It really great to see that even these old Evs are still usable with a little help.
Awesome! Love to see out-of-support vehicles getting "third party" support! Cant wait to see what this battery pack looks like assuming you're invited back
Yo the manufacturer is still around? 😂
A US milk float. Neat!
but no battery swapping :(
The design of the van looks awesome and modern! 👏👏😍😍
That is a cool looking delivery van. I love these early BEVs. In the UK in the 60s-80s milk was routinely delivered using lead acid electric milk floats
The USA contrary to the UK used traditionally ICE milk delivering vehicles. On the contrary in the UK entire history of those vehicles is electric only. That's why they use a special name milk floater.
It is odd/bizarre that Colorado had a history to try to electrify those vehicles even it failed as an attempt.
That particular vehicle in the video looks well enough to be converted to a cool local RV/camper.
Intriguing video!
To the contrary the term, Milk Floats predates self-propelled vehicles. including electric ones... It is just the compound word of milk and float.
The word "float" can also refer to a low-bodied dray used to transport heavy goods. And milkfloats were originally horse-drawn, that that became common in many European countries, Not just the United Kingdom.
It's just in the UK the electric version, became iconic and endeared. But the origin of the term has nothing to do with the electric version of the vehicle.
Makes sense they electrify them in Colorado, as electric motors aren't affected by altitude and thinner air like combustion engines are.
@LouisSubearth, then why would they even more popular in the UK?.... correlation does not imply causation....
Amazing in the USA they were designing the electric milk float at a time the UK had just about finished with them.
Here they were a regular every morning sight on our streets, throughout the second half of the 20th century.
Smith Electric Vehicles, a UK milk float manufacturer, moved to the US about that same time. They produced the Newton electric truck in Kansas City, IIRC. That truck was produced and sold about the same time as the Boulder Electric Vehicle truck in the video.
I hope they get it Moo-ving soon!
I like it. Looks friendly with it's round eyes 😊
I rescued a pack that had sunk to about 2V / cell recently (also with Orion BMS). I used 0.5A though, not 20.. lol, good luck.
Growing up in the 70's in the UK where milk was almost exclusively delivered to your door by an electric 'milkfloat' it seems a little odd to see such a modern looking electric vehicle. Where I lived we had Wales & Edwards, three wheeled electric open sided milkfloats (unrefrigerated) that delivered milk in the early hours of the morning. You still occasionally see them up for sale as curiosities and they seem to mostly find a retirement as display stands in large shops.
European milkfloats are so iconic, that they are fairly well known across the pond too.... Enjoy your trip down memory Lane.
Do you know how they got their name?
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode of 'As the "Milk Float turns' (my favorite EV soap opera)., I wait with bated breath for the next episode. Hope you can milk it for all it's worth.
🤣🤣🤣👍

Have the flashing lights warning loke 5 seconds before the flashing lights come on
👍
Can you find a similar cell same age and date and replace it?
HI BESTIEE
hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
Why do you seem allergic to mentioning Morning Fresh Dairy’s name or putting the logo on the van in frame? Only watched a couple minutes so far, but it’s something you’d expect to come up in the video’s intro. Also, the proper location of Bellvue.
Flashing warning was far too late
flaaaaaaamer
Man what is up with the finger nail polish?
It’s cool?
This is just an intro, definitely not a finished investigation
Ask for a refund. $0.00.
Best line yet ! Smells like cows up here 😂🫶🏻
