Have I heard of this Tigrex?
My brother I heard this Tigrex from a mile away.
Molten Tigrex was the reason I stopped playing MH4U back in maybe 2017, I've resented Tigrex since, but recently I've decided to learn the fight, now it's one of my favourite hunts. Coming back to MH4U to fight Molten Tigrex felt like a mission I had to fulfill. Eventually hunted 11 of them to get the gem
Bruh, molten tigrex is the reason why when I came back to play mh in world my favorite monster was instantly nerg, then ruiner, then the devil gene modded ruiner nerg
I can't imagine dropping Monster Hunter due to a difficult monster. Personally, I keep hunting and ranking up in order to face the creatures that leave my hands shaking, those that actually make me use a trap out of desperation, where seeing the monster finally collapse after a stressful and grueling battle gives me a huge sense of accomplishment.
If the game's monsters were all a breeze, then there would be no point to the game for me. In recent years, only Alatreon and Fatalis in MHW have managed to recreate that challenging feeling.
use Gunlance, it would be much easier, because you can use a much better shield than Great sword
And you can use it with Mega Juice G. Then it will be much easier

Molten Tigrex is always one of the most dramatic fights in 4U, especially with the fear of getting deleted by a Blastblight Proc. I really hope he comes back in Sunbreak with attacks from Grimclaw like Lucent did

Molten Tigrex was great, if you survived the first minute or so you basically always succeeded. They should always add the monster part trader so you can at least get your favorite sets from monsters they can’t be bothered too add.

man this makes me miss the old world, something about the monsters like these radiated this aura of mystery and absolute power, and i feel like that's been lost for the most part in the new world

I really want them to add some big ass monsters again like Yamatsukami, Lao Shang and that sort of stuff.

Well, theres also a Deviant of Tigrex called Grimclaw. Difficulty might be the highest of all Tigrex thanks to the EX version. Frontier also has a Burst species named Diorex.

Oh, this Tigrex haunted me in my dreams. The first time I’ve fought it was when I was visiting a relative’s house where there was no internet at the time, so I attempted a solo hunt…which went about just as well as you’d expect…
I was so confident, going in with my beefy Gunlance set. But the chipped damage was just ridiculous and it was almost impossible for me to dodge the blast powder, being so slow and all. It was a nightmare.😅

Ah, this brings back memories, I grinded hard for this armor set back in the day, the Heart was the hardest drop to get. Molten Tigrex's armor set was a set I barely saw anyone else wear mostly because the grind for getting the Molten Tigrex Heart was difficult, being both a very low drop/crave chance for it or watching the team get wiped by the 3rd Phase of the fight.
By the 3rd Phase, the aggression and speed of the monster really honed in that the first two phases is childs play, it's when this Tigrex actually did get pissed off is when shit usually hits the fan.
Imagine if this beast returns in a future Sunbreak special update, like Lucent Nargacuga

Yes I have, haven't experienced him from mainline but in MHS1 he was a monster/monstie in the game. Meanwhile in MHS2 he still is a monster/monstie to obtain but his fight is definitely a lot more terrifying. (Since unleveled or without a strategy he can and will thrash your ass into next Tuesday)

@@frostmint3584 In 1 I found Molten Tiggy to be surprisingly easy, if anything Rajang is the real threat of that game. MHS1 HR Rajang is basically the "MHS2 Molten Tiggy experience" of MHS1.

I am so glad to see other people still playing this. It is still my favorite MH game to this day! Although I have the new games, I still find myself booting up this one. Imo, it is the best the old world has to offer! A masterpiece to be sure.

