- A short video explaining how to get into the advanced bios for the lenovo legion 7i. This version has intel i7-10750H cpu and nvidia rtx 2080 super max-q discrete graphics card. CPU options are extremely limited as this is a locked processor.
Change settings in the BIOS/overclock etc. at YOUR OWN RISK. Tampering with settings without knowing what you are doing can cause computer complications and potentially void your warranty.

I've tried this multiple times but every time I f10 and press f2 to get into bios again, it lights up for a split second than it's a blank screen. When I don't press f2 after exiting, it reboots normally
go to settings > recovery > advanced startup then restart and go into uefi settings

This didn’t work for me, and other alternatives mentioned in the comments didn’t work for me either. My main goal was to under volt, the CPU, and I did find a way to do that. I had tried throttle stop, but for whatever reason I couldn’t change anything inside of it. In the regular bios somewhere there is a CPU over Clock section. Enable that. Once I did this, I restarted the computer. I then checked Lenovo Vantage, and there is a new option called CPU over Clock. I downloaded the driver, and restarted my computer again. I then open throttle stop, and I could finally make changes. if anyone has a question, please ask and thank you for the help.

@@bekzatdauletkeldi693 if you have the same model as me, then, I couldn’t enter, advanced bios. I tried multiple different things, and it didn’t work. I have yet to find a way, and there’s a chance that they locked advanced bios completely, while making the laptop.
You can try what other people have commented, and if that doesn’t work, hopefully the option you want is in the regular bios, not the advanced bios

this is the max your memory controller supports. 3200mhz will clock down to 2933, if thats all the CPU memory controller will do.

@@johnpositive2386 I ended up replacing the motherboard lol honestly I replaced everything got a 3080, new ram, new case (cause the motherboard I got didn’t work with the legion case connectors) I shoulda just built from the start. Only thing original is the i7 the legion came with. Now I know why everyone says prebuilt suck, but hey I can sell the legion once I get an i9 lol

Just use (fn+R then fn +N) and you do exact same advanced bios.
I actually saw that somewhere else but it didn’t work for me surprisingly. I even tried it again to humor myself right now but resulted in disappointment lol.

That I do not know, my friend. That’s why I specifically labeled the video as Lenovo LEGION 7i. This is the laptop I currently own and have not owned any other Lenovo systems before this. Perhaps try the fn+R then fn+N when in the intital bios before saving and restarting as the previous comment suggested. Maybe that it an option for other Lenovo products!

@@jellyjuice2534 Try Fn+R+N together 3 times then save and exit and again enter bios by pressing F2 , it should work . Then reply if it works

@@Vladyugi No I haven't. I also have Intel. The latest bios update enabled my Gskill memory to run at 5200mHz.

@@Vladyugi Yes that is max speed because ram was bought two years ago by now, higher wasn't available yet. Before the bios update it only ran at 4800 speed. Before you buy 5600 or higher, better ask Lenovo first if it is already supported, otherwise waste of money.

Please give and advice. I don't know how but my Lenovo Legion 5 ryzen 7 4800h with rtx 2060 115w reached 140w and I don't know how I did it. It was in auto mode not even performance. I switched the laptop off and on and now back to default. I even took photo of it. Hardwareinfo and msi afterburner both indicated the tdp and temperature went up to 80-82 C⁰ of the gpu. Did not throttle at all was pulling 1900+ Mhz steady.

I just read the readme on the latest BIOS version for the Legion S7 (HACN35WW), and it said you can't flash to a previous version. Is anyone able to confirm this, because I've heard that AMD users (like myself) are getting bad performance because of it.

If there are, then what are they named in advanced bios, the power profiles (silent, balanced, performance) power limits, maybe even for 2 sets, one on battery, another when pluged in. Can i have the CPU on battery silent clock speed 400-1200 MHz and when pluged in, then 400-2800 MHz?

I have same Laptop /w 2070s. Man this Insyde Bios is pure trash. I had to enter this code 5 times until I got the Advanced Mode, but at next boot it's gone again. very annoying. I put in Kingston Fury 3200 SoDimms and this trash Bios configured it as 2933. In Advanced mode I can at least select the XMP /w 3200, but then when I activate it it doesn't even populate the timings, just changes the Freq. to 1800. I booted with 3200MHz but timings were from the 2933 settings.... I am seriously dissatisfied with this INSYDE trash, it's worse than any normal PC Bios I had 10 years ago...
Every time I try after the F10 step my screen just stays black forever.(power light and keyboard still lit). I end up giving up and holding the power button down and turning it back on. Tried the fn r and n method I've read about online(some in the comments here too) But no luck. My laptop is running fantastic as always though I just read about xmp giving you a gaming edge and wanted to try it out but the rabbit hole has brought me no where closer to figuring this out :/ Maybe it's time to finally build a pc tbh

It's different on this laptop. This guide is for the 5th gen Legion 7's, not the 6th gens

Have anybody tried with ThinkBook 16p G2 ACH? When I follow this procedure, the device is lock in weird state. No booting at all and battery indicator is red flashing. This can be moved back by 5sec pressing of power button.... But in this weird state im not able reach bios at all... Any idea guys?

