I'm no coach just a college grunt but this is teaching video for the Ages! No vertical movement above waterline is first thing. Then it's like they never left the dock start to finish.
In running races, you tend to see people doing short sprints right before the race to be very warmed up for the race, is it better for the rowers to stay perfectly calm before the race starts? Their heart rate wouldn't be as elevated and ready to go as it could be to perform optimally...
They warm up directly before sitting on the start line, it's usually about 3-5 minutes of sitting still which isn't enough to really detract from the warmup
Well yes, you need very favourable conditions to set world records. That's why they're world records to begin with - you need a lot of effort and a bit of luck to beat them.
Can't tell if you're being sarcastic. You mean the cox? They are absolutely vital for the rowers to maintain their effort and speed - look it up if you wish. It's stressful too - if you look at their heart rates, it's barely lower than the rowers'.
*Witnessing the worlds fastest ever eights race* - "Ah yep the Polish will be disappointed with this"
Glad to see World Rowing posting these.
Wow Germans so fast but so smooth and not rushed at the catch
The m8+ is the powerhouse of the sport 💪
That looks like Cam Buchan at 8:27. I didn't know he'd rowed for GB before embarking on singles sculling.
Yep, it's him, he's listed in the crew at the beginning.
Yeah, he was in the 8+ for Leander and for GB.
Soooo smooooth ...
Really was, they kept their speed up, great to watch 🍺
I’d like to rewatch Men’s 2- A-final 2017 world rowing championships in Sarasota
You can currently rewatch this on our website, but we will make sure to add it to the list for RUclips as well! :)

Germany set the world's fastest time also thanks to the tail wind, if you want proof look at the flags blowing at the finish line
And? They were about as fast as it gets. Tailwind or not.
Right may as well make the good lane argument etc

the quality is terrible
Angles impeccable. Only 5 minutes plus to make video happen
