Folks ... do NOT install a horizontal "band board/trim" even if caulked it will eventually leak and catch debris, this will rot out your sheathing. Use "Z" flashing instead. Paint the bottom end/edge of the sheathing. Do not caulk it, that way it can drain. Gravity never fails, caulk will. Z flashing not caulk. I understand the horizontal trim can look nice, but it's no fun letting your sheathing rot.
Just curious how you deal with moisture ingress from the grass and rain onto those 2x6's? I'd worry that being directly on the ground, it'd attract all kinds of creepy crawlies once the wood is waterlogged (e.g. carpenter ants, termites, etc.) Or is that expected and there's only a short service life?
I love how most of all video for under pinning the land is flat and pretty never the normal like angled or higher then your head off the ground. lol so with those types, how to put a frame under it how to cut at angles from the ground and bottom of the trailer and all that. I mean their is no videos on RUclips that shows all that or at lest explain it good enough to follow them while you DIY.
Great 👍 question ⁉️ but I guess nobody has answered you huh. I'm planning on doing the skirting myself but I have so many questions and here on RUclips nobody has answered me yet
I did something similar. I used 6 inch galvanized spikes into the 2x4 into the ground then the spikes through a 4x4 into the 2x4 all ground tested. Caulked the steam around the top, 2 coats of primer and 2coats of exterior paint.
wood on ground will get soft or change shape groundless if pressure treated. need four inches of air gap or use a product that is hard but will not change its form.
I’m not seeing what you’re doing at the top there. Can you explain how you are attaching the top of the skirting to the bottom of the siding? Unfortunately there is not any information on doing this type of job.
The big box stores, Home Depot Lowes Menards. That’s called T one eleven siding. I did something similar but used 7/16 osb primed and exterior painted it.
yes, I am sure that is what he uses. We have a vapor barrier under our mobile homes and extend it ourward so the pressure treated wood lays on top of this instead of the ground itself. Extra protection.
I just purchase a trailer home & the manager told me she was going to fix my skirting but she havent fix nothing its been 2 months and she keep putting excuses, what can i do ? ? ?
Can't breathe and will hole moisture. Plus wood needs be pressure treated, I perfer metal rails over wood. Because of bugs. You need ever 3' feet studs on center to meet state code. You need have lower vents ever 4' to help flow of air.
And it has the added advantage of making it look like you belong in the worst trailer park ever! So while roofing metal as Skirting might ward off rot and termites, it does draw in meth heads
Brick is the best underpinning, albeit more expensive. You will never have to touch it again and rodents cannot get through to chew up your undercarriage.
Even if the bottom plate were pressure trt'd wood, a building inspector would insist on some sort of concrete stem wall or pad. This is exactly the wrong way to do it. That bottom plate will disolve in a couple years. This guy is your best installer?
@rgawt1870 hahaha really the guy was waiting to see something he could pretent to know some shit about if it wasn't this he would of found something else....
I see no need for vent when plastic is on ground, floor has barrier underneath, and or when building is 2ft above ground, but in cold weather I do see the need for air tight.......... But I also see the need for slowing down the video in certain places so I dont have rewind 15 times.......... I do like the idea of pinning 2x4s down, I'll do the same..........

Looks really good to use the same material as the siding. And from what I can tell, the verticle seams/pattern lines up! Great looking!
Nice job . Liked how you made the siding of the house run with the lines of the skirting.
We do not want termites or critters destroying our homes. Thanks, great job!
That's the inspiration I was looking for.
Ahhh what a lovely flat surface to be working on lmfaoooo
yea one side of my house gets as low as a foot and the other is nearly 3ft tall. pain in the fucking ass
You doing a good and great job 👏
You made that look so easy and slick

You have earned the honor of me stealing at least three ideas off this. Well done.
Doesn't skirting have to have perforated holes in the material to assist with ventilation

Can you explain the process please
Love the work
Nice job
Where we live this will rot and fall apart in no time.. didn't even use pressure treated along the bottom much less ground contact rated
The worst is the lack of venting. Not mentioning the ground contact wood.
In this video they are using hardie board siding. Termites cannot eat the cement that these boards are pressed with.
I also would of like to add some ventilation as well
That was definitely not hardie board...thats the lp smartside panel made of osb

Great job! Any chance that we could view this in real time?
Wow Great 😂 job
Do it slowly so would follow the instructions nice job!!!!
you can put it slowly on your cell phone that's how I did it
What kind of wood do you use?? What kind of siding.
thank i do the same i sick of the plastic crap blowing out all the time
Just add screws in the upper plate and the plastic skirting stays in place
looks great. in lest than five years the entire exterior will need replacing. It does look great!
why do you say this? If he were to use cement hardy backer board, would it last longer? And if so, how many years?
Some people just love to troll
How much did this cost?
Nice
Where did you get the wood from
Good job, but it would have been nice if you explain the process

I was about to ask the same question ⁉️😂 Hope they or someone else answers us
Looks like he’s tucking the skirting behind a trim piece that runs lengthwise then every 4’ he puts a 2x4 behind the skirting for a nailing edge
@@eugenewilson7555 basically that. You can also attach 2x4's under the 2x6 wood frame

i didnt see a top plate. how were the panels atatched to the top?
It’s behind the 1x6 top trim where the walls are attached to the metal frame
who can I call to do mine? I like the way these people did it. can I get their number to come do mine?
How long did it actually took you to do it?

Might of missed it but I didn't see you put in any vents? I guess you could always add them in later

@@rgawt1870 they're not needed when you have a vapor barrier over the ground like they do in this video.
@@prescottsims245 maybe not many vents, but some vents just to help with airflow, circulation?

depending on what type of skirting, I am assuming the a typical vinyl skirting on tracks, there are videos on how to fix it. It's simple.
How did you connect the top of the board to the trailer? I can see the bottom and the vertical 2x4.
I had a worker install 2x4's under the 2x6 frame board to attach the cement hardy backer board. Replaced the metal band back on.
Saludos quiero hacer lo mismo en mi casa movible me podría decir cómo se llama el material que uso para las faldas y donde lo puede conseguir grasias
Se llama smart siding y lo encuentra en home depot

looks like hardy backer board siding. It is supposed to be made with cement. If cement, termites etc cannot eat through this
