- Rowing technique at its best!
The mens eight (M8+) of the U23 world rowing championships 2021 was one of the most exciting ones I have seen this year. And the technique plays a massive role - again.

8:15 can't put a saddle on a mustang
You can't draw the line using the outside shoulder of one guy and compare it to the inside shoulder of the other guy( 4 & 5 in US). If you drew your line through 5-seat's outside shoulder you'll find his angle is closer to 4-seat's.
I thought so as well. Good point. However, after rewatching everything a couple times, I felt confident not to be misled by inside/outside shoulder issues.
Always good to see a breakdown of the styles used around the world. At the end of the day, a boat that is more or less rowing the same stroke will always be faster than a boat of people who are arriving at varying angles to the catch and through the finish!
terrific presentation, Aram, which merges side-by-side field analysis and implications of force curve variations.
Thank you so much for your feedback Phil!
Very interesting analysis Aram. What I take from this is that coherence and technique both have a part to play in building momentum. Ideally we would be perfect at both but you live in the real world and I find your analysis very practical and applicable to my own rowing. Thank you
Interesting video; can you do a video analysis of the junior m4- at junior worlds?
At 12:14 your analysis doesn’t make any sense. They’re rowing opposite sides in an eight so of course if you draw a line from their right shoulder to their hips the line will be different. They’re rotating around different pins so they’re not comparable
Do the U23 M4+!
its very cool as a high school level rower to see someone go in depth about rowing like this. I dont row anymore and i wasnt very good, but its still cool
Not sure some of the comparisons of body position are taking into account the different views of outside shoulder positions from Bow side to the Stroke side.
Can you please analyse scotch college rowing? 2019 and 2017
Hi Ben, why do you suggest that? Which race in particular?
@@AramTraining this is a bit of an old comment, but maybe this is what he might be referring to in 2019? (Princess Elizabeth cup at Henley: Scotch College vs Eton College)