Molten Tigrex is a menace, but having one of the ultra rare Hunting Horn players to assist makes it alot easier. I know my first successful beatdown had this crazy good HH player xD

I miss molten tigrex. His fight starts off a bit slow but as it goes 9n the adrenaline picks up faster and faster. The funny part was when it purposely holds its roar until your shield is down or your invincibility frames from getting up is finished. So many funny karts
i find molten tigrex such an cool monster and i hope to him in newer main line monsterhunter games. and what an suprise it was when molten tigrex was added to monster hunter stories

A lot of people seemed to hate this monster, but I actually really liked the fight. It wasn't terribly difficult. If you already knew Tigrex and Brute Tigrex, Molten was just kinda a bit of a powered up version of them. The major thing to watch out for, imo, was just to not be near it when it rawred at you lol.
I always used GS though, so I grew accustomed to learning to put block up when something big like that happened. Just make sure to bring those HG Earplugs or you can't block them at all~
You guys should try fighting a level 140 Brute tigrex and a 140 Apex Tigrex in 4U. Good content. Please make more videos like this.

I unironically miss negative skills. Made mixed armor sets almost a necessity in G rank, and honestly just felt like there was WAY more thought into mixed sets and decisions for what you would farm and craft.

had 1k hrs in mh4u till my 3ds broke. This was one of the most memorable memorable monsters to me. Moved on to world and hoped that they add molten tigrex to iceborne and future games and they dint.
Yes, Molten Tigrex is one of my favorite Monsties in Stories 2. BUT I have a better one for you. Have you beat... Grimclaw Tigrex? Hehe That one is a fun and stressful fight. Yet I SOMEHOW got through it alone.
One gripe I had with fighting it before was Tiggy is very big paired with a small arena. That size, those moves, coupled with blast blight makes the whole experience unnerving to say the least.
If you started playing MH with the old school games you did not find it hard, trust me lol
God I love Molten Tiggy, it was a wall for me in 4U (second after Teostra) and took me weeks to beat (wasn't playing constantly of course).
Haven't felt that way in MH in years so it became an extremely special monster for me.
I hope they can bring it back for Sunbreak (though it's never going to be the same experience).

Molten tigrex in 4u was the monster I used to learn the guard point timing with the charge blade. It was so satisfying stunning him with just guard points.
Man, I need to get back into 4U. It’s my all time favorite MH game. Though my old 3ds crapped the bed and I wasn’t able to send my games and progress over to a new one. I ended up getting the MH4U Special edition 3ds with it installed but I just haven’t gotten back into it yet…I need to. There are so many monsters I need to tango with again.
I wanna shoutout the beautiful hit effects of MH4U. Those blood effects were soooo stylish. Honestly it was all downhill from there. Hope they ditch the sparks in favor of the nice bloody swirls again in the next game.
Very good video, but. . . every time you say Tea-grex, I get cringed. For thouse that don't know Tigrex is a combination of the words tiger and trex, so it should be said Tie-rex. (even thou the say Tea-grex in MHW)
As far a I can find via the great tool called the internet, it's most likely based on the Spanish word for tiger, "Tigre".
I'll just paste what I found:
Tigrex is a mix between Tyrannosaurus rex and a tiger, hence the name and appearance. Contrary to popular belief however, the first syllable is pronounced like 'Tea' and not 'Tie'. This is most likely for two reasons:
One, the name derives from tigre which is Spanish for "tiger".
Two, the pronunciation for Tigrex's English name follows the one for its Japanese name, Tigarekkusu (ティガレックス).

I love this content. Good storytelling, giving us the nostalgia. I miss MH4U. The best MH title for me. Really missed the adhoc days, playing with friends and strangers in person. Been part of the tournaments and events back then. Idk if you guys are familiar with the Slay all Seregios event before, a charity event for our friend with hemophilia and bring awareness to all of that rare disorder. Damn, good old times.

