i find that clutch shaft assembly wear out. the ball bearing inside it will wears out the shaft.
I have never had that issue, but it does make sense. Good call
Doing a new install. no matter how you pull on the clutch lever even with a 2 foot bar it will not loosen the clutch. Can they freeze up? dhorner@usa.net
@@TA-xj5we my clutch is stck it wont disengage
@@TA-xj5we im gonna just get a yd100 an put this aside for a lil it got me over 3k miles for 100 bucks she did her job for now its a triple 40 pk80 thnx for your reply
@@TA-xj5we happy new year by the way
Just adjusted my clutch incorrectly. This clarified things. Great job.
Hey sorry I'm late, I just saw you video, Is it still slipping?
@@LAHover yes, slips. I’m sure I overtightened the flower nut just to get some grip. New erasers, and tightened the inside(shaft?) spring , 1’ plus by rolling the bike backwards. I scuffed up the clutch plate a bit to increase grip, I put in a slightly longer clutch push pin that touches the ball bearing to compensate for the flower tightening. I noticed a lot of play on the clutch large sprocket. Could this cause my slipping? I’m stumped. I can get the bike going but it takes a bit of low speed peddling.
@@markwatson1970 Side to side play in the large bevel gear is a sing that the tiny friction plate bearing may be failing / falling out, but as far as I know it wont cause slipping. Once you get the bike started does the clutch still slip much during acceleration?
@@LAHover it accelerates fine and behaves once I get her going. It’s the initial grip to turn over the engine that seems to be lacking.
@@markwatson1970 I'm starting to think your motor may have great compression. Try these pads instead www.amazon.com/dp/B095HLBWFN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_PX8M165D4VKPG5QHRV5R
I have seen people make their own by cutting car brake pads as well... I'll be trying it in a near future video as well.
Thank you for all of your content! I had never worked on any 2stroke anything, or owned a motorized bike. I slapped an engine kit onto a mountain bike that I've had for years, and it flies! It's thanks to you help and in depth explanations that I'm getting more comfortable with adjusting clutch, etc. Just had to say thanks again and keep up the wonderful content :)
This video is superb! I ended up throwing out an engine, due being unable to figure out why the clutch wasn't disengaging. If only I had watched this sooner... This is the ultimate guide to clutch problems, and prevention. Thanks so much!!
Very well thought out, This video should help with identifying what was not only wrong with the clutch but even better stop issues by setting it up correctly. Thanks
Thanks for being so thorough on the clutch assembly. It was always something that I shied away from. It was easier once I saw one taken completely apart. I appreciate your explanations too.
I can't believe that he let his coffee get cold.....lol
I know right James, but much like me I get distracted by work or talking. If it was good coffee he wouldn't have let it get cold.
Nice video. Been having clutch problems and after watching your video I understand what I was doig wrong. Nice information Thank you.
Thank you so much man. For a long time, it took me a while to start my bike up. I thought it was because the motor had to "warm up" or I wasn't giving enough choke or what not. Little did I know, my clutch had been slipping since the beginning. I needed to adjust my inner collar nut. Now, as soon as I let out the clutch, she springs up to life!
If you still have slipping issues check the video description, there is an advanced repair video link.
Your troubleshooting and repair videos are the sht! So happy you take the time to explain what to do and why. Your videos are gold my friend!
That's a Really great video.Thank you.I use a magnet to pull the Bucking Bar and Ball Bearing together.1st time I wanted to re-grease I figured that out quick.LoL.When I installed my 2nd motor I removed the assembly that holds the cable end over the clutch shaft and squeezed in about 2 tablespoons of Gear Oil for that area.
Thank you for explaining things as you go, I'm new on these motorized bike, I bought one off a friend at work, he sold it cheap because he had it all apart in 2 boxes, I've never put anything like this together I almost told him I'd pay him more just to come get it, but I began to watch your video and a couple more others and in my amazement I put all together, so thanks again, if I had to take it somewhere to have it work on couldn't do it, your very understanding my friend.
