  • I stumbled upon this fix when my fridge started to act up and after a long time it did it again so I figured I would make a video about how I have been dealing with it. I am not an expert but this has help me save a lot of food over the years.

Wow. Fantastic. We have been without the fridge for two years. One pan of hot water.
    How easy was that
Appreciate that it may not be a long term fix bug we now have cold beer.

I think you’re getting ice crystals blocking it up due to moisture in the system rather than “gunk”.
When you put the heat into the fridge the ice melts and away you go.
Our fridge is doing this but on a daily basis. If we leave it off until the temp inside reaches 12 degrees Celsius when we turn it back on it fires up.

sound like its short of ref if the cap tube is plugged it is almost impossible to unplug once a ref unit is short of gas it will super cool ref in to the evap section causing instant ice build up it may be enough for your needs but the unit is running and running wasting power the efficiency of most motors is in the 60 % range the rest is heat that is given up to the surrounding areas. its amazing that the compressor has not seized yet just a testament to closed systems it works for you so that be it.

Guess I’m the only one who doesn’t understand the principle. Did heat force the Freon backwards?

That is the idea. Seems to work.

@@SailingIntoOblivion How the heck you ever thought of that in the first place. Good job and obviously you are an advanced McGyver.

Nice fix. Just what is needed until you reach a port with reasonably priced parts and service.
