    *MY NEWS CHANNEL / beastfeed
    Here are the details regarding the Playstation 3 hard drive upgrade. My original PS3 had a 20GB drive!
    - PS3 HDs must be formatted FAT32
    - Your backup drive must also be formatted FAT32
    - You must use a 2.5" laptop size hard drive
    - There is currently one 1TB drive that works, it's made by WD here is the model number -WD10JPVT
    The reason for doing an upgrade like this is to avoid having to delete game saves, game data, PSN store games etc. The PS3 also makes a great entertainment center, when paired with a large hard drive it can house most (if not all) of ones media.

    Upgrading the PS3 hard drive to a 1TB is only good in 2017 if you have the original 60GB model. The 60GB PS3 is getting very rare and It will defiantly be worth more money with a 1TB SSD. Still the best console sony has ever made in my opinion

    so you won't have any problems [ 2.5 inch , 5400 RPM , SATA II ]

I’ll keep but I bought a super slim on the side till i fix it, bc i like playing older games here and there that’s why i kept , I take care of my things so idk what could have went wrong. I’ve had many systems and i have classics as well and I have new systems as well but I always want to pop in an old disc and this came up, mines no yellow light because mine does show everything like i said.

    Its only a cooling issue if you install a harddrive that runs over 5400 rpm because faster harddrives tend to overload your power supply causing it to meltdown. So stick with a drive thats 5400 rpm only and you should have no problem. I've been through this B4 and suffered a ps3 tradgedy once. :)

  • @xBl00dBrothersX
    @xBl00dBrothersX 12 лет назад

    the point is: the console will get too hot; over time your console will fail (you'll get YLOD). And you'll need to disassemble your console completely to fix the damage done by the heat (a crack in the processor) and then you'll have to re-paste (the current paste will be completely dry hence the extreme heat). Well, you'll see in time, though it'll be too late.

  • @BeeYoSa
    @BeeYoSa 12 лет назад

    no, not at all. as long as you instal a hdd with the right specs it should have no effect on your systems performance. make sure your hdd is a 2.5'' 5400rpm internal hdd and you should be fine. also one thing not mentioned in this video that is important is make sure if your'e backing up your dat onto an external hdd the external hdd is formatted to FAT32 format as this is the only partition that the PS3 recognizes. Otherwise you will not be able to restore your data.

    You never said wether or not this was a SATA I or SATA II Hard Drive and the link in the description was to a SATA II Hard Drive which I heard the Old PS3's weren't compatible with? And will this work with the 80 GB Fat PS3 Model?

    I have both consoles and I think xbox and ps3 are pretty awsome

    Actually I think its probably more like EXT3 or EXT4 the File Structure is built up like Linux with /etc and /dev Folders. So you couldn't read it on a Windows PC. And its certainly not FAT32. FAT32 is for use with EXT HDDs or USB Sticks.

    I dont think so, when you insert your new HDD and then switch on your playstation, it will automatically ask you if you want to format it.

    i think as long as you back up everything, it will save the info even if you login , not sure,, i never tried it.

    Is the 1tb upgrade worth it? Or is 500gb enough?

    I love sony just bc of this small feature. you dont have to pay 150 bucks for 250GB like xbox. you can get any HDD from anywhere and just push it in. I bought 500GB for my ps3 for around 80 bucks.

    My black ps3 slim is still in use, only has 120 gb of storage which is pretty much used up already.
    Time to pop the hood and fix her up. Give her a 1TB hard drive as well.
    Put some new lubrication on that cpu.

    yes i do have a ps3(original model) and 2 1tb external hdd and 500g inside of it i've been transfer games and save to my ExHDD for a while now with not the slightest problem. an no duh your usb 3.0 is backing things up faster the USB 3.0 run 10-15 times faster then the USB 2.0. 10-15 TIMES not to mention a USB 2.0 take turns reading each file as with USB3.0 read and writes as it simultaneous between to devices. if the back up speed of ur ps3 ticks you of so much sell it and get a PC

    How do you format your external HDD to be read by your PS3? I could not get it to work when I upgraded to 1TB Seagate Firecuda HDD from 500GB on my PS3 Superslim. I able to back-up my saved data files to a USB thumb drive but not my game data forcing me to reinstall my game data and redownload update patches for my games.

    So, when you upgrade your hard drive to a PS3 slim, does the hard drive you’re going to upgrade need to be formatted first before you use it or is it just a simple install like take out the old drive, put in the new drive and you’re good to go?
