The white color really does bring this one to life! Good review as always my dude.
Its only been out for 2mins no way you watched the whole thing :P thanks though I appreciate it!
@@MatthewMoniz right you are :) scrubbed across to the bits I needed to see! Though rest assured I do watch most of them in some capacity 🙌🏼
@@MatthewMoniz Alas only hp transcend, asus zephyrus and MSI making truly white laptops, dell aren't making completely white ones. We need more budget white laptops.
@@MatthewMoniz Do you believe white is supreme over black?
Probably gets the yellow effect or dirty after about a year which is annoying.
I9, RTX 4070, upgradable ram and ssd for under 2000 dollars is a really good deal.
Ya price is fantastic
ahh man I am so freaking jealous, here in India the same config is like 3000 USD 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲

Audio-jack on the left side and being the last port closest to you is an underrated design decision 👍👍
Agreed, my MacBook Pro has that same feature.
Yes those are the things if done wrong you only realise once you have the laptop and can be very frustrating
@@magnus9316 Yep, painfully true.
Totally agree
The brushed Aluminum just makes it look so much more premium with the White color. And the ports design and placement. It's a masterpiece.
I like the way he complains about the sticker guy in every video, 10/10.
Well, if only the sticker guy did his freakin' job...
I just got my own and these stickers are not even real

I've been eye balling the Legion for a while. Thanks for the review. Now to find the money. lol.
This is the best 2024 gaming laptop ive seena review for. Great work matthew

oled screen, keyboard without number pad and good sounding speakers, that's all Lenovo needs to add to this laptop for it to be the perfect laptop.
Agreed
Just buy the asus G16 😅
Yup this is so close to perfection
@@deveshyadav3099 I've been hearing a lot about thermals and noise issue on that one sadly and on top it has soldered ram and doesn't go upto 64 gb RAM 🙃 imo Rog G16 2024 is the closest to perfect laptop for me if it solves these issues

Had the 2023 Slim 7i with the H and was loud toasty on the gpu and memory, was getting on quite 100fps and 80-99 fps on 140w gan lenovo charger ($39.99). I fell in love 💕 with this 2024 white with the HX and gpu and memory Temp drop significantly and cpu as well crazy stuff, now quite mode is really quite and i get 150 fps and 120 on 140w gan Lenovo charger. man this thing is crazy good, even running balance with lenovo chip is very quite and fps is passing the 200.... just love it.

Could you please make a video with the Legion 9 2024, the 4090 model love your reviews brother need to get your take before I pull the trigger on one!
I like the cam image, and the micro is ok. Which one is better compared to Yoga i9
I just went for the Eclipse Black, it’s just everything I want in a gaming laptop.
Lenovo Canada finally brought the white one to Canada! It just showed up on their store a couple days ago.
Finally we get something decent = )
a little note, my white slim 7 does attract a lot of dirt/dust on the keyboard deck. might or might not be the same for the new legion 7
Bro I ordered the i9 14900 HX AND Rtx 4060 with 32 gb ram and 3.2k display 😊

