    Folks ... do NOT install a horizontal "band board/trim" even if caulked it will eventually leak and catch debris, this will rot out your sheathing. Use "Z" flashing instead. Paint the bottom end/edge of the sheathing. Do not caulk it, that way it can drain. Gravity never fails, caulk will. Z flashing not caulk. I understand the horizontal trim can look nice, but it's no fun letting your sheathing rot.

    Looks really good to use the same material as the siding. And from what I can tell, the verticle seams/pattern lines up! Great looking!

    Doesn't skirting have to have perforated holes in the material to assist with ventilation

    Just curious how you deal with moisture ingress from the grass and rain onto those 2x6's? I'd worry that being directly on the ground, it'd attract all kinds of creepy crawlies once the wood is waterlogged (e.g. carpenter ants, termites, etc.) Or is that expected and there's only a short service life?

    Where we live this will rot and fall apart in no time.. didn't even use pressure treated along the bottom much less ground contact rated

    The worst is the lack of venting. Not mentioning the ground contact wood.

      In this video they are using hardie board siding. Termites cannot eat the cement that these boards are pressed with.

      Just add screws in the upper plate and the plastic skirting stays in place

    I love how most of all video for under pinning the land is flat and pretty never the normal like angled or higher then your head off the ground. lol so with those types, how to put a frame under it how to cut at angles from the ground and bottom of the trailer and all that. I mean their is no videos on RUclips that shows all that or at lest explain it good enough to follow them while you DIY.

    What kind of stakes did you use to ground the 2x4 you used for a rot board

      I did something similar. I used 6 inch galvanized spikes into the 2x4 into the ground then the spikes through a 4x4 into the 2x4 all ground tested. Caulked the steam around the top, 2 coats of primer and 2coats of exterior paint.

    wood on ground will get soft or change shape groundless if pressure treated.
    need four inches of air gap or use a product that is hard but will not change its form.

    I’m not seeing what you’re doing at the top there. Can you explain how you are attaching the top of the skirting to the bottom of the siding? Unfortunately there is not any information on doing this type of job.

      Looks like he’s tucking the skirting behind a trim piece that runs lengthwise then every 4’ he puts a 2x4 behind the skirting for a nailing edge

      The big box stores, Home Depot Lowes Menards. That’s called T one eleven siding. I did something similar but used 7/16 osb primed and exterior painted it.

      yes, I am sure that is what he uses. We have a vapor barrier under our mobile homes and extend it ourward so the pressure treated wood lays on top of this instead of the ground itself. Extra protection.

    I just purchase a trailer home & the manager told me she was going to fix my skirting but she havent fix nothing its been 2 months and she keep putting excuses, what can i do ? ? ?

      depending on what type of skirting, I am assuming the a typical vinyl skirting on tracks, there are videos on how to fix it. It's simple.

    How did you connect the top of the board to the trailer? I can see the bottom and the vertical 2x4.

      I had a worker install 2x4's under the 2x6 frame board to attach the cement hardy backer board. Replaced the metal band back on.

    Can't breathe and will hole moisture.
    Plus wood needs be pressure treated, I perfer metal rails over wood. Because of bugs.
    You need ever 3' feet studs on center to meet state code.
    You need have lower vents ever 4' to help flow of air.

      And it has the added advantage of making it look like you belong in the worst trailer park ever! So while roofing metal as Skirting might ward off rot and termites, it does draw in meth heads

    Brick is the best underpinning, albeit more expensive. You will never have to touch it again and rodents cannot get through to chew up your undercarriage.

    Even if the bottom plate were pressure trt'd wood, a building inspector would insist on some sort of concrete stem wall or pad. This is exactly the wrong way to do it. That bottom plate will disolve in a couple years. This guy is your best installer?

    I see no need for vent when plastic is on ground, floor has barrier underneath, and or when building is 2ft above ground, but in cold weather I do see the need for air tight.......... But I also see the need for slowing down the video in certain places so I dont have rewind 15 times.......... I do like the idea of pinning 2x4s down, I'll do the same..........
