I really love seeing how you use things in unique ways. I would never have thought to use the rectangular steel tubing to make the pulley holder but it worked so beautifully. Watching you expands my imagination for these sorts of things even if I don't have cause to build exactly what you did. Thank you for sharing.
It’s fun process! And it was kinda by accident. As I originally planned to bend some flat bar to make that shape and just so happened to be looking behind my shop at something and saw the end of that tubing and thought “dang… I think my plans just changed”😅
Love watching how you turn regular stuff like golf balls and lug nuts into usable things! The metal you turned into brackets was great! You should show us what you have laying around as scrap! You always have the perfect stuff to make projects! Good to see the goats get tired sometimes! 😁
Love your up cycling of products... the background clouds look like you will be getting more rain. A true blessing for your location. Wishing you and your family a blessed week, gentle autumn weather and restful evenings. Peace brother.
That is a really nice build Joe. The whole goat barnyard is extra sharp. I even like the goof (golf) ball pull cable thingy. Your builds often have fun things.
It’s always fun to see what you can come up with with random stuff. It fosters innovative solutions…. But sometimes it falls short and makes you have to do the project over too. Don’t ask me how I know😂
This is a really great project. If you have ever looked at barn door hardware it can cost a ton depending on how much durability you want or need. I knew those workbench cutouts would find a home, eventually. So, you need to start looking for another drive in theater to restock your used steel stash. Thanks for sharing.
Oh man, I NEED to find another one soon! I’ve got pieces left but they are all really bent so they are really just good for little 2-4’ sections. And with the layers of paint snd rust they require a LOT of prep to use. But I actually did find another drive in near Morenci AZ there is an old drive in theater that has a screen with similar construction. But you’d need a large crane and lift boom/truck to disassemble in pieces to get it on the ground

Thank you! As for holding up…..I think they’ll last a long time. I’ve got no worries there. BUT the rail/track…. On the unsupported side could need to be replaced at some point.
I am doing a similar project with scrap material. Only thing i had to buy were trolley wheels that slide within a strut channel bar i have and I already have a metal gate and brackets that i will weld all together. I still need to figure out how i will make a latch. May steel* your idea
Trolley wheels for this unistrut channels are really cool! So many cool things you can do with them too! I’ve got no doubt yours is going turn out awesome😀👍
No, for this kind thing I’m not too worried. Plenty of ‘meat’ on both the bolts, washers and pulley wheels. There will be a bit but it won’t make much of a difference out here. If it was thinner stuff, then yeah, but this should be okay……fingers 🤞 😉
It mostly will come from the open side… so wind will put pressure on it. However if it becomes and issue I have another one of throws motor wheels that I could use instead. The wooden wheel was mostly because it already fit that aluminum channel I had. And I kinda want to see how it’d work. But the metal wheel would be a bit more robust if I find that I need to replace the wooden one
There’s no keeping them out unless I lined the bottom of the fencing that will eventually go around this, with hardware cloth. But my dog and cats are pretty vigilant so they’ll alert me if there is a snake

Hey Joe, idk why I keep thinking about this but over time would the hardware start seizing up from rust? Will you need to keep the hardware lubricated to keep it from rusting? Also, I was thinking would bushings be useful on bolts going through the wheels on the top track? I hope I'm not being too over bearing.