Hey Matt, any plans on reviewing any of the new lenovo yoga pro gen 9 models? Thinking about getting one but would love to hear your opinion first!
So happy it has numpad!
is it better to go for the pro 5i for gaming or the 7i?
Can you please make a comparison video of Lenovo Legion 7i vs Asus Xypher G16?
That does look good.. I think the G16 looks the best out of all the new designs I've seen so far.
The G14/16 is on the top of my list this year but damn this 7i is a beauty!
The G16 is horrible unless you get the 4080 or 4090 variants, the G14 is pretty decent but not worth the price
@@HQuiDIn my region only 4060/70 is available for G16, why is it horrible though?
Very loud cooling. 4080/90 has vapor chamber
@@googking4166 the 4060/ 4070 variants get very hot and start to thermal throttle because they come with standard heat pipe cooling, which is not enough to effectively cool the components in this thin a chassis
I wanted to go for the G16 but Asus is downright horrible with their tech. I just bought this legion 7, can’t wait to get it tomorrow
Would you recommend the i7 14700HX version over the i9 14900HX? I heard the i9 can throttle? Otherwise great review!
which one did u bought?
@@nikhilrmahi Decided on the i7, may as well save money if it’s just gonna throttle with a 4070
@@TheRedMistification how’s your experience with it? i’m thinking of buying the same laptop but I’ve seen some guys having issues while switching to dedicated GPU. i’m also thinking about going with i7 processor and 3k screen rtx 4070. do you think it will work fine?
@@nikhilrmahi I haven’t bought it yet, just decided the one I’m going to get is the i7 3k 4070, same as you.
It is a pretty good deal. My Lenovo was top end 2 years ago, but I won't upgrade until Nvidia comes out with a 5,000 series GPU.
watching this on my 7i lmao, great machine. Does everything i throw at it without issue!
How does the Lenovo legion 7i 2024 compare to the Acer predator helios neo 16 2024?
Thanks for the video. I just upgraded the memory in my new 2024 Legion 7i.
I also went from 32GB to 64GB (I used for my case Crucial RAM 64GB Kit (2x32GB) DDR5 5600MHz ). I must mention that when you start the laptop, screen will be blank for few minutes while it recognizes the new memory. Just wait and it should work.
Also, I added a second SSD and made it my main SSD as it writes a little bit faster. I got the Samsung - 990 PRO 1TB Internal SSD PCle Gen 4x4 NVMe (Later on, I decided to keep the old SSD in a box as a backup with the original OS) very easy too clone. I will probably get another 990 PRO SSD with 1TB or more to make it a second on in the laptop.
I do a lot of photo editing using Adobe Lightroom and also TOPAZ AI (which uses a lot power).
This is not you average laptop, so please read all the reviews you can find so you the the right one for your own needs.
Awesome! Thanks a lot for the info! Really looking for someone to try this.
Have you faced any setbacks with the laptop yet?As I am now confused with Lenovo Legion 7i vs Asus Xypher G16? As they both have nearly the same configuration with similar price points now. Just Display (OLED) and Processor difference.
Please let me know how you were able to decide on Lenovo Legion 7i. I am very confused.
@@BiswajitKeshariMohanty I have no issues with it and no regrets. Just did a 300 edit raw photos in lightroom with new files from a Sony 7Aiv that are around 35 Mb each and near 100 Mb on few photos when converted to Topaz AI format. Very smooth and fast.
@@eddie_santos Awesome. Thank you for the response, Bro!
is this laptop better than hp spectre x360 16 for cad and light gaming???
5600 Mhz ram that's upgradable! That's really nice.
I had the older Legion 5 Stingray White. This Legion 7i makes me wanna upgrade and change to the newer one. Yes, I’m a sucker for white laptops 😂
This laptop with the new 55W Ryzen 9 16Core 40CU (RX 890M) + 60W RTX 5090 + 64GB RAM + 4TB M.2 SSD. 3600 cash worth. Waiting for the AMD version of it as Legion Pro 7 Gen 9.
I have placed an order for the Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 14 (i9-14900HX, RTX 4060 8GB, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD). I would like to know the approximate battery life of this laptop.
Can you compare it with blade 16?
It looks amazing and props to them for improving their laptops. I got to say though that I got a legion 7 a year ago and it has been nothing but trouble . They sent it to me with a lower wattage charger (240watts instead of 300) so I cannot run the laptop in performance mode because it consumes the battery after like 1hr or 2 while gaming, the hdmi stopped workings after a few days, I tried contacting Lenovo and they took a forever to reach back and once they did they never contacted me again and they told me it would take 20 days to fix the hdmi. I will never buy a Lenovo ever again. Not sure if it is because I live in Switzerland and their customer support sucks here but what I disappointment.
Seems like a lemon. Sorry you went through that
just bought mine for 2500$ CAD (black but still) Great prices right now on lenovo!
Damn bro 😎 that’s a big harmonica 😂
The white looks fantastic but is it gonna stay the same in a year? Don't think so.
more white laptops for sure, every model should have one. wish yoga 9i did
I just want to see how long it takes before the keyboard and palm rest get grimy and dirty
I am mostly concerned the screen would wear and tear. Due the screen is so thin when you carry a full bag with laptop .
is this going to be available in amd
i wish the keyboard has more contrast
I have heard that the keyboard gets really warm during the gaming , is this real and how much?
I think the reason it does that its because of the aluminium chasis that transfers some of the heat to you, but surprisingly the infernal temps are great
