thought that the big climax was kind of rushed through considering the great sense of tension trickling all throughout and Lydia’s decent into surreal paranoia that felt like it didn’t really go anywhere. I also saw a lot of Eyes Wide Shut echoing through Tar which was nice.

Just watched your short film, ‘Dirtbag’, and I have to say - I enjoyed it. I think the concept was very good and original, something I would have liked to come up with. I think there were some nicely composed shots, especially some of the establishing ones.
I also found the offbeat dialogue/humor really funny and kind of heart warming. All in all, I think you’ve got a really good eye for what should be made today, and I’m excited to see your progression. Cheers!
P.S. I like your significant use of still shots. They’re so underrated these days IMO, and I think you utilized them quite well. It matched the offbeat, dry, atmosphere you created.

I know a lot of people didn't gel with White Noise, but I actually really liked it. I only read a tiny blurb about the premise surrounding a town facing a chemical leak, and was not expecting it to be so much more than that. Definitely a flawed movie in certain sections, but I really loved the absurdity of it. Can't wait to rewatch when it gets a full release. Also that end credit scene is *chefs kiss*.
I absolutely fell in love with Aftersun though. It's funny because I'm usually a HUGE horror fan, but my two favourite movies of the year (Aftersun and Close) are both extremely emotional A24 movies. Love me some A24 horror movies like Pearl, X, Bodies x3 etc, but Aftersun and Close completely blew me away. I guess I just really loved crying this year lol.
As for other notable movies I watched this month, The Banshees on Inisherin (5/5), The Menu (4.5/5 LOVED this one), Shoplifters (4.5/5) Häxan (4/5 and one of my new favourite documentaries ever), Barbarian (3.5/5) and the new Hellraiser (3.5/5). I wont even get into the horrible or meh ones I watched this month because there were A LOT (looking at you Grimcutty and Halloween Ends).

I saw Triangle of Sadness this past Sunday and I love it. It’s one of my favorite films of 2022 and the funniest film too. Sad that Charlbi Dean Kriek has passed away, she was really good in this film and was going to be in a lot for projects.

    This month I watched,
    *Breaking Bad* - 9.5/10
Amazing and Lived up to the hype.
    *Bhramastra:Part One* - 5.5/10
Visuals and Action Sequences were amazing, story could've been done a lot better.
    *Black Adam* - 5.5/10
    It was fun and fine.
    *Memento* - 9/10
One of the most unique and interesting premise executed very well. One of Nolan's best works in my opinion.
    *Se7en* - 10/10
My favourite thriller and one of my favourite movies ever made. Acting, Cinematography, Story, Direction, etc., everything was top-notch.
    *Vinland Saga* - 9.5/10
Just Beautiful. Simply Brilliant. Watch it now. Season 2 is coming this January.
    *Kantara* - 7/10
It is the most hyped thing in India right now. I think it was good but not that great.
    *Zodiac* - 9/10
It was very different than expected but I love it. The documentry style was a nice decision considering the story. I HAVE to check Fincher's other works this November.
*The Host (The Korean One)* - 7.5/10
Kinda disappointed. It couldn't match my excitement with Bong Jong-Hoo's other works Parasite and Memories of Murder. Still a really good monster flick and every one should check this out atleast once.
*The Killing of a Sacred Deer* - 8.5/10
One of the weirdest and unsettling movies I've ever seen. Brilliant performances. The score may increase if I re-watch it.
*OldBoy (The Original One)* - 10/10
Speechless. Can't put my words why I love this movie so much. It's just feel like a thunder caught in a bottle.
    *Blade Runner 2049* - 9.5/10
    Amazing, Stunning and Beautiful.

Long shot for an old comment, but here was what I had to write after seeing Tar:
    Composing a lie
Silence. The concrete walls in her home, of which, the layout baring stark resemblance to the labyrinth of compartmentalization in her mind are also similar to the encoded messages she keeps receiving from a mysterious sender. Lydia is calculated, to the very second, she is under the illusion, the very same she explains in an interview, of her control of time. She tolerates everything around her unless she can control it. Every move she makes, every breath she uses, she is calculating how it can all fall under her spell, her need for complete control of the situation. A pen clicking is a death sentence, an assist alarm for a sick fallen elderly is a hymn, the extinguishing of a flame is her rhythm. Where sound exists it’s hers to control. Lydia creates so many mazes in which she can lose her thoughts, her demons and her guilt, that when she is unable to navigate the thread-like grasp of control in her life she is confronted from all angles the darkest secrets of her mind. It isn’t until the illusion is broken that she is unable to regain any sense of strength or identity and under the weight, she collapses, no longer recognizable as the cool, calm, collected sense of self. Everything is a crashing crescendo until the final drop of fading notes of anything of once herself slowly slipping deeper into the darkness. Linda is no longer able to keep her composure, her mask, her lie. She stands alone orchestrating an empty room desperate to maintain any idea of what once was. But no longer. In total silence. Just the way she likes it.