I have a question about this laptop. Is there an option if you have two drives installed a way to disable one or vice versa in the bios? I have an older Dell G5 that has a menu where you can turn off any of the drives installed and use one or the other or both at the same time or you could disable both and boot from an external USB C.
For my laptop, you can upgrade the ssd, so you are indeed able to have only one drive. But it comes with two already that are decently fast, so I don’t know why you’d only want one drive? If anything, I’d choose to still have two drives but just upgrade to ssd with faster speeds
@@jellyjuice2534 no what I mean is say I have two drives installed I want to disable one in the bios so I can have two different windows drives I can flip between. My Dell bios let's me do it.

@@johnkeii thanks, but I know that one. I want to turn off the drive I am not using just so Windows doesn't see it in case I get a malware, keylogger or ransomware on the drive I am using actively. That way one is always clean.

Ah gotcha. I’m really interested in the new legions with amd and better gpus and new cooling system. I want to see how they work out. You’d need a better cooling system since Ryzen tends to run hotter anyways. But I’m curious if they will lock the chips or allow OC. And see how diff the new cooling system works in comparison to our versions. Newegg has the new legion 5 for $1900 right now. If I wasn’t broke after buying parts for my desktop PC, I’d get one just for the flex 😂

In left menu, if you click the first option and, in the right section, you go down to the end, the last option is the language of bios

Did you change the drive that had windows on it? If you did that then you have no OS. Put that drive back in and see if it works again. If that’s the case you need os on new ssd
I have a legion 7i with rtx2080smq and i9, just surprise to not see the intel gpu (i just see the rtx one in device manager) is it possible that the 7i didnt come with both discret and integrated gpu?)
I know when you first go into the bios regularly, the start up page shows to startup with discrete graphics or not. I’ve always left it on discrete since I never intend to not utilize the 2080, so idk if it would actually show integrated graphics or not when looking at device manager. If anything, it might show the difference if there is listed gpu 0 or gpu 1 in device manager if you full screen it and take a look

Unfortunaly this only works on the Intel version of the legion. Damn 5600h runs so hot in this thing for mediocre performance. Should have stayed with Intel. Also this platform only gives ya 12 pcie 3.0 lanes instead of 20 pci e 4.0 which is a real let down.

@@aminemandour78 whats the issue? i have a 5600h. compare your temps to ur CPU package power using like hwinfo. 90C may be ok for short burst during CPU benchmark..at 50-60watts. 90c at 35 or less isn't.

Don't do this guys, legion bios are very unstable, I did this, enabled option to override core voltage( didn't change the voltage, all the voltage was at default settings) saved and restarted, fans come on for a few seconds, keyboard lights up, screen is dead, and it loops like this every minute or so.

That’s unfortunate. It was worth a shot. That’s why I had the Lenovo legion 7i specifically listed. You’d think that this would work with all Lenovo laptops but apparently it does not. There was another viewer who had another Lenovo laptop and was in the same position as yourself.
It doesn’t seem that difficult to have the same procedure for their products 🤷🏻♂️
After some reseach i found this and this works for my thinkbook 15 gen 2
1- Power Up and enter BIOS (F1)
2- Press OK at the message
3- Press Power Button to shut it down
4- Holding Fn Key press:
a. F1 -> 1 -> q -> a -> z
b. F2 -> 2 -> w -> s -> x
c. F3 -> 3 -> e -> d -> c
d. F4 -> 4 -> r -> f -> v
e. F5 -> 5 -> t -> g -> b
f. F6 -> 6 -> y -> h -> n
5- Release Fn Key
6- Power Up and enter BIOS (F1)

I haven't found the setting to enable undervolt. (i'm now eable to change te cpu turbo ratio limit in throttle stop but is has no effect on the actual cpu clock)

You can always tell when a video is BS if at any point there's a time skip, especially an abrupt and seemingly unnecessary one such as 3:10.

I tried this on my Legion 7, there were no hidden settings and now BIOS won’t boot from the SSD and I get an infinite loop of:
Checking media presence
Media present
Start pxe over ipv4 on MAC
Nobody listen to this, this will only cause more problems to your pc
You must have done something different while thinking you did the right order of operations to get to bios. I’ve done it plenty of times and I know there who have different versions that have done it similarly and others that have shown even additional ways in the comments. Don’t spread the negativity because you did something else. If you don’t have general knowledge of computers then you probably shouldn’t attempt to open advanced bios. But I do hope you get into bios and reset which drive is the bootable one