I will buy a Legion laptop again. In 2021..remember '21, when there was NOTHING on shelves, for months, people were buying prebuilds just for 1650 gpu... Lenovo had the Legion laptops in stock, I mean it wasn't like plenty, but it was not that hard to buy, yeah I had to take the 3060 model because 3070 was harder to get, but ... solid thermals, usb-c dp, dp, hdmi, i had 3 monitors connected, most of the ports in the back, 165hz display, gsync, 16:10. But at some point I said why do I have this, if it is just sitting on the desk, it's not a laptop that can be used as laptop, not with powerbrick as big as the laptop, and battery that would last an hour. So I swapped it for a desktop, only to complain that it is much noisier, and difficult to clean the dust with all the intake fans, and I barely use the proper desktop cpu and desktop 3070. I has the right solution all along, and I will now get this white one.
The tech spec in lenovo site says Nvidia RTX 4070's TGP is 115W but the in video it's says 130 W as TGP
I am little confused, could anyone kindly explain this ?
The microphone on the webcam test omg . Is it legal ?
Most weird thing is that when Jarrod compared thermal on cooling pad, then it gave higher temp as compared to without it
Did the cpu or gpu draw more power when its on the cooling pad?
Because they can detect the lowered temps then boost higher for more performance, which will increase temps.
@@hyperion8382 he just showed the temperature results
the lack of per key rgb in the g14 2024, non upgradable ram make it a dealbreaker. i love this laptop’s design and the rgb keyboard along with the numpad is quite nice.. I’d want a low reflectivity, high refresh, bright, glossy OLED screen, preferably 4K in my next laptop though. I want a screen with good pixel density as even the g14 left me wanting for more pixels when i tried it out. razer’s switchable resolution thing is needed in more laptops for sure!!!
You needed more pixels than 3.2k in a 14” screen? lol dang
@@conner_productions Yes and 16 inch
@@armaanmodi the g14 doesn't have a 16" display
@@conner_productions I know. I would like 4K in both 14 and 16 inches but I would go for 16 inch one, the G16
Lenovo made the white color great again
A 4080 would make this a must buy, but, of course, a little more expensive.
What should I choose between 1600p vs 3.2k display? Pls anyone tell me... I'm bit confused (I like gaming more as well as other activities like watching movies, 3d modelling...)
Lenovo Legion 7i - It’s Expensive!
Can the 4070 support 4k, 240hz external monitor?
thank God this is not OLED
please explain, is this same for productivity
@@sankat000OLED could be worse working with a simple text. Battery life is worse. OLED screens do flicker (VRR, PWM). They don't need to, but they flicker by design. That is in exchange of popping colors and quicker response times
dude can you just share the stock wallpaper of it
Why no Ethernet port
My only issue white a laptop is how long or will it still retain its white color over time. I have a Lenovo Slim 7i Carbon Edition and I noticed after a year of purchase the keys is not the same white as the exterior color.
I’m sure it will be fine and about time the color shows wear you’d probably be looking to upgrade anyway
7:37 I have upgraded to 64gb ram successfully last week
I like the new WLM movement.😆
I'm in. 👍🏼
The links for buying don't work, unfortunately.
Tx Matt
Thank you!
My dream laptop, sadly, the price is too high here in europe.
Living in China, I bought this exact model last week. It's great for gamin, but the fans in performance mode are like jet engines.
I don't know why but if you spec this up to the i9, 4070 in INDIA, the price is around $3000..??
Glad you mentioned the oled panel Matt, IPS in 2024 in a premiem product...cmon lenovo. I wont be a customer
Right now the Yoga Pro 9i is just the better buy: Miniled and better sound for a similar price. Lenovo needs to step it up on their gaming laptops. They used to best in class, but in 2024 they've become also-rans.
this with OLED and a 4060 would be an instant buy for me.
No lan?
The white one is not available in Canada 😱
Does the camera have Windows Hello?
Do you recommend the 7I or the ASUS G16? I really want the 7i, but I'm afraid it's too heavy for my needs. I'm a student who games really. appreciate the videos Thank you!
I personally prefer the ASUS G16 because of the OLED display, the option to spec it with a 4080 and its a bit lighter
@MatthewMoniz Soldered RAM though. If you can't afford the 4080 or 4090 G16, I would go for the Lenovo Legion 7i for the extra RAM and because the G16 only gets a vapor chamber with the 4080 and 4090.
Literally the G16 only has the OLED screen as a benefit. I think Lenovo did a good job with the Legion 7i, apart from the Copilot key. I use the right control key a lot so that's a downgrade...
@@MatthewMoniz THANKS!
@@cameronbosch1213 THANKS!!
it's a .4 lb difference. Does that actually matter to some people??
I saw this laptop, however I am confused between this and Zephyrus G16. I found this laptop way too heavy, however the internals are amazing. I am basing my decision now on screen, keyboard and trackpad but I am not sure. Any suggestions what I should get. Mostly my work is editing and machine learning related.
Keyboard on both are good but trackpad, screen and weight are better on the g16
@@MatthewMoniz I heard that the g16 thermal throttles crazy and really under utilises its specification. Should I just get a 4060 g16 or is the 4070 actually able to perform?
@@divyanshchauhan168 depending on your market, the 4060/4070 g16 are only 16 GB memory soldered. Unless OLED is really worth it to you I would get the legion. Another thing to remember is that Lenovo has a very cheap extended warranty and is good, unlike Asus. In terms of weight, it's a .4 lb difference lol...
@@schassismx3115 and I heard that the g16 can blow you away from its shaking screen, it shakes so much that it works like a hand fan

