Enjoyed seeing the car and speaking with this owner yesterday at the Electrify Expo. He hat two of the there. Fun to see.
Glad you could make it out!
For the windshield, use Bar Keeper's Friend and a sponge and water, scrubbing in a circular motion. Then rinse, let dry, and use sprayaway glass cleaner and a wad of newspaper to polish it.
Definitely don't use brake cleaner!! It'll destroy any adjoining trim.
I’ll give it a try thanks!
I use what sounds bad but has worked for me for years is steel wool with soapy water
My favourite car youtuber, old EVs and variety, perfect for me!! Continue great videos!!
:)
You never say that your boyfriend shouldn't watch. Then he definitely will 😄
I know :(
I love these goofy old things so much! They are like slightly insane elderly cats.
@@supershikoku that's quite an accurate metaphor 😄
For your glass, use car polish and 0000 steel wool, then finish with soap and water wash, then add rain-X😊
I saw a video of someone converting their citicar to an ICE and it made me so sad. I'm glad we have people like yourself who keeps these EVs going or even giving them the upgrade they deserve!
Love the Electek videos, the cars are definitely in the “so bad it’s good” category 😀 Have a great time at the Expo
Thank you very much for showing us your car collection and your expertise on electric cars
I'm here for the C-Car. I own two of them. Almost done with a Lithium conversion on one.
0:00 Wait a moment O_O White like Porsche Taycan 😂😂😂
I was going to leave a mean comment per your instructions but I just couldnt think of anything mean to say after seeing your enthusiasm. 👍👍
I will fight you
Super cool ! Congrats
Cheered with joy when i saw this, love this car.
40yo rope kept snapping? Who would have thought?
I saw your Electrek cars at the Electrify Expo show, but missed you.
Thank you for showing your fine examples of early electric automobiles.
Great video!
You can buff and polish glass with a fine rubbing combound and a polishing disk. I do this for the windshields of classic cars where the glass is faded and has alot of surface scratches, also deep cleans the glass nicely
When i was little, i had to clean the mirrors and would use newspaper and windex instead of towels as it would prevent streaking. Maybe that would help?
The streaks and marks on the windshield are micro abrasions and pitting - any old windshield will have that, I know my 40 year old classic does. There are rumours of polishes - I'd just take it to a glass place and see what they say.
I suggest the use of a rubber mallet or a piece of wood if you gone to use the hammer to absorb part of the impact. Those solid state controllers have the tendency of melt the components weldings due to the amperage. When a vibration is added to the board, the transistors and diodes terminals get lose from the board and become to open the circuit and fail.
Your channel is underrated. I found it trough the wedge video but your other content is well edited and back to basic car fixing. The reason i started watching many other car chanels that are now not that interesting anymore. Keep up the good work, hope the youtube gods keep blessing you.
Have out of spec detailing Coleton help you with the windshield!!
Ooooo that’s a good idea
I love your collection and your dedication! I remember seeing a UM Electrek Panel Van for sale on Hemmings in Highlands Ranch many years ago (possibly your exact panel van), and I was very much enamored with it, although distance and money weren't on my side at the time. Mostly forgot about it after it sold, until I saw you and it on Aging Wheels! Once you're ready to sell the 2+2, I would definitely be interested.
Is the plan to update these old electric cars with modern components? Such as Lithium batteries, hyper9..etc?
he's fitting Tesla model 3 batteries to them
He already did @@sam_64
I would totally own an Electrek but nowhere to store it!! I also have no idea on price haha;;
Nice chatting with you at Electrify Expo!
I love this Chanel one day I want a old school Beatle with a 4 speed and a electric motor that would be fun for all the worng reasons
I would only do that to a Beatle if the motor was unfixable.
@@blackterminal ur not worng if I were to do that if the motor was too far gone otherwise I would put a turbo on it
They were pretty sketchy with a 1300 i dont think i would want more power in one 😂.
@@HA05GER I would wanna see the experience
05:35 well
If it's deep streak/scratch
You have to polish it,
Hitting those fins with that hammer hurt my soul!
They were fine!
You need some Vice Grip Garage shine juice. You prob wont worry about paint for a while with this.
You probably want to keep it as original as you can, but before selling it, it would make a great video if you can run through what the parts necessary to modernise the battery , motor and controller would cost and where they could be sourced.
Imagine putting in some SDI packs. Probably can get 60% more range out of it.
Hammers are great tools, but they are equally great at shattering aluminum heatsinks with seemingly little force. Sacrificial wood blocks are your friends if you must wack on them. Carry on!
Try some vinegar and water for the window, should come right off after a little soak.
Plexis for the plexi windows. Or you could use some rouge polish not at too high a speed.
I don't understand is there at least one Elektrek EV in your collection restomoded with Lithium ion batteries?
One is restomodded, on isn’t
Bestie ❗❗❗❗
Slayyyyyyy
This car looks like a child had drawn it. But in the best way: it is adorable... Cute even.
In the last video you talked about using 2 Tesla cells to make a new 48v battery. Why not have a 2s2p or even 2s3p.
Not sure of it was one of your cars he showed but, Aging Wheels loves electric vehicles, has 3 Coda cars, he may be interested in buying it off you.
Does Robert from @agingwheels know it might be for sale? Pretty sure he said he wanted one when he drove it a few years ago.
Is that a Ford Pinto windshield?
That's some fine fit and finish around the headlights.
Have you tried a razor blade on the windshield?
Hockey tape (poor man's tesa tape) looks more professional than electrical tape.
It also doesn't dissolve into goo and become a pain to clean after a few months!
I like #0000 Steel Wool for cleaning glass, usually with some sort of lubricant (Dawn). If not that, clay bar sometimes works, or a buffer, maybe gentle BKF solution. I'm surprised you haven't let Colton get his hands on it for an episode of Out Of Spec Detailing on an old obscure EV, we'd get another episode of the Electrek and it would probably come out spotless
Honestly I forgot Colton existed. Don’t tell him I said that
Proud of you
Thanks!
that inverter module placement feels so wrong , one hit in the front and thr whole car would be ruined. if the circuit fails it can be repaired by someone with enough skills but if the thing gets smashed you can not buy a new one like that , fortunately other inverters are easy and cheap to get from china but it wont last 40 years and the charm of having it original would be gone.
although one thing i would recommend changing is the batteries. once these led acid dies you should just switch to two 48v lifepo4 server rack modules in series. 10kw is enough to drive around town but it looks like it has enough space to fit 40-50kw worth of server rack style lifepo4 modules.
Lol ladies and gentlemen and everyone in between 😂
Try brake cleaner on the windshield .
It'll leave some streaks afterwards, but anything actually stuck to the glass will come off. Just follow it up with normal glass cleaner afterwards.

you need to get a refund from the Therapist you are seeing.......LOL
Mean comment... no not really.
