I haveborn again since November 2010. The feeling I had when I gave my life to Jesus.. Floating on air, no worries, no cares, no troubles... Absolutely remarkable. My commitment to change needs improvement, and I am working on that.
    Blesing to all.

We are doing a high school book study in the youth group I am in. And we are reading the Not A Fan Teen Edition. It is really good so far!
We all really need to learn the difference between fans and followers of Jesus. Because fandom won't get us to heaven. Only following Him will.

We all start out as "fans" of Jesus. That's why sound discipleship is so important. Fans don't become followers until we are in the rich, nourishing growth medium of God's Word - digging our roots down deep....and never looking back.

Thank you for this exhortation! Great stuff! The coming days will also show the wheat from the tares. We must be purged as God's people. I have been reading about the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, it is amazing how history repeats itself. The hour is here when men will not endure sound doctrine, but rather gather to themselves teachers that will tell them pleasant things. It so sad and yet very exciting to be a servant of The Most High King in this dark hour! May we be found faithful!

I have read your book four times and am teaching a S.S. class and we are in chapter 8. I had an idea to make a coin with John 3:16 [BELIEVE] on one side and Luke 9:23 on the other [FOLLOW] on the other side. Would I be violating any copy right or other ownership issue if I made the coin. I might consider selling them and putting the funds into a local church ministry. It's a powerful book thanks for allowing God to use you to write it. Henry M. Phillips, Retired SFC, United States Army, Chaplain Assistant. Got saved in Vietnam, baptized in the South China Sea! Thanks again, Henry.

No one knows for sure another persons heart. Appearances can be tricky. This book is more about examining your own heart and deciding where you stand with Jesus. I've only read about half way through the book so far. I really like the part where he says the thing about how sometimes we want Jesus as long as it does not interfere with other parts of our lives. Christ wants to be the dresser that holds the drawers in our lives not just one of the drawers.

Its about knowing Jesus as part of our family, we´re not fans of our mothers, fathers, brothers or children, we love them so much that we are willing to give our lives to keep theirs safety. This is to be a follower.

I'm sure this guy is well meaning, but his message is all about self. What did Jesus do if it's all up to our denial of self and how committed we are? Sounds more like Buddhism than Christianity to me. Paul understood the quote in Luke 9:23 as meaning that Jesus' cross was our cross as stated in Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ..." We are not dying, but have died (Romans 6:8) (2 Corinthians 5:14). This is just a DIY message of self-help that completely relies on the performance of the flesh. You will always question whether you are "Committed" enough to please Jesus.

Every time I go to church, one or two women think I am God's gift. How do I avoid having sex in the parking lot and the pews with random Christians? It even happens at AMEs where I have sex with black women and closeted homosexuals have announced that I've inspired them to come out of the closet. I've now been born again seven times. Jesus is surely getting irritated with me after being nailed to the cross seven times. His hands and feet must be nothing but holes. Bless my heart. Please pray for me.

This book and its message is simply another Pastor doing his best to push believers to do the impossible. It promotes feelings of guilt for not doing enough and uncertainty as to whether they have done "enough." Just a new twist on an old question. At the end of days it will be God's judgement and mercy that decides, and nothing else. Whilst the aim if the book is admirable, it can easily lead one to feel depressed along the way as having failed in their pursuit to follow. It also opens a flood of tendencies to judge others' "progress" in following.Do I recommend people read this book? Most definitely I do...if only to form their own opinion. But I have to ask hhis question...Why is it that as a Christian, do you not have ability to be a follower after reading the most infallible book ever written i.e. The Bible, yet have to rely on "Not A Fan" to become one? Is this not saying that Idleman has more power than God himself? Sorry, can't agree with that.

I havent read the book but I dont get that feeling, I do believe hes asking people to form a deeper relationship with christ, completely surrender, pick up your cross, stop being Luke warm

because people do not read their bible, thus they have no clue what is necessary to be a real Christian, they might read his book though and then learn the truth that way. Plus the bible is often left to personal interpretation and that is also where people get lost. Nothing wrong with as brother writing a book to explain things clearly.

John 3:16 says, ". . . whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but has everlasting life." What does that have to do with being a fan or follower. It just says believe, that is, just like believing Washington crossed the Delaware, we believe that Jesus gives us everlasting life. There is no difference in the faith. We believe in Jesus FOR everlasting life. That object, and what we believe in Jesus FOR, is the difference. Salvation is not about what we give, but what He gives as a free gift.

I'm not a fan of his. He and I knew each other once and I knew his family. What turned me off was he was a fan of Christ but he wanted more and more. Bigger crowd money etc. Remember when his daughter had a dresser fall on her. In the end the life we find will be in death and only God will be the judge. I'm no better then him.it is what it is.
