  • My French Cleat System is still pretty empty, while my Workshop is getting messy. Time to change both.
    I build
    two shelves (01:01)
    a glove dispenser (06:15)
    and a plier holder (14:34).
The build of the french cleat itself you can watch here:

Love the fact that you have the humility to show that even you make errors . Bravo!

Love that you left in your mistakes. I am building a glove holder so this is very helpful.

Hi. Instead of using a dowel i found a thin metal strip helps the pliers hang better. You could also use a thin rod af 6mm diameter or less. Hope this helps. The shelves look really useful by the way.

Nicely done! Think it's the first time i've seen someone show their mistakes. Like that!

Thanks for showing the mistakes. Each and everyone of those are mistakes I would have done or have done before. Your handled them far better than I.

I'm looking for nice ideas for a french cleat wall. I like you're a lot. My one thought when you made the first box a tad small was, why not just take the gloves out of the cardboard box and put them in the nice new wood box.

  • @1AXMRDR

Nice video. I like that you included the 'mistakes', we all make them. Instead of making a second front plate I would have just made the hole larger. The next time you go buy a new box the dispenser may have the opening in the middle of the box. That might be the lazy way but it just needs to keep the box in place. Thanks for sharing.

Stopped with the box for the gloves. All you need is a small piece at the top and bottom to hold the box. You don't need a massive box to hold a light weight box. Lot of better ideas for this.

Mount the glove dispenser to dispense downwards. It won't catch dust and debris. Also lets you store a second box on top of the open box.

I feel kind of dumb now. Good idea! I’ve seen glove dispensers allways oriented the way I build it, so I never even thought about it.

You could also build whatever dimension box you want, unbox the gloves and stuff them in your (bottom dispensing) glove box.

Considering that the gloves are supplied/kept in a cardboard box why not just empty them straight into your wooden box? Just a thought

Glad to see the brush you use to spread the glue I got the idea of that kind of brush yesterday for my glueing also I got two similar ideas last week. The box for gloves and shelf you made all on cleats great ideas thank you

There was no need to actually put a face on that box. Simply nail a 1 inch wide piece in front across the top and a one inch wide piece across the bottom front to hold the box in place from tipping forward. I'm not trying to be critical, but just efficient, and saving materials. Also in my humble opinion you could have used one screw in the middle with one nail on each end when screwing the cleat onto the back of the box. You do not need 3 screws across a 5 inch cleat to securely hold up a half pound of gloves. Glue and 3 brad nails would have worked just fine too instead of 3 screws on the back of that cleat. Again just recommending an efficient use of materials for intended purpose. Keep building as efficiency and quality improves over time.

It is a little jig specifically to make holes for dowels. But you could use it to drill straight to a surface either. Bought it on amazon: amzn.to/2uMSH4F

I have that problem also clearing a space on the bench to use. Moving things back and forth to make room. French cleats are great for moving things around or change layout. Everything can be hung on the cleats just making suitable racks is what needs thought. I made a small french cleats and some small ones for putting on things so that I can learn by mistakes and will make full wall cleats when I am finally ready to adapt ideas. Good to see the mistakes and improvements in your ideas. Great idea to make breathing room to allow a couple Of millimetres extra to allow ease of inserting and removing contents

For the gloves, you could have just thrown the gloves from the original cardstock box into your wooden one. You didn't need the original box

Who else saw the hole placement being off due to the overlap allowance! I felt so bad for him the second time as well! But, that’s how you learn, right? Looks nice in the end. I see a lot more modules in your future.

It is made by Wolfcraft, and I bought it on Amazon: amzn.to/2uMSH4F
I think it is called something like universal dowel jig.

Well, its actually 12 mm, so less than 1/2 inch plywood. I would not make it any thinner. And it was what I had laying around, I didn‘t buy it to build the box.

Wieso so umständlich verstiften? Das macht man mit "Schifferl" - de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flachdübel

    • @Loulexmakes
      @Loulexmakes  5 лет назад +1
