I like to upgrade my ps3 phat, so i do the steps in your first video, but that 2 things that you do around your ps3, need i that to? Or can i make an backup and the data don't be lost??

I have a question I ha e the same HDD but its 320 g wd Scorpio blue. My question is I've folloewed all the steps an still end up with no possible data found on usb flash drive please feel me in with more info cause I've asked a lot of people on Here an still ended up with same results
if your SATA 3.0 is backwards compatible i read that it should be fine to use *such as the Scorpio Blue he used in this video. There is a Scorpio Black model, which is 3.0 but not backwards compatible. Just make sure you double check the specs for whatever model you get b4 buying :D

Let's say I don't have a usb drive or anything to backup my system. I had an idea couldn't I just take out my 120gb hard drive and enclose it to make it an external hard drive then put the new hard drive, and now that I did that. I can upload my stuff from my old hard drive to my ps3 with the new hard drive in it?

Can I change HDD, format the new HDD using PS3 and go back to the original HDD? Or the console remember the "last" inserted HDD and format every other HDD that is inserted?
I have two HDD drives: original 250GB drive in ps3 and a new one HDD 1TB (9,5mm) in USB case. Can I insert the new disc just to format it by ps3, then instert the old one and store backup to the new one. Than insert the new one in the PS and restore backup data from internal to the same internal disc?

Uhh, those USB ports on that extender aren't powered, are they? Won't they run out of juice when you plug in 3 PS3 controllers at a time?

i bought one form neegg its a Hitachi 5400rpm 500gb sata 3.0gb/s i bought it cause it said it would work on my ps3 slim havent upgraded yet cause i have a wd ex drive & it wont work for backup but i have been readin in forums that it will with a power hub so im just waiting on that to arrive but now i hear from you that my 500gb hitachi sata 3.0gb/s wont work :(

No, if you just take out your hard drive it will not erase any of your data off of the hard drive you just took out of your ps3

Samsung spinpoint works great. It has to be a 2.5 inch sata drive, 9.5mm height at 5400 rpm. Sata II. Any higher sata or rpm will be worthless. Search Amazon.

sure as long as you are willing to reinstall game data (actual games, dlcs, updates) via disc or download. it is viable but a pain in the arse, I just had to format and redownload. took some time, but worth it in the right circumstances.
yeah np only thing you have to do after restore is get an update its easy & free from sony website so dont panic like i did lol :D

I have done everything you said you cannot do on old phat and new slim systems and they all work fine today without any problems! These methods are trash LOL!! Been modding for years and never had any issues with any mod from nes to ps3.You should learn something before showing methods you can easily read on sony's site using 3rd party junk that is not recommended or even works right at all.Too funny,sorry but this was just too easy.