Great video!!! I’m new to motorized bikes and had to adjust my clutch, this video helped me so much!
Very informative video answered all my questions with all the issues that I'm having with my bike. All the issues that I was having with my clutch he answered them and they were very easy to understand. The most informative video I've seen yet
Very good video! It takes a while to figure out all this things, you never find them in user manual. Thanks for sharing!
I never do comments this is my first one ever... but this deserves it .great video wish more people did them like this... again thank you for going over everything and specific reasons why
Perfect video man. Gonna have to share this in the FB groups!!🤙
Thanks man. U the only one who clearly teaches whats up cheers from Canada
thx for ur tips I just built my 1st motor bike and had a issue with the engine not engaging. after watching this I learned my clutch lever was not adjusted properly. once I redid the arm it turned over perfectly thx!
Thank you for taking time to make this informative video. Great job.
A needed video for everyone that has a motorized bike. Wish I saw this year's ago
I love this guy he is very specific and give me a lot of details
13:30 Good info on the "neutral position" of the bucking bar and where to grease. Thank you, sir.
The best clutch tutorial I’ve seen, thanks…
O.M.G! Thank you so much for knowing that ingageing the clutch is when you pull the lever in ! I've had so many arguments about this....
Great explained clutch video, excellent information, thank you
This information is invaluable!! Thank You So Much!!
Thank you for the information. Very well explained.
I appreciate your very detailed description of what each part is and how it works together with the whole system. This video has helped me greatly. Thank you
another good video excellent in to detail.
thank you for this video . and your other video. im a first time builder .they help me out a lot.
Glad I could help. And good luck Builder!
That was a great tip bud.. the only thing I haven't figured yet on my kit bike..
Thank you so much for your detailed video 🙂
Great video! I so agree about the clutch lever cam assembly being assembled too tightly. Mine has very little "wiggle room" and I don't have any puller to disassemble it. I ordered another one that's disassembled, so hopefully I can assemble it with more cam shaft/bucking bar play-John in Texas
I rebuilt the entire clutch assembly on my motorized bike about 2 weeks ago. Really wish I could have seen this first 😂
Also, can you cover the internal clutch shaft, spring, etc. I feel like it plays a big role in the clutch feeling and adjustment, but always gets overlooked. Sometimes, the issue is beyond the bucking bar, flower nut, cable tension, etc.
How long did it take you
Very good video! I had a issue just in first time I ride the bike, and I after see you video, I think was because of the cluch point tha was wrong. Thanks
Thanks a lot..You saved my clutch...
On my clutch cam for a quick fix I sanded it flat so it would engage again works well
Nothing wrong with my clutch, I just like watching these videos.
I have burned up about 10 bucking bars. I finally found that WHITE LITHIUM GREASE works very well. I want everyone to know this as I have been stranded due to a melted bucking bar on more than one occasion.
I used an Old drill bit as a bucking bar as I lost mine I just used the the same diameter drill bit as the bucking bar cut the drill bit off obviously and used the part that sets into the drill it seems to work fine and is holding up fine better then the stock one alot stronger material
I like that piston just chillin up there
I actually fixed my bike within an hour after watching this video
Great video
👏👏👏👏 well done on the video 🚲💨💨💨 and information on the clutch and the bucking bar I have had that problem before thanks 💨💨💨💨🤙👍💯
Welcome 🚲💨💨💨
my back wheel is stck moto rider the clutch wont make the small gear turn it wont disengage
@@Spacecruizer203 did you get it figured out
@@motorizedbicyclerider5296 not yet im thinking the piston might be stuck i went to the store shut the bike down came out and the clutch wont disengage its stuck
@@Spacecruizer203 it's kind of hard to say it could be any little problem you'll just have to take it apart
nice! this is good info, need to adjust my clutches too.
