Wow, RIP Jeff. This album, and "Blue Wind" ,was the basis for the sound track of my life throughout high school in the 1970s. He was amazing, and will be missed.
Jeff Beck is the reason I play finger style guitar. Even his pick heavy 60's tunes with Rod Stewart and the Yardbirds are pure music gold. There is no such thing as a bad era of Jeff Beck. Will continue to follow his career and beyond.
You’ll always remember you first favorite song 😢 RIP Jeff Beck. He was my dad’s hero and so from birth Jeff Beck was constantly played around me. THIS song in particular I remember being my first ever “favorite song”. Some of my first conscious memories I can remember are running around dancing to this song. Thank you Jeff. For those saying you were just a “guitarist’s guitarist” they are wrong; you’ve left an impact on so many more.

Hi Gregory! I was just surfing like lots of people do in RUclips land. I came across this video and checked it out. I guess I expected too much! I want to hear some good guitar playing. No screeching or twenty minute solos just some good guitar. Well so much for that!
Saw them on this tour at the Berkeley Amphitheater. Simon Phillips was one of my brother’s idols at the time. I had seem Mr. Beck at a Day on the Green in ‘75 as well. What great memories.
Look around in every profession and you'll only find an exceedingly small number that, when you look at every aspect of what they do, you realize that they were born to do it which, in some ways, means that they are a gift to the world. For the art of modern guitar music one of those few is Jeff Beck and the argument can be easily be made that he is at the pinnacle of this profession.
When I was 15, I moved to a small town in Oklahoma to live with my Dad. I quickly found the cool FM station around - KMOD-FM Tulsa. "Commode" lol There was a commercial, that was playing Blue Wind, but I didn't know what song it was.. and it always cut off... One day to my suprise, the song kept going, and the finally said who it was!. That was a great day for this kid! ;) I had heard Jeff Beck's music on a couple previous records but I had no idea...Later I bought the Cassette. What a great song with Jan Hammer. They worked together so well. Hope you know what I mean. lol! Dennis 62 years EastEnd, Tx...
The greatest rock guitarist in the world. I love lots of great players, but Jeff Beck is in a class by himself. Had Beck died in 1970 and Hendrix lived, Beck would have gotten the same martyrdom Jimi got. Love and respect to Hendrix, but Beck is the only person in Jimi's class. Jimmy Page wouldn't even allow himself to be photographed with Beck back in the old days, saying he wasn't even worthy to appear in the same picture as him. Mindblowing!
Omg. Thanks so much for posting this gem!! I still remember the first time I heard this song in the King Biscuit Flower Hour back in the 70s. I was a Beck fan ever since. You brought back some great memories. Thanks again!
Wow, this is incredible. What a sound. It rocks you from your feet. Guitar in his hands is a weapon. Great bandmembers too. I wish to see him again in concert.
After hearing and digging Beck since the mid 60s, I finalt saw him for the 1st time in 2006. Wow.... talk about a true MASTER. I've seen every great guitarist, especially from the old school, you can name. No one has a mastery of the instrument like Beck does. Simply awesome. Unequalled.
I can't even... I don't... What? How can you even possibly..? Congratulations, you are the very first person to ever leave me speechless on the internet. Seriously, you need to reread your comment and then listen to Beck and Satriani again. Both virtuosos, and both with different styles. But Beck has 30x more soul than Satriani ever will.
The tour Sir Jeff did with The Jan Hammer Group was his best ever. Trading leads with Jan Hammer brought out the best in him. I think it was the closest he's ever been to being "just another guy in the band," and it would have to be one hell of a band for that to be true!
@@pleximanic u are absolutely correct, I meant McLaughlin mahavishnu with Billy Cobham , brain fart, sorry, I loved his work with beck, he wrote blue wind?
I agree with you! And for those of you who don't quite get your point--Jan who has a great career...has an encyclopedic mastery of his instrument, composition, arranging and music in general. And if he wants to can play rings around Beck... but even HE has much respect and appreciation for Beck's natural guitar abilities and contribution to modern music! Great comment gearheads!

I saw this played live in Milwaukee in the 70's. I think he appeared with a band called Steve Hillage, whom I don't remember much of anything about. Jan Hammer was cool too.

His being so different from everyone else, creating weird little effects, is what makes him so appealing. But you have to be in the mood to listen to his music. One thing that blew me away when I saw Jeff in concert last year was his sound was so sweet, so warm. Very passionate musician.
