What's the title of your review for Monster Hunter World? I'm trying to look for it 😅 not a fan of World either since they made the decorations RNG and the talismans as craftable.
I think the game is at It's strongest when you take on a monster solo, which might be an unpopular opinion. I do really enjoy playing the game with others though, there is just something about learning the moves of a monster when It's only focused on you and taking it down that for me personally is the most fulfilling aspect of MH.
Being born on a third world country and the only kid that has a psp this is my childhood. I remember fighting tigrex on mhfu makes me want to throw my psp. But after dozen of times dying to him i freaking mastered and killed the beast and it felt so good.
I'm looking to start MHW with a friend or two soon but I played MHFU and MH on the 3ds alone and loved every moment. I remember being frustrated but I also remember those fights being so rewarding once I figured out how to solo monsters :) I'm sure playing with friends will be fun but I am going to dip my toes into solo hunts haha
I’d say this is true, until you get to G Rank. After a while G Rank just becomes draining to solo. It’s fun for a bit when learning a monster, but farming and progressing is almost impossible to enjoy.
@@gyuuu1330 I started 2 weeks ago but I've been playing Dragon Dogma...it's almost the same sort of combat mechanics. Both games are made by Capcom. Some dragons even behave the same. I found out about Monster Hunter through a mod for the game Ark: Survival Evolved which added many monsters from the series to the game. I am really impressed with how monster hunter 1 immediately nailed the animations and feel of monster hunter that hardly went unchanged since then, hell the game graphically looks like some of the best on Ps2 as well, that jungle environment looks awesome. Can’t help but to feel cheated at the same time though…they must have constantly reused the same stuff for decades.
MH1 up through FU was basically an expanded version of the same game each time. 3rd generation is where they started trying something different. 3U is still one of my all-time favorite games. I love 2nd gen, but 3rd gen on is where the series truly starts to shine in my eyes.

the story behind me starting monster hunter feels like a major lesson to me, my father bought me monster hunter world as a gift. I never heard of the games and didn’t even know if I’d like game, but because he went out of his way to buy it for me I gave it a try. Some years later my father is sadly no longer with me and I have over a thousand hours between mhw,mhr and mhgu. Don’t be so quick to judge things, you never know if you could really like it.
I still have one of those and it still works believe it or not, i boot it up sometimes and teach my little sisters to play crash bandicoot on it hahaha
as of writing this comment there is 692(nice) hours till Rise that means i can watch this video about 209.69696...(NICE) more times while i wait for Rise
My first game was Tri and I probably had the most fun and nostalgia with that one, I remember being stuck on No Guts, No Glory fort so long because I was scared shitless of Lagiacrus, it was playing the game online that got me passed it, something about playing with other people made the game a bit more accessible in the beginning, and there's just so many memories of that time, Loc Lac is my favourite hub next to Pokki and Moga. Some time after I got Freedom Unite and played the hell out of it, but never got to play online so it was a solo run, but still fun. Only got 3U on ds so made little progress til years later when my brother got it and we had a big playthrough of it. 4U was weird, the fastest I ever got through a MH game online and offline and the least hesitant I was with new monsters, in some ways I'm fond of it, but it was the start of me falling out of the series. Still got Gen and GenU though because my brother insisted we play them together, did end up enjoying GenU in the end, it was a nice nostalgia trip. World is fun, but I haven't got into as much since I don't actually own it, I love the updates to the classic game play, but it really feels like what I was expecting 4 to be. Looking forward to Rise, was put off at first, but after playing the demo a few times I'm actually really excited, it helps that there so much praise for gen 3 by the looks of it, feels like it's all coming full circle to me xD
Monster Hunter has always been one of my favourite series after I discovered 3 Ultimate years ago, and I'm glad it's getting the popularity and recognition it deserves in recent years.
