I like your videos Luke but I feel you actually hate on this car a fair amount, especially in stock form.
The ZF gearbox is one of the best boxes going, fits with the engine very well and is much better than the DSG in your R that you didn’t have a bad word to say about.
The looks - It’s supposed to be quite an understated sleeper car, that’s what a lot of people like about it. So it won’t have a big wing etc... again your golf R that you never said a bad word about looks very close to a standard golf bar the subtle bumper changes and quad tailpipes. It even sits on skinnier 235 wheels compared to the 140i, that for me is important aesthetically. The interior you dislike more than your golf too. You’ve made two videos about “do I regret getting this”, which it feels like you do. It is quite easy to see that you loved your R (which is fair enough, all of this is subjective), you don’t love this, and the half hearted nature of you trying to make yourself to like it can seem a bit forced. Just an opinion of a viewer.
With the gearbox, he might be trying to advertise the company that did it. The DSG in the golf R is impeccable, you can barely even feel the shifts they’re that fast. It’d be difficult not to judge another gearbox that isn’t dual clutch after one of them. (From being in both cars)
@@romanlonsdale3027 fair enough, you’re right they are super sharp. Though in my opinion the ZF is better for everyday driving, it’s smoother and in sport gearbox set up just as quick.

Never been really into cars but I always find your videos really interesting. You know your stuff which is great. I have a 2014 Golf GTI and whilst I am thinking I might something new and different I shouldn't really so if I don't, what do I need to make it sound great. Cost not that much of an issue, I know you pay for what you get? It might be like buying a new car in itself!!

The 1 actual mod you need is the pro nav screen. Small one ruins the whole interior. Very cheap upgrade as you can sell the smaller unit

@@bwmim9709 I have just upgraded my Pro Nav from id4 to 6 Apple Car Play, its much better. Also had the stage 3 gearbox tune, night and day especially when in Sport mode.
Hi I have a 140i with resonator delete and no opf. Have you a sport downpipe or catless or stock? It makes much difference with stock downpipe in sound volume? Thanks for the answer Bro
What is your daily driver out of interest? I recently bought an e90 330i but being a daily and not wanting to worry about insurance I've kept it stock and just given it good tyres and a nice polish...

How did you get the digital speedo up on the dash?
The quaife lsd allocates power more efficiently than the bmw m performance lsd and it doesn't wear overtime like bmw's own.
Also provides 0 drive if you lift a wheel curb hopping on the track. So good for the street, but not as good on the track. Even wavetrac ones with preload are useless with a wheel in the air. OS Giken for track use (70% lock). M-Perf for a mix, Quaife for Road.
Great power and lovely sounds too,upshits sound like a real exotica, get yourself a eventuri induction and rid of the pipercross and you will have your magical 500bhp,great job Luke,once again though,how good are those ebc brakes?
Any measurement that Eventuri will give extra hp and not loose power on B58 ?
@@vollcare4076 take a look at kies motorsport,who carried out back to back test with the standard airbox followed by the Eventuri,but you also need to understand that the biggest volume of air will only be obtained once the vehicle is at a reasonable speed,and the eventuri will definitely out do an open filter...

Re suspension, I’m surprised you’ve only changed the springs when most people complain about the stock dampers. I’ve got the [great] B12 Pro-Kit, but I could see you with a £££ option like B16/KW V3.

Because sponsors won't pay or give a heavy discount for that kind of thing 🤣
His #1 mod was LSD, so he obviously cares about handling and performance.
@@haslettworm1644 the stock dampers are so poor. If he obviously cares about handling (like you say), he should, at least, also look into the following mods; a proper suspension upgrade, M3/M4 LCA/TS and Powerflex rear subframe/diff inserts. Maybe this content will feature on a future video?!

If you've got an OPF car and you remove the OPF surely it would fail MOT when it comes time for it?
no, because not all cars have OPF. Its the catalytic converters you can fail an MOT on if you remove them.
@@ReeceJCurtis with diesels if you tamper or remove the DPF you fail that's a fact. Just assume same story for the newer petrols which are now fitted with OPF
I've got about a year left to decide before the funds are together but I just cannot make my mind up whether the M2 is worth getting over a 240i in relation to the engine.. I know N55 isn't bad but the B58 is more reliable.. so many pros and cons haha
when you do double res delete, don’t you get drone with 1500-3000 rpm range?
I have this and no you don’t get bad drone
Is it ok legally to remove the opf filter , I was told I have to leave it on 😫
In a way, no. Removing it will make it fail and mot test making the car not legal to be used on the road. Unless you know a friendly/dodgey mot tester

Sorry but the Motech idea is simply looks. I went stance on the back of everyones recommendation. absolute garbage. Bilstein B14 kit fitted and its a weapon.
