To be honest, I don’t really know which game I prefer. While I love the new campaign, new CO’s, and fixed balancing from black hole rising; the first game has less obtrusive tutorials and looks a bit more colorful then the sequel. Then we have duel strike with the most content in the series, but can be very broken and unfair.
My first advance war was duel strike onnDS coz I saw my friend play it. then I went brought the 2 gba games. Way harder than duel strike and I remember going I to story in the first game and was like no tutorial but at least I kinda knew what to do.
Hey, you just got a new sub from this and skies of arcadia review. AW2 sure was great game back in the day on gba. Nowadays have it on my samsung tablet on emulator. Imo AW had decent potential to be great solocampaing and nice 1v1 battles between humans, would be great if Nintendo would release new one on switch with online pvp. AW2 and AWs biggest problems : -Missions are hard usually because your handicapped on resources compared to enemy and your only change on winning are pretty much cheesing with certain tactics or abuse dumb AI (this was worse in Aw1 and got more fair on AW DS) -COs are just totally out of balance. Something like Olaf, Sonja or Adder cant do jack shit vs human controlled Lash/Hawke/Colin. -AW2 pvp matches have to be limited turns, cause if your opponent picks something like Sami/Sensei/Colin they can just prolong match to like +4 hours on medium maps, even Lash is cancer on forest/city/mountain heavy maps and on top of that co power charges faster when you lose units than when you kill, enjoy your 3 turn interval prime tactics mechs spam on forest/bases (Just wtf were they thinking?!). -Sturm/Kanbei/Hachi.. Yea lets not talk about those.
I would argue that the advance campain in AW 1 is much harder than the hard campain in AW2, maps are more annoying in AW1 and units on fog of war (especially when you face eagle, camp until they can hit you), making it very tedious to S rank some maps, Hard Campain have some few hard maps like the lab maps and such but for the most part its much more easy imo to S rank AW2 maps than AW1 maps.
I love this game but I have a lot more memories of the first game because pretty much everyone I knew who owned a GBA owned te original game (It was actually the first GBA game I owned and I often played swap the GBA multiplayer on my best friend's copy before that.) And while I don't think the series needs a romance system if that is the one thing preventing a new game then why don't they add one? If memory serves in at least the first game the protagonist was actually an unseen advisor to the COs rather then being a CO themselves. So bring that back but include gender selection and maybe basic appearance creation. Then allow spending time with Allied Army COs between missions and have that time lead to possible romances.
AW2's levels are more longer than AW1 than they are harder. Though of course the difficulty is actually more legitimate: ruclips.net/video/XoP1L8evwDc/видео.html
Really loved the soundtrack throughout the whole video. Was laughing at the Last Stage theme, perfectly fit.
I did put that tune to one side and was like "...where does this fit....Oh I know!" XD
@@GrizzlyGuernseyGamer still waiting for that Duel Strike review btw. I really would want to see that.
finally, a great review about this awesome game. Also, i thought that i was the only thinking that this game ir really hard.
Surprised they didn't even try to bring back a advance wars mobile game for the phone side of things atleast
I second your opinion, this game is phenominal.
Great review I'd love to see your Dual Strike Review

It'd be Intriguing to see your thoughts on dual strike
Awesome vid !
You're too kind =D
Might have to play the first one again before I play the second, forget how hard these games are lol

Most of these can be fixed by setting pvp rules.
And even sonja is overpowering in fow.
I wanna see you review days of ruin. I think it's a pretty good game on it's own right
Are you going to cover dual strike?
Sexy Toaster I will one day, I promise 😉

Don't hurt yourself with that air gun now.

AW2 was wayyy too difficult compared to 1
It's just so sad to see that the game is dead
did you run out of ammo? I'll bring my APC to you
Uhhhhh yeah. About that
Boy do I have news for you..
Why would you put an emulator filter over the game? It looks horrendous and nothing like what the game actually looks like