Good stuff man. Been playing and a hardcore fan of this series with my buddies since ps2. It's been a huge part of our lives from elementary school (since we were about 8 or 9ish) to now with the upcoming release of rise with us all being 25+ now. It's kept us all together since the beginning up until now. Seeing some gameplay of the old games like freedom unite and 4u really brings back great memories
Thank you for putting all of this together! It's a fascinating thing to listen to even if...admittedly, I already knew most of it. I just like your takes even if I don't always agree with them lmao Speaking of, damn you did NOT deserve the flak you got for your critique of World/Iceborne. I freely admit, I'm an oldschool hunter, I started with MH1 wayyyyy back in the day. BUT I also think that most of the changes World/IB brought to the table made it better. Something something I felt like I fought the monster more than the camera/controls in general. But you put your points together succinctly and even if I didn't agree, I got where you were coming from and it was interesting to listen to As far as my own stupid hot take goes: clutch claw wasn't that bad imo, but maybe that was just because I rly vindictively enjoyed using it to crash monsters face-first into walls, enough that it overrode the part of me that was mad that hitzones were jumbled up to accommodate tenderizing This got rambly but yes! Thank you for the video, these are a delight to listen to
Thank you for this. I joined the series in World, so have no knowledge of what came before hand. Through the MH community, I've learnt a few things and was directed to your channel through Reddit forums. I bought a Switch specifically to play MH: Rise and recently picked up a used copy of GenU, so can't wait to experience some of the other monsters in this series.
When fight Zorah for the first time and the theme starts playing, I started tearing up, my nostalgia just flooded and overloaded my brain. This series will always have a very special place in my heart and no other games has come close to make me feel like this. Waiting for Rise to drop on PC so I can smack the new roster with my trusty Greatsword. Happy Hunting Hunters!
I’m so thankful that COVID is what actually got me into MH. I bought world and played 30 hours and still wasn’t sure about it. Set it down for a year and played it religiously when quarantine started
I don’t know why but MH4 ultimate had a decent story and progression in it and was the only MH game that I payed attention to in the story. I don’t really know what it was, I think that the Gore Magala was just really compelling. That game felt like the peak of their creativity in some way
I hope Gen 6 MH brings back skills. because no matter how much I love World, combat is kind of eh for me, unlike GU or Rise which is so fun. I can just imagine how skills would look if they made it for (hopefully Paradise)
I had tried getting into monster hunter world twice, just didn't click with me. Then a RUclipsr I watch made a video on rise/ world. I was like hmm, I kinda wanna play this again. The past week has just been me pretty much doing nothing but devoting 12 hours to hunting. I literally hear the scoutflies when I'm not playing now rofl. I'm very glad that you have a video like this for the vast swathe of people like me that got into the series so late. MH was always one of those games I knew about but never played kinda like dragons quest, it's one of those hallmarks of japanese culture at this point.
same. My older brother bought a 3DS and 3 games: super smash bros, Mario party, and you guessed it MH4U. I played all the games enjoyed them, but the one that hooked me the most and made me happy was MH4U. I slayed monsters for hours on end, but with weak armour and weapons because I was around 6-9 I don't remember, but I didn't understand it very well I still enjoyed it tho. A few years later, Here I am 13 years old, addicted to monster hunter rise, and grinding tf out of it.
As someone who came from monster hunter world and is now addicted to rise. I appreciate this video sooooo much. I want to give the series the respect it deserves and this helps so much. Good shit 🔥❤🔥
I started with Tri and then got a PSP single-handedly to play FU after I saw how much more content it had, I couldn't miss out on all of that. FU made me into a man.
This video reminded me of when I was a kid and found my first monster hunter game on the wii u and I was sooooo confused on what was happening so I just gave up and played Mario kart instead but now I’m revisiting it so thanks for the vid
It's amazing how a seemingly simple game about killing monsters has been able to evolve and receive so many new ideas and content over the years it has existed. It never feels like a rehash or a lazily developed game, but a NEW MH game that anyone can enjoy, whether it be veterans or newbies. It's a series that has aged extremely well.
It's cool to finally have all of your videos together. Was a pain chasing down each one. I'll save this to watch again whenever I want😁. Such awesome content!
