I like this, these videos are meant to get you thinking. Look for the Not a Fan daily journal and start digging. Start praying, start asking God to mold you into who HE wants you to be. It's not easy, but Jesus never ever claimed being a Follower was easy. Put aside yourself and let God lead your life. If you are uncomfortable with something Kyle is saying pray about it maybe it is God using Kyle's words to convict you.

What's really interesting here is that the first video in the series has like 42K views, part 2 has about 600, and the next installments less than that. A lot of people came into the series telling themselves, "I'm a follower, not a fan", and then quit... Which ironically is what the series is about, making a claim in Christ for appearance or out of convenience and then not taking it seriously and walking away. By the end of the series less than 1% of the viewers stuck around...

I think it's because Kyle Idleman's follower/fan dichotomy is something he made up. Most Christians want to hear the whole council of God, not silly, contrived paradigms that can't be found in Scripture. Kyle doesn't call people to repentance for any particular sins, he just calls them to a ladder climbing faux Christianity. The standard set for being a follower, not a fan? Feel as committed as Kyle is. How will you know you are doing and feeling enough? Kyle will judge.

It's funny, cause I'm a guy and the "DTR" talk is something I very much so enjoy and talk about quite early on. I want them to know what I am looking for, why I enjoy their company, why I am sticking around and where I hope to end up and whether they feel similarly and or what they want. Without this interaction, you're practically just throwing your emotions in a direction and have no idea what things really mean. Anyone can like someone, but if you don't discuss and communicate towards the future, what is it, but a nice feel good time that may fall apart at any moment?

There are vegetarians who are lacto ova. Dairy and eggs. Flexitarians are folks who will be polite and eat animal products if served but tend to avoid preparing animal products themselves. Vegans eat no animal products at all. Our Tuesday night Bible study is doing your six part series. Its good.

Jay Hillz82 What is "lordship salvation"? Hopefully this isn't taken the wrong way, just looking for clarification. :) If it means that one needs Jesus to get to God, then this is the correct teaching. Since the only ancient texts we have on the subject is the Bible, than that is the standard we would have to adhere to. So, in the Bible, it states that Christ is the only way to God the Father. John 14:6 says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (Just to clarify, for those who don't know, the word "Christian" literally means "Christ Follower".) If someone doesn't believe in what the Bible says that Jesus said, that person is not a Christ Follower.

To REALLY be a follower of Jesus you must FIRST be a repentant believer....THEN open your Bible and allow the Holy Spirit to teach you !!! Man's words are mostly full of hot air!!!

How sad to see that he is using man-made pop psychology for his twisted teachings. The "minister" 's definition of follower of Jesus is all Law-driven and there is no Gospel (fully committed, are you sincere enough, fully re-commited ... mouse-trap of moralistic Evangelicalism). I missed hearing the words "Jesus for the forgiveness of sins" and repentance (instead I got "complete renovation", "overhaul" etc.).

"Pick up a cross and follow Jesus"? What exactly does that mean? What does it entail? You talk a lot but say very little. Give some concrete examples, Kyle. You're very good at spouting rhetoric; always quick to tell everyone how inadequate they are as Christians... but you never offer any positive suggestions or anything specific. Unless you can make a buck by selling crap on your website.

socksumi It's all about going back to the texts in the Bible. Who cares about what this guy says if it's not backed up in the Bible, eh? Luckily for this guy and for all of us who watched, all the rhetoric he speaks of is in the Bible. This goes right into John 14:6-- "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."' Don't believe what other people say about God unless you can back it up with the source. ;) And if you want more of what Jesus was saying in context, read the whole chapter (or book) of John. This should put that teeny-tiny phrase into the bigger picture.
