I had a blue m140i 3 door, I now have a black m240i. I really prefer the shape of the 2. I think it’s the whole hatch back thing. 2 series is a much more mature looking car. Middle Aged men in hatchbacks is the stereotype that put me off the 1’ner. Great vid.
@@lucasvonheiz1310 yea it is. No sane human with working eyes can say the m140i is better looking than the 2. I suppose you love 50 stone women from that reply. Your vile mate
Surprised how much better the car looks with that stance. Awesome! Always preferred 2 series over the 1 series so good to see some content dedicated to it 👍
I must say Luke's M140i looks insane. Hard choice between the two for sure, we filmed a 450bhp M240i and it completely took us by surprise how quick it was.
It is interesting to see the journey that all of us petrolhead go on. At your age (+or-) I had a Caterham that was increasingly tuned (Vauxhall red top). Now the last thing that I do is to make more power. Suspension/chassis is where I would focus. The power becomes normalised very quickly and honestly I didn't really need to go north of about 300 bhp per tonne, but of course I did. Now on a 240i etc it would be lots of money on chassis. I think that there are some BMW swaps that yiu can do (elements of front axle M2)The chassis improvements really do give more smiles per pound and Caterhams engineer was right, (Jez Coates?). I think that the 2 has a slightly better chassis set up standard but would definitely, especially in the UK be straight to KW, Intrax Ohlins etc with my own wallet. But I am 50! So enjoy your journey and fascinated to see if you go along the same path as us grey haired guys who learnt to drive without electronics and in my case learnt about chassis balance in a £700 Vauxhall Chevette bought because James Hunt was and probably still is the ultimate "boys own" F1 driver. Have fun.
Cheers from the US! Wish we could say the same for the 1 being more popular than the 2 but alas the 1 is gone XD I love seeing the 2's on the road as my 4 series feels peppier when side by side with one. Love how modable these cars are, can't wait to see what all you do with the car
Really weird timing mate. The wife (being a 1 series M sport owner) literally just said this morning, "why didn't he buy a M140i" 🤣🤣🤣. Bet it won't be as fun to track day as the Zed was though.
It's simple really. The M140i is obviously for the young family man who needs room, first for the dog and then later, for the kid(s). The M240i is for the guy (with means) who has a grocery getter also in the garage or for the mature man who wants a toy for driving enjoyment.
Personally I don't think the m240i has aged too well, I originally bought my m140i so my dog could go in the boot. He sits in the front anyway but I'm pleased with my decision. They are pretty much the same vehicle at the end and of the day, so it's down to each person's preference. Both are much better value than a M2, someone would have to be a good behind the wheel of a M2 to notice the difference
Can i ask, does the m140i snap crackle and pop just from the full exhaust system and down pipe? Or is it from the extra stage 2 work? Ta. Very close to modding my m135i
It's a totally different car, different chassis, different engine, different exhaust, different weight distribution the m140i is a perfect 50/ 50 set up. The the 135 is build on front wheel drive intended chassis. Quite a bit different
Personally, I like more the m140, I am 1 series fan and owner. But i have wet dreams about the M2. The 240i is really cool too. Still, such a great car you chose.
The guys’ a complete wanker. Think he said he was 64 or something on another video. How sad that he’s taking his time to attempt to put other people down that he doesn’t even know!
Mental illness is unfortunate,we should pitty the fool really.Take no notice, don't waste your time answering back next time,it's not worth your time Joel.👍👍👍
Still aint no alfa so dont understand it at all :p. Nah joking mate, if i did not fall in love with the alfa community i would have ended with a BMW to probably. They make some amazing cars these days, and in the past of course. If i had to pick i would had gone for the 140, but that is due to the practicality in combination with having a kid ;) They tune these engines so easily and the numbers grow quickly when they do.
I agree tbh, my only major gripe is the lack of temperature gauge so it’s hard to judge when to drive it hard ahahahaha. Still love my M240i, oh and it’s a manual in estoril blue too 😉😉, to your point about the M2, the M240i has 40nm more torque so imo it outweights the offset of 30bhp
Add the P3 Gauge cluster in the vent, it will measure all the appropriate temperatures, plus give you digital speed, and measure your 0-60 times. Very easy to install.
Just found this channel today and I cant stop watching, keep it up!

I also have the M240i, and it came down to the looks being a more mature looking vehicle. It also has a stylish look rather than a hatchback!
Because it looks tonnes better and much sportier! I’d have done the same thing 😉
Let’s get you in it soon!

I stupidly tried to chase a 140i in the zed and I was shocked just how quick they are, They're very bloody fast.
Stupendously so
The beginning looks like mad mile to Overton, nice long stretch of road
Hey Joel..
Curious.. what's the current mileage on your E85?
Still running flawlessly?
It’s on almost 160,000 miles, still running very well
Wow that's awesome, dude!
Looking forward to more videos on it!

Opening scene of the 140 accelerating towards a SLOW road markings ! I'm amazed these two have still got their licences.
Are the number and letters of the badges the same size for both cars ?
Lol literally 30 seconds of that video was about the title.
Where you just said, I like the shape of a coupe better 😂😂😂
don't remember asking mate
Both great cars buddy 👍🏻💪🏻

Ok its not a E87 130i, but for a 2nd series 1-serie it does look ok.

The 140 sounds awful with that exhaust, they sound like sewing machine standard and so much better!
I like the M140, though the exhaust does not suit the car at all.
The M140i hatch is beautiful... I wish they had them in USA. However, a M240i will suffice :D