Not only have I seen each of these video's separately, bit this is my third viewing of this super cut. Gotta love your tone, very calming but still enticing me for repeat views.
As someone who played every single game available in America water combat is still my favorite thing in any game though the mixed bowgun stuff is up there too
3 hours long? I have found my entertainment for the day 🥳🥳🥳 (“The cult following that you see in the west” Now I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that he’s prob talking about World 👀)
As someone who has been playing Monster Hunter since the very first game, Monster Hunter World is by far the best in the series. there is nothing I would rather have from the old games instead. I'm glad Rise has kept many of the things that World improved.
Monster Hunter will forever be one of my favorite series. My first one was when I was about 9 or 10 in '05. My dad got the original for PS2 and kept getting WAXED. Ended up beating his Rathalos for him and that's why to this day its my favorite monster.
This video is amazing, I "got into" Monster Hunter with Tri Ultimate on the 3DS, being in America I didn't know much about it. Turned out lots of my friends played it already but then I hit some hard times and had no games at all. Times are getting better though and I have a switch and MH: Rise and MH: World on the PS4 (base game only) This video is awesome to be able to have on today and most likely again tomorrow since I know I won't remember it all!
Omg what a treat I can never get tired of watching those. Thanks for your work guys! Its amazing to see older gens getting love and being covered as well.
Awesome video. Legit just found you and I genuinely love this! I won't dwell on it for too long, I just honestly find it sad that (outside of speedruns) some people have so much palm sweat that "always optimally fighting the monster" is a requirement. Like come on, chout big smoke, there's literally no leaderboards, no everything has to be a competition
when i got my first PSP, i was around 10. My parents got it for a chrismas. A friend of mine already had it and i wanted it for a verry long time. When i got it it was like a dream. One day we were in travel, in a foreign country, we entered a little shop, and my parents got me Monster Hunter freedom. Like you i never heard about the game. Boy i spend so much time on this. And one day i eventually lost the console during a car travel, with the game in it. I was SO sad, and furious against myself, because there was no way i got the chance to get an other console and game that i love that much. At my birthday, my parents made me the surprise. They bought me a psp with the new monster hunter freedom unite. I spend a lot of lovely gaming time with this. Thats pretty much how i fell in love for a game for the first time. I dont want to know how much work hours my parent had to do to buy all this, but they just understood my passion for it and made the best present i ever had twice. Thats a golden memory that i will remember if i have the luck to do my kids presents one day.
These games look so good but I absolutely suck at combat. MH Stories 2 is about perfect for me because of this. I wish they'd make more movies too, the one on Netflix was great but just too short.
World is still my favorite, well Iceborne actually is, but that's a DLC so it's still World. But it's my favorite because of the massive QOL improvements over the previous games, almost all of the new monsters are great, from Nergigante which is now iconic to Zorah Magdaros being the biggest monster since Dalamadur. Just all in all an amazing game
O wow. My progrssion through the early games was extremely similar. Played freedom and couldn't get into it. Later decided to buy freedom unite and still couldn't get into it. I decided to show a friend freedom unite because he loved grindy games. He fell in love with it and through coop, he helped me fall in love with it too. Now, around 15 years later, we still play each MH together.
I remember my first exposure being the OG MonHun, but I was a dumb 10 year old w/o ps2 internet, so I gave up bc I couldn't kill Kut-Ku and didn't come back until 3U lol, dumped 100s of hours into every entry since besides GenU/World.
Found the perfect video to lead me through my nostalgic journey through the MH series. I grew up in Canada but spent my teenage years in Japan; everyone around me was completely hooked on Portable 3rd. That’s where I got onboard as well, I got Freedom Unite on the Online Store a few years previously but didn’t know how to gather resources so I quit for a while, and the prompts above your head in 3rd definitely helped me out. Love this series, and love this video! Kudos to a fellow MH fan. Thanks for explaining the goodness of these games to the masses. Looking forward to future uploads!!!
