- Is Thailand affordable? We share our cost of living with you after spending a month in Thailand. After staying in Bangkok for five days we went to Phuket for 25 more. Our lodging was in a hotel at both locations and in Phuket, we stayed right on Kamala Beach. We spent less than $1500 per person here in Thailand. Watch this video for how we breakdown our costs.
We are a retired couple living on a fixed income as we slow travel the world. We understand everyone has different styles of travel and our costs won't be the same as yours, but this should at least give you an idea of what your costs can be.

Yes $1,500 is all good. I'm from Hawaii and get $1,377/mo. in Social Security. I live on the beach in Rayong .Apt $290 with A/C ...food $300.. I get around on motorbike. My quality of life is the best I have ever found. I have enough left over to travel to Phuket where you all were. I lived in Patong, Phuket for 5 years..Nice smiles..kop khun kop

Did that for 20 years.
I'm legally blind on SSDI now and contemplating on heading over there since the cost of living is so high here in Florida.