@@maxrinehart4177 nothing really they are exceptional laptops but 2025 seems to be the year that major design and hardware changes will take place for most companies. So for me it makes sense to wait and see.

"Performance mode gives you great performance" welp that's all I needed to hear, point me to it
is the legion 7i 2024 the same as legion 7i slim for 2024? or is it different now?
It's the same thing. They dropped the Slim nomenclature and make it simpler with Legion and Legion Pro.
Can you plug in RJ-45 into white? Nope.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 in white is the No. 1 laptop among Windows laptops 💻 (a la MacBook design)
And the fact that it's equipped with a 240 Hz OLED display automatically makes it better than a MacBook.
And it's display hinges gives you more cooling because they work as hand fans...
Better deal than the G16 in most regions I guess, in Thailand at least this is much cheaper than the G16, and seems more powerful, bring one of these with an AMD processor and I am in.
Why no rgb
The price is too high for that display. The color gamut isn't nearly high enough to justify the price, IMO. I know the G16 has some issues and downsides for sure, but one can't argue that its display is far, far superior, at the same or a cheaper price than this (the G16 is often on sale).
I got the stealth 16 ai. Its way better with the core ultra 9 :D
Wooahhh Moniz, white male laptops have had it pretty good for awhile now. Chanting that we need more white males or that they are superior, particularly in a public setting like this, is freaking troublesome. You notice how this white review unit got so many more stickers, AND they are straighter than laptops of other colors? That's not a coincidence. ---- (Lol, have a great weekend man.)
hahah love it. Have a great weekend as well!
Matthew, why you hating on the sticker guy suddenly? You were the only one in the industry who supported the sticker guy!
He’s threatened my family
Why does Lenovo rename / re-structure their line up every year? Anyway, nice looking slim series as always but removing most of the io from the back wasn't the best idea. It just doesn't justify the trunk anymore. And place goddamn trackpad in the middle already!
Saving the slim for the ultra chips maybe.
What’s better because I can not pick zephyrus g14 or legion 7i
Go Legion. I was in the same dilemma. You will not regret.

for gaming or general use? if it for gaming the extra 2gig of vram is preferable for smoother gaming.
@@maxrinehart4177I thought the 4070 and 4060 both have the same amount of vram? 8gb. If the 4070 has more vram it’s not even a question, i’ll get the 4070.
For me as a cubase user numpad is a must, Oled makes no difference and id rather not pay for it and laptop speakers are shit regardless 😂
as an ex owner of a white laptop. If you work with it without an external keyboard be prepared to clean it every 2 days.

very sad
I could live with the worse speakers if it had an OLED screen but as it stands there's nothing that can replace the G16 for me
Hand fan can replace it's screen wobbling
Hope you never need to use their warranty lol
@@PromikesBrother you have went on every comment and replied this. I currently have both a legion 7i and a G16. The screen does not wobble like a hand fan. It only wobbles if you move it around a lot. As a matter of fact, my legion has more screen flex. You would know this if you had tried either laptop.
they should have gone for the new ultra chips
Would this laptop be too loud for my college cs classes?
I’m wondering the same thing 😂
Im hoping next years g16 and legion 7i go head to head with 5070 and ultra 9 (better high clock speed) and oled. Under 2k pls.
I think next g16 screen won't even stay opened on their new 2025 hinges... it will just drop on the back, this is the way to win this wobbling
@@Promikes look its just a structure problem they didn't realise. G16 was redesigned this year, they will probably refine it next year. that makes me hopeful

It's available on Lenovo Canada's website now.
Like other comments said before (already in your Blade review): there is 100% something wrong with your battery figures for the Blade 16 2024. Battery life is significantly better than 2023, as proven by many other reviews (=less energy consumption). I have had way more battery life than this as well and it’s not that far away from the G16.