I just watched it in its entirety in one go. Very accurate description of the whole MH franchise. As a player who started in generation 1 I have to say it is the most consistent series of games I ever witnessed. It has 3 core things that it kept doing across all those years IMO: - Hunting big bad boys with big weaponry - Experimentation - Never truly underdeliver It is my absolute favorite franchise and my favorite gaming community in all of gaming. I hope you are having a blast with your upcoming games and videos man.

Watching this while playing Rise
Damn, I wish my school taught me this.
You should be a teacher so that you can teach anyone about MonsterHunter History.
i, as a player who started with rise, watched this entire video. i feel like i’ve learned everything and nothing at the same time.
the story behind me starting monster hunter feels like a major lesson to me, my father bought me monster hunter world as a gift.
The PS2 sounds still send me back to my childhood ❤️
I never had one. It sends me back to times I would go over to my friend's house to play MX vs ATV 🥲
I still have one of those and it still works believe it or not, i boot it up sometimes and teach my little sisters to play crash bandicoot on it hahaha

Time for part 5.8 with Rise.

"69" isn't funny
(Nice)
I'm most shocked to learn the longsword wasn't in the original game...it honestly seems like the most iconic weapon to me.
Great sword is actually the most iconic weapon and has always been the poster weapon except for rise
@@noxccty6200 yeah rise only has it because it was popular on world and rise is the most weeb monster hunter
Great sword?????
@@gray8885 long sword is a lot more popular you don't see anyone using GS as much as LS

This is a very informative video, but the pronunciations make me seethe
Monster Hunter has always been one of my favourite series after I discovered 3 Ultimate years ago, and I'm glad it's getting the popularity and recognition it deserves in recent years.
Good stuff man. Been playing and a hardcore fan of this series with my buddies since ps2. It's been a huge part of our lives from elementary school (since we were about 8 or 9ish) to now with the upcoming release of rise with us all being 25+ now. It's kept us all together since the beginning up until now. Seeing some gameplay of the old games like freedom unite and 4u really brings back great memories
Messaging the homies on AIM to hop on MH
Thank you for putting all of this together! It's a fascinating thing to listen to even if...admittedly, I already knew most of it. I just like your takes even if I don't always agree with them lmao
Speaking of, damn you did NOT deserve the flak you got for your critique of World/Iceborne. I freely admit, I'm an oldschool hunter, I started with MH1 wayyyyy back in the day. BUT I also think that most of the changes World/IB brought to the table made it better. Something something I felt like I fought the monster more than the camera/controls in general. But you put your points together succinctly and even if I didn't agree, I got where you were coming from and it was interesting to listen to
As far as my own stupid hot take goes: clutch claw wasn't that bad imo, but maybe that was just because I rly vindictively enjoyed using it to crash monsters face-first into walls, enough that it overrode the part of me that was mad that hitzones were jumbled up to accommodate tenderizing
This got rambly but yes!
How is the ride?
When fight Zorah for the first time and the theme starts playing, I started tearing up, my nostalgia just flooded and overloaded my brain. This series will always have a very special place in my heart and no other games has come close to make me feel like this. Waiting for Rise to drop on PC so I can smack the new roster with my trusty Greatsword. Happy Hunting Hunters!
"Hoping it's fatalis" how right you were
I’m so thankful that COVID is what actually got me into MH. I bought world and played 30 hours and still wasn’t sure about it. Set it down for a year and played it religiously when quarantine started
I mean, I ain't complaining. I've already watched the series a couple times. This just gives me an excuse to watch it again.
I don’t know why but MH4 ultimate had a decent story and progression in it and was the only MH game that I payed attention to in the story. I don’t really know what it was, I think that the Gore Magala was just really compelling. That game felt like the peak of their creativity in some way
"What's Monster Hunter?" > A Monster Hunting critters just minding their own business in the woods somewhere
Thanks for this. It has been interesting seeing how the games have evolved over the course of the series's lifetime.