The fun part about Molten is that he starts slow so I was like "man hes so slow lmao" then he gets progressively faster and kicks my teeth in.
I've memorized the regular Tigrex moveset, but it was almost useless because of how big he was combined with his blast clouds

Not to flex here, but I feel like I'm one of the few people who never struggled with Molten Tigrex in 4U.
Idk if it was because I always used Dual Blades and learned to dodge or what, but I always hear from people that this monster was impossible, especially my friend who has played Monster Hunter with me since 3U. He mains hammer, and was completely unable to kill the Molten Tigrex by himself (he's a very good player too). Yet I never struggled....
Anyone have insight?
i thought he was easy, too. haven't fought him in the gathering hall yet, just the caravan quest. i was actually surprised when i managed to kill him. i was like "wait, that's all?"
@@snowcloudshinobi I've seen a lot of videos of people failing the quest, and it's always due to not dodging, not counting roars, not knowing safe areas, etc.
It really makes me wonder sometimes.

Molten Tigrex is my favorite Tigrex by far. Although it is much bigger and hits much harder than the other variants, it is also slower than them. So once you get the pacing down, you can just GS charge its head and front limbs into oblivion. My fastest solo clear was under 7 minutes.

I'm not sure why, but back in the 4U era, I always found Molten Tigrex easier to deal with than its other counterparts. That is until you get obliterated by its blast... Regardless, Molten has a fantastic fight overall with a lot of potential in Sunbreak

Molten Tigrex is an amazing fight, even if it spammed roars in the recording. (Did you witness its second enrage?) And I pity the poor souls that don't carry the memory when it finally returns. I still haven't given up hope for it to come back in Sunbreak, although I know that chances for that likely are slim if even existent.

Even if they include it ina future update, it's not the same. To much movility and counterattack options in present MH (which is fine, dont get me wrong), but fighting this bestiality with the clunky movement from classic mh, where possitioning was everything and both possitioning and not overextending were the two things that kept you alive...Yea, completely different.
Molten is my favorite, and I hunted a good number of them. Definitely one of the most difficult fights I have ever had, on par with Dalamadur

This was great. I love the chronicles of your adventures. Makes me miss 4u as it is my favorite game in the franchise with the best story. Molten goes down as one of the most memorable deaths my friends and I have ever received from the MH franchise. Molten knocked me and a friend over with his powder charge, then as we were getting up, he roared. We were both coated in blast dust, so you can imagine what happened 😳 my second friend saw it all go down and saw the quest fail

For some reason me being a massive noob I had no big trouble with the molten tigrex, but the gold rathian... The bane of my existence!
Fighting Molten Tigrex with a charge blade is my all time favourite hunt of the series.
His attacks give you the smallest opening to get your next guard point in, it's insanely tense and exciting.
No other fight has induced a 2 day coma of doing nothing but repeating it over and over because it's so fun since.
Honestly Molten Tigrex isn't to hard for me tho yeah he deal a LOT of damage (I defeated the G rank one with a friend today (first try tho) and it ohko'd me , I got BlastBlight and stunned as he then yelled and it killed me with full health at max and G Rank (caravane 10 actually) Dahren Mohran (good defence plus elemental res (except to Thunder and Dragon wich it is insanely weak to (-20 both))
Tho the monster that became my NEMESIS in the monster hunter games is PINK RATHIAN BECAUSE OF THAT GOD DAMN URGENT QUEST IN THE MAIN STORY WHERE YOU FIGHT HER (It took up to 2 month of trying to kill it)
Jesus I just lost twice to molten tigrex. Its raw damage is crazy even without the blastblight effect. And there's barely any openings between his attacks, plus the area it covers is very huge. Every time he ends his attack animation and when I wanna follow up to get one extra hit, it's almost always too late since he's always so far away when his attacks end. Its tendency to charge sooooooo far away across the map makes it very hard to follow up with an attack.

@@keithcunningham3131 I'm stuck on him currently. I've tried monoblos greatsword and seregios hammer already. Now I'm laying back for the moment and trying to farm maybe an azure rathalos hammer first before going back.

