Z Automotive, what happens if the doors are off for the car jacker situation since the door has to be closed to initiate it?
@@256adventures4 At the moment, in this current firmware, the car jacker mode wouldn't be triggered without the doors on. The engineer is looking into different avenues to have it trigger even while the doors are off the Jeep. As this is a programmable device, updates will be made available for the firmware
Not really a feature that will actually stop someone from taking it. As soon as they sit in the seat they will immediately know a tazer is in it because after they relay the fob signal the dash tells them immediately that the tazer is there. If they don’t relay the signal they will go straight to the gateway and pull the plug to make a new fob essentially disconnecting the tazer and the gps at the same time. This is in no way a security feature or anti theft of any kind. Will it fool a few people that don’t know what they are doing (someone that took the fob and try to take it) sure, will it stop an actual thief with the hardware to relay or make a new fob, not a bit. It will however cost those that are depending on this “security” feature several hundred dollars when the thief hooks to the gateway to make a fob because the current fobs get deleted and IF they recover the vehicle, they will have to pay $300 plus per fob to get programmed to the vehicle….🤔

I used to live in Chicago but I also have a 2019 wrangler which I loooove. And some of those Chi streets are rough but still no match for my Jeep
I use the Mad Max theft device. A black box, toggle switch, red indicator light, and a block of C-4 explosive! 😉👍🏻

Hey loved this video and second part. It helped out with configuring my Tazer. I had a question about how you got the lights to flash like you did? I tried lighshow but it would not stay set once I restarted, is there a trick?
Fabulous idea! What a great anti theft device! I already purchased a Tazer Mini when I installed 35" tires on my JT to be able to reprogram in the different tire size, so I can download this feature onto the Mini?
I believe Z Auto gives you the option to upgrade yours to a Mini by downloading an update.
Z automotive has a security box that you can install on your tazer little more secure than just zip ties.

Always glad to help! Someone on the 392 groups was just talking about getting 300 miles per tank on their 392 and I was like how you do this magic??? 😂
This is not going to stop 95% of thieves from taking your vehicle. This is easily defeated by removing one plug or snipping 2 can bus wires at the gateway which is what they already do automatically. Ravelco is a good system but you loose some factory features like remote start and you need to carry a shorting plug to start it. You loose it your screwed, you take it in for service or work, you need to give them the plug. Your best bet is an IGLA and a gps with battery backup like the drone x1 and x1 pro. All factory features work and a personal pincode system is used and won’t start without it.
when unplugging the tazer it stops the countdown. What if the countdown finished and then it was unplugged? If someone tried to take the jeep and couldn't get to the tazer till after the countdown would unplugging defeat the anti theft?

I can see how that would be AWSOME. But if your like me and keep your key in your pocket, any time you get out to get something you forgot, or you remote start it or on the trail getting out for spotting or anything I could see that being really annoying. Thanks for the info though!

@@Pantovinator i secured it and hid it fairly well in a lock box. By the time they get in it the cows will be home. I’m sure it can be done, but there will be much easier targets

Have this in my hellcat and scat pack. I was also worried about them unplugging except. In the hellcat and scat battery’s are in the trunk I’m not sure about jeep. You can reroute a second obd port off your battery and it’s under pad covering spare tire. So the Tazer suppose to lock trunk as well so they can’t get to it.
@@nicholaspoole8688 I added a tazer air cylinder to latch the Jeep hood and the secondary obd port. Plus a steering wheel cable that they will have to take time to cut 😂. Like I say, I’m sure they can get it but they will have to work a little harder
What if they know what it is and remove it
This is awesome, and I'm totally going to do it, but answer me this... What happens if I forget my PIN? Also, what would happen if you hit the OFF button before you got dragged out of the Jeep?
There is a procedure for resetting the pin if you forget it, they have it in the manual.
If you shut off the vehicle when getting car jacked, they would need the pin after starting it to drive away.

You would have to pay for the update to make your mini a Tazer Lite.
What if your doors are off ?

I’m assuming you will still have to enter the code when you start it, but I have not tried it yet.

That’s the factory steel bumper.
@@shockerracing was that smaller bumper an option, mine is full length
@@autohog the factory bumper allows you to remove the ends to make it a “stubby” bumper.

What if the car jackets realize that you have a tazer installed and unplug it what will happen will the Jeep still have those functions?

As with all things programmable I imagine a really good thief with a laptop would be able to somehow over ride this?
I stop at a red light and the auto start ingage turn off my jeep when it turned green I drove and vihicle braked at the middle of the intersection it ask me for the pin again I had a lot of traffic stop almost got rear ended.

Does it work with the taxer mini?
Yes, Tazer Mini works. The Tazer Lite would need to be upgraded.
Cool video and a cool feature. You should see if there's a setting on the Tazer JL to delete the words "go ahead and..." from your future videos as they are 100% unnecessary.

You will have to enter the code again when you get back in. Or just turn the code off while wheeling.
you can either re-enter the code, or just disable the code for the trip, but never know how many car thieves are lurking around the trails
But what if the hijacker just takes the device out of the socket? Or after entering the pin code, the device can (or should) be obtained? You didn’t say anything about this ... Then he will just sit down and go ...

I Use Ravelco......after 46 years and 6 million installs, they have never, ever had a legitime claim filed with a vehicle stolen.
Why are you doing this in a closed garage?
Garage was opened about 2-3ft and the Jeep was only running for short periods at a time.
What if I remote start it?
I believe you will just enter the pin once you get in and start the vehicle.
Does the light show go off if you remote start and don’t enter the code within 20 seconds? Neighbors would love that in the wee hours…lol

Nope, just unplug it and plug in to your computer to update. Then plug it back in.
Because its a live setting and requires tazer to be plugged in to obd2, thief just unplug tazer first before they steal your 392. :) plus on 2018+ jeep vehicles don't you need an obd2 security bypass in order to use tazer?
On the jl and ram its built into the unit but yes, unplug it and your vehicle is gone
So what happens if you're sitting in your jeep, with the garage door closed for too long? They get the house AND the jeep?!! 🤣 oh...a couple well.placed 9mm rds will also stop a carjacking, won't even have to leave your seat

Will the feature persist if the Tazer gets pulled off the OBDll port? Otherwhise it'll slow them down at best, sry...
I have yet to confirm that, but for those people that have the Tazer JL Mini it does not use the OBD Port like mine does in this video.
Being that it's a live setting, it would no longer work. although certain models can have it hidden fairly well, and we are coming out with different solutions to better and more securely keep the tazer plugged into the vehicle