All these pronunciations I've never heard before.
Haha, thought the same thing, but then again a lot of monsters never get named in voicelines iirc.
Dragon=with normal straight tail
Wyvern=a winged two-legged dragon with a barbed tail.
That's the D&D definition, no?
Isn't the difference that dragons have separate appendages for wings and wyverns have their wings on the arms
you hit a wall fighting the tigrex? I hit a wall at Kecha Wecha in 4U. Cough you can't lie right analog stick slapped when you get it down.
mh4u was my first monster hunter game and its still my favorite
Same I started with mh4u was a hammer main then and I have been since
Lol "Green Plesioth that son of a bitch" I know that pain!!
Anyone need popcorn? 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
Well, it's 2023, and yes, it was Fatalis.
This video reminded me of when I was a kid and found my first monster hunter game on the wii u and I was sooooo confused on what was happening so I just gave up and played Mario kart instead but now I’m revisiting it so thanks for the vid
Monster Hunter Freedom unite was my first ever Monster hunter game played 🥺🤤
4:10 there is no way this guy said "brief" 💀💀
It's amazing how a seemingly simple game about killing monsters has been able to evolve and receive so many new ideas and content over the years it has existed. It never feels like a rehash or a lazily developed game, but a NEW MH game that anyone can enjoy, whether it be veterans or newbies. It's a series that has aged extremely well.
Chilled to this while hunting on Rise
It's cool to finally have all of your videos together. Was a pain chasing down each one. I'll save this to watch again whenever I want😁. Such awesome content!
Not only have I seen each of these video's separately, bit this is my third viewing of this super cut. Gotta love your tone, very calming but still enticing me for repeat views.
Let's be honest, ppl should NEVER trust IGN for reviews. They're just terrible
As someone who played every single game available in America water combat is still my favorite thing in any game though the mixed bowgun stuff is up there too
My favorite is GenU for sure, it just has so much content. I'm 30 hours in and haven't scratched the surface haha
3 hours long? I have found my entertainment for the day 🥳🥳🥳
(“The cult following that you see in the west” Now I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that he’s prob talking about World 👀)
As someone who has been playing Monster Hunter since the very first game, Monster Hunter World is by far the best in the series. there is nothing I would rather have from the old games instead. I'm glad Rise has kept many of the things that World improved.

Monster Hunter will forever be one of my favorite series. My first one was when I was about 9 or 10 in '05. My dad got the original for PS2 and kept getting WAXED. Ended up beating his Rathalos for him and that's why to this day its my favorite monster.
mh4u was fire af but DAMN does the 3ds hurt my hand
This video is amazing, I "got into" Monster Hunter with Tri Ultimate on the 3DS, being in America I didn't know much about it. Turned out lots of my friends played it already but then I hit some hard times and had no games at all.
Times are getting better though and I have a switch and MH: Rise and MH: World on the PS4 (base game only)
This video is awesome to be able to have on today and most likely again tomorrow since I know I won't remember it all!
Omg what a treat
I can never get tired of watching those. Thanks for your work guys! Its amazing to see older gens getting love and being covered as well.
Anyone els still call it G rank instead of master rank any time I do people go huh what's that lol
Monster Hunter. Hands down the best pokemon games ever made.
At First I thought the german 3 ultimate add was an actual RUclips add
These games look so good but I absolutely suck at combat. MH Stories 2 is about perfect for me because of this.
I wish they'd make more movies too, the one on Netflix was great but just too short.
Learning about everything that Iceborne had going on is kinda overwhelming.
Friends don’t let friends play Gen/GenU.
I love to just game or study while your history vids are playing in the background, your voice is so relaxing to hear. Thx, good work!
Glad to hear!
It has 3 core things that it kept doing across all those years IMO:
- Hunting big bad boys with big weaponry
- Experimentation
- Never truly underdeliver
It is my absolute favorite franchise and my favorite gaming community in all of gaming.
I hope you are having a blast with your upcoming games and videos man.