A couple of the replacement bucking bars I've gotten on Amazon have been too short, leaving me wondering what the heck I had done wrong. I found one that actually gave a measurement and sure enough, when compared to the previous ones I had gotten, it was a few MM longer!
Hey man I appreciate your videos. Very helpful, because you are in fact very knowledgeable about these motors, and other components regarding these makes.
I would like to go into business with someone like you!
Thanks builder!
I use heat shrinks as a cap on clutch cable it's handy, you can still get cable out without removing anything
Thank you so much, I think I found my problem because of your video. What kind of Grease do you recommend?
Also another reason your clutch might be slipping might be the small drive gear. How I fixed it was I got a bolt and put the head of the bolt against the bevel and drive gears to lock the motor up. Then I tightened up the bolt and that fixed my clutch issues
That gear should be keyed as well, but if the fix works for you that's great.
I see why a new engines is sold for $99...
Amazing the big power from 60 cc is only like 4 HP tops...
My old Suzuki 50 cc...vintage 1972....a 3 speed auto transmission and put out close to 3 hp....and lasted years....quiet smooth and fast
😮
Your video is very good. My question is. The inner bearings on each side went bad. When I remove the clutch assembly some of the ball bearings fell out. The bearing races are pressed in. My question is simply how do you take these races out so I can put new ones in. Tried heating the bearings with a propane torch. Then I tried knocking them out with a hammer and chisel. Didn't work. Any ideas?
Great video I'm in the process of building my new engine and all bearings clutch included and I have never changed bearings in the clutch I didn't know you used that tool to do that thanks.
Thanks LA
I did like the video as it is very informative.
Not sure if I'd fallow you on fastening the gas tank to the top frame bar technique.
I guess that the little bolts were broken or stripped. If so, I'd have replaced the tank.
I've seen souder on the end of the clutch cable works good
Thanks!
New at this as I want to build a 4 stroke. Do I need a Jackshaft with a clutch assembly if on comes with the motor? Some motors come with a clutch assembly from Bikeberry for $299.
Hey man, I recently got a motorised bike that’s brand new and I tightened the wire for the clutch arm good and the clutch arm didn’t move. But when I pulled in the clutch the clutch arm got loose. Is there any easy fix to this?
Ayy hover what material is the black clutch pads made of am quite paranoid that they may be made of asbestos so everytime i touch or get near em i use a mask and glove if you may pls tell me just for clarity of mind 😅
Thanks for the great video! What kind of grease do you recommend for this purpose?
I like Lucas Red N Tacky.
What kind of setup do you have for your bicycle engine exhaust clutch and electrical
Hello, how about if my chain broke and I replaced the chain and took off the lid of the clutch and now I have to adjust the arm of the cable clutch, how can I know when it's properly engaged, so I can started?
where does the bearing go? i thought my bar and clutch were shot... there seems to be a lot of metal shavings inside. Recommendation on what grease to use
Cut grooves into the pressure plate really helps getting the clutch to grip
I'll have to try that, I have an old set of pads, I'll see if it brings them back to life.
How do you set up the clutch play in set screw on a new build
How do you get the clutch arm on the the clutch shaft the grooves it's like the hole is too small
I have a 125cc toatoa go kart that grinds in reverse but works well in the forward gears. Would replacing the clutch likely repair this issue? I haven't been able to find anyone who wants to repair so I will probably have to do it.
My clutch is extremely stiff and hard to pull. I’ve changed the cable routing and removed the return spring but it’s still the same. Anything I can do? Maybe the clutch spring?
Question: why does my clutch 'grab-slip-grab' to the point where the engine won't start because I can't get a full revolution of the crank to fire it off? I'm thinking the Clutch plate is either warped, or it's possible I could have over-greased the Bevel Gear, and some grease may have contaminated a few Clutch Pads? The Engine is a MaxInd YD100 with zero hours...