I slayed him many many times and ofc he is a dangerous fella, but tbh nothing compared to Freedom Unites double Rajang.
Molten Tiggys attacks are slow and predictable. He overtelegraphs everything he does when not angry. Which is, in my book, easy as pie.
Stay clear when he's ragin and strike him when exhausted. Goldian and Silverlos are indvidually stronger, imo.
Molten is not LIKE a truck, he IS the truck. Just don't get run over and then disable the engine when he stands still.
It's kinda the final exam to check if you mastered the exhaustion mechanic which was added in third gen.

In your coverage of your Journey to Face Molten Tigrex, I found it interesting how you made it seem like the Monster is exclusive to G Rank. I assume it was to flesh out the length of your Journey.

I was introduced to the Molten Tigrex in Monster hunter stories... Boi was that battle tough. But I can barely imagine how tough it is in the OG game.
Wow, you don't even deserve to call yourself a Tigrex hunter. The TRUE rarest Tigrex is the Deviant GRIMCLAW TIGREX from Generations, Generations Ultimate, and Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. Molten is a cake walk compared to Grimclaw.
I played a little over 3k hours in MHFU and Tigrex was one of my most hunted, I think I was farming the plate for the armor/fun. Mostly with Lance/Gun lance and hammer. Tigrex is just fun to fight. Been thinking about grabbing me 3DS and playing some more 4U, as I didn’t play it as much as some other MH games.
I had like 800 hours in MH4U and spent my time mastering the Guardpoint with Chargeblade cause it was summer vacation, I got my own copy of 4U for like 13 bucks. 4U is probably one of the best MH games though, all the weapons felt absolutely busted when mastered, bunch’s monsters to slay, and some of the best event monsters to ever be created (Dalamadur and Dah-ren Morhan, and Gogmazios are so fun to fight. Akantor and Ukanlos don’t count as event fights imo, they just chunky). Gotta love MH4U.
After beating both Monster hunter rise and sunbreak demos with a hammer solo and beat fatalis and arch tempereed valkana solo in iceborne I went back to MH4. I guess I had crafted the silver rathalos armor then broke through the crimson tigrex. Crimson tigrex ain't nada. Heck after crafting solo golden rathian high rank armor I still had 7 mins and 25 seconds left in my Damaladur solo fight. Plenty of time left. Heck Fatalis I had less that 2 seconds left in world. This was before I had attack jewels on since I forgot that Capcom had a TYPO on it ups attack percentage NOT just a measely points.... I remember why I could not get enough damage on arch tempered valkana solo the first weekend it was out until later that Sunday night I added my like 5 or 7 attack jewels. Night and day. Saw the skull finally. The next night I screwed up the first battle but the second battle I got the skull around the 12 mins left mark. Damn you Capcom and that attack jewel TYPO!!

If your soloing the high rank you may have come across this crimson tigrex after doing a silver rathalos. Maube he never unlocked that in the questline. It is possible I guess. Rude awakening in a G rank form for him LOL. Bring the stuff for 10 puff balls then and how to craft like 20 max potions and life powders and such.
Molten Tigrex is my favorite variant monster in the whole series. The speed, intensity and ferocity of the fight is amazing.
Also, I don't care what Capcom says, it's "Tie-grex", not "Tee-grex". It's "tiger" and "rex", not "Tigger" and "rex".
Good old MH4U. Tbh this was favorite Monster Hunter. I played it over 4000h I think besides metin2 when I was younger this was my most played game.

Cool video but Monster Hunter Freedom 2 came out in 2007 not 2005. Kind of killed the vibe when you started the video off with a fact that I instantly knew was wrong, and was able to fact check on google in 3 seconds.
You should make armor explaining video, I'm playing MHP 3rd but I hardly understand the armor effects and also the negative armor you explain I never knew it before
What I love about this fight is the progression, he starts off slow giving you a false confidence and then slowly ramps it up until he's an absolute speed demon that can wipe your team with those sequential roars and blast procs. But its all worth it for that amazing looking great sword
