Sometimes it's the clutch fan too. Did a thermostat as you did on my 2002 5.3, the water pump was already replaced.

Indeed. I checked that out too, verified it is working. My water pump is about 10 years old, I’ve never had one fail on me. I had the original one on the truck replaced back then just as a precaution.