My clutch arm has to be turned in WAY past neutral before it gets close to touching the bucking bar. Do any of these engines use two bucking bars? One smaller than the other? It may be a false memory but I thought when I first got this (PK 80) that there was a big bucking bar, a bearing and a smaller bucking bar but if it did, I lost the smaller one. My bike has less than 10 miles on it and the bucking bar is already very rounded over.
Where do I buy the clutch for my 29 gx7 Genesis and the big gear too
Your videos have fallen off of my RUclips radar for some reason. I'll have to go back and watch the three I've missed.
thanks brother
2:07 I run a spring over the cable between the clutch lever and the cable tube. The excess cable I then tuck into the spring so it doesn’t stick out and poke me or fray.
When I pull in my clutch the whole bevel gear and shaft moves in the case?
What type of noise can clutch assembly make and how do you correct them ?
How do you fix a stiff clutch sprocket for the motor chain
For some reason I always thought the clay red ones were the best ones. I hate the chirp they make though. I'll try the re-used rubber tire ones again.
I need to adjust my clutch after every ride, do you know why this might be?
It's really hard to pettle start my motor it takes my entire body wait to start any way to fix ?
What happened if I don't use Round Column Bolt for the small bevel gear you think my clutch start slipping
My bucking bar sticks far too out and the ball is stuck inside where the bar goes any help please.
How can I take barren out of the clutch.. if it's pushed in n not coming out
Does anyone know if it is possible to fit the drive sprocket onto the clutch so that I could run a chain to my bicycles original gear setup? That way I won't need to use a jackshaft thanks
Was hoping you would go into more depth on flower nut adjustment
I have a new build, and it keeps destroying bucking bar bearings. I grease the ball bearing every time, but within 5 miles, the ball bearing becomes a half-sphere. This has been driving me insane for a week, since I got the bike. I have gone through 4 bearings already, and I grease the hell out of them every time. Any idea what can cause this?
thank u
what about upgrades to these clutches?
I just bought the 100cc 2 stroke motor. The clutch will not engage. The crank won't turn. It's not locked up.i need help with it.
my kit didnt come with a bucking ball, cluch cam engage the bar or ball?
Can u show me how to take off the clutch thing with the tool the one they gave me don't work
Well when your riding how do you know when your clutch shaft has been shot completely? When I ride mine it just started where I hear a heart dropping grinding when I pull in the clutch and it didn't wanna go over 12mph I even had to help it go up hills
Good news, easy fix. Bad news, it sounds like your clutch basket bearing failed/migrated. I can't say for sure tho.
should i grease the inner clutch bearings.... .... ....
Hey does anyone know why ny engine putters when I 1st start it.i cut muffler ran straight pipe and cut the side of air case off .I tried to mess with carb but the only way it stops is if the idle is high .I dnt like to hear it like that but if thats what needs to be so be it
That piston with the eyes 👀 it’s the thumbnail from the velocity video ;)
Ok, I went through 3 camshafts that had completely worn out. I welded one back and that always stayed in one piece, but now I have a new issue. First of all I have no tension in my clutch lever, the bike doesn’t fire until low speeds. When it does for it slips on the plate because the ram stays the same until it heats up and than it grabs but have only ran it twice like that. Now I have figure out what’s wrong but not how to fix it, the pin that the flower nut attaches to is not moving in and out with the pull of the lever. Any idea what’s wrong?
Check out the video linked in the description. It covers more advance issues. Good chance yours is in it. Good luck!
I gotta 80cc anbul kit... I got it to start once...every time after the clutch just slipped...I adjusted the flower nut and the spring under the clutch cable routing point and it still slips...my pressure plate looks like the engagement is lop sided...Its the pads are all black from the slipping...can you help me
1: Make sure the set screw that keeps the flower nut from spinning is not to long (pushing on the basket).
2: Make sure the woodruff key is not missing or striped where the shaft meets the basket.
3: You may have a more advanced issue, this video may help. Good luck ruclips.net/video/p92RqNhxuSE/видео.html
