I agree. It was a very important video to make. For such a light in the dark for people, like me, he sadly couldn't find the way out of his own darkness. I'm really going to miss him, and more than anything I hope society learns from this. Even a little.

Mark van der Wal since NSMBW was the game my family used to play together we actually did the racing to the end thing nearly every day. My excitement was through the roof when I heard we could do this officially now! Now my brother won’t cheat and go into his bubble
Regarding the previous video about suicide. I can say from experience that I agree with Alex. It does get better, always, and if you're having thoughts like "the world would be better off with out me," you are wrong. I've been in the hospital following a suicide attempt and if I hadn't had my best friend there to convince me to get help I wouldn't have been around to see just how great life could get. The only way it doesn't get better is if you're not there to see it. No matter how low your bottom is, you can get back up. It's years later and I'm doing much better now. In that time I've also lost two friends to suicide. It hurt both times, a lot, even if I hadn't talked to them in months or years. Your death would affect people in ways you could never imagine. I've never met any of you, but I would still be sad to hear about it. Every one of you in your life should have somebody, anybody, you can talk to about it. If you don't, there are resources online or over the phone to help. When you're at your wit's end and you just want it all to stop, do me a personal favour and reach out that one last time, a last ditch effort, and I promise it'll get better. I just discovered this channel but I just wanna say thanks for using your platform to speak up. not enough youtubers do, and there's a lot of people sitting around online at 3am that could really use the reminder that they're worth it.

Why would there be a need unless something fundamentally changes? Maybe a new console but even then there is a chance they could make games backwards compatible. MM2 has a TON of ability to release patches and DLC. Just keep beefing up what we have. If they already start looking at MM3 then it will be like the first one and all content updates will halt until a new title comes out. I would prefer the content asap.
@@ReivecS the thing is Nintendo starts developing games 3-5 years before its release. For example mario odyssey and breath of the wild were being developed before the Wii u came out. And it came out on the next generation of consoles.
@@fildemen6626 Well then you answered your question. They will announce in 3-5 years. However I don't think that is entirely true in all cases. Do you not think that SMM2 uses code from the first one? Similarly do you not think a 3rd would build off the same code base? This could reduce the time required to build a sequel but it also means that any work done requires a decision of "do we add this in now as DLC or do we hold it for a sequel?" and back to my original point, I would rather have it now.
An incredible review. I love Gamexplain, don’t get me wrong, and I admire all the videos they did about SMM2, but in terms of the review, this one is better and more accurate by a mile. Great work Alex!

Great review! I've been STOKED about this game ever since it was announced. I like your approach in this review, because a lot of the recent complaints about this game (ie: 3d World) have caused me to simply eyeroll, because it honestly just never seemed like a big deal. ESPECIALLY as somebody like me who never got to play Mario Maker 1, the little complaints in regards to building, I simply won't miss. I understand if you're coming from part 1, certain changes may taste a little bitter, but at the grand scheme of it all, the changes I've seen really don't seem as significant as the improvements. Considering Mario Maker 1 was on the WiiU, this sequel is likely to have a HUGE amount of new players who simply won't miss the relatively minor changes. And 3d world being treated differently in its arsenal of tools just really doesn't phase me, because I can simply just choose the other themes.
Alex, what you said about the story mode being acceptable as it's own game is really interesting. I never really thought of it like that but I guess you're right.

Hey I know you disabled comments on your last video, but I want to say I really appreciated it. It hit close to home and that video, I mean it sounds strange but it really did make me smile. Thank you so much for the help.
Back in February, when Nintendo announced SMM2, I was super hyped and couldn't wait until it came out. I was planning on making the hardest level ever when it came out, so I decided to watch hardest levels in Mario videos for inspiration. It was through that that caused me to find Sokobansolver's Mario Must Die hacks. I decided to try to figure out how he made them (no way you can do that in SMM), and that exposed me to SMW ROM hacking. ROM hacking was a blast, and it got me even more hyped for SMM2, and I pre-ordered it the night before it came out. When I finally got to play it, I have to say, I was very disappointed, because it was very lacking content-wise. I am still disappointed with SMM2 to this day because we have only received one content update that added Link and two other enemies, as well as the snowball. We still don't have the ability to make custom blocks, custom backgrounds, or the ability to import custom music (smwcentral.net has a wide plethora of SMW custom music for ROM hacks). The only things that SMM2 beats Lunar Magic (the tool most people use to make SMW hacks) are different game styles and no sprite slowdown, which honestly isn't a problem for most ROM hackers. The only thing that makes SMM2 better than Lunar Magic IMO is the Super Mario World theme. Maybe if SMM2 only cost $10-$20 I'd be fine but I payed $60 for a game that I can easily replicate with a free tool. I'm not going to haggle Nintendo for a refund, but I'm very disappointed with SMM2, especially since I payed $60 for it, and Nintendo even actively deletes levels that exploit gameplay bugs and even bans their creators, while the ROM hacking community actively embraces bugs. I'm seriously regretting my decision to buy SMM2. For that, I'd personally rate SMM2 6/10, especially since Geometry Dash, Mega Man Maker, and Lunar Magic have considerably more options for the price range of free to $2.00 (depending if you have mobile or Steam for GD). Please don't hate my comment SMM2 fanboys!
Hey Alex, I hope you are doing well after the Etika situation. I takes a lot to upload a video like the one you did, and I’m happy to see you happy again in this video. Stay strong everyone ❤️
That was a great review for Super Mario Maker 2 on Nintendo Switch Lite and by the way, 20th Century-Fox Fanfare is my favorite Super Mario Maker 2 music level. Thanks to Helsionium.
5:22 ...create colossal climbing courses capable of causing creators to cry out in cromulent contentedness, preventing the player from peering past the playable parameters with pillars of perennial peat moss! No.
You kinda have to in a game where using specific tools are half of the experience. I'd rather have an honest review than one that seeks out to please Nintendo anyway
@@TyandOnGoing not sure if you watched the gamExplain review but in it he goes over the positives and how it is a step up from the first game and is lacking in these areas. He talks about it both for creators and players. In this video everytime he brings up a negative, he pretty much takes it back in the next sentence or two. I'm guessing the Nintendo life channel is biased towards Nintendo titles but eh what do I know?
I've updated some levels, and added a few new ones! The new ones go first: Name: Hop along Christmas Town Level ID: 2FF-2JQ-0LG Description: Make your way along the Christmas rooftops. Just don't touch them! Name: Which scoundrel took my keys?!? Level ID: JVG-FNN-37G Description: If I get my hands on him... Pick your poison and find out who it is!! Name: Mayhem in Pirate Bay! (updated!) Level ID: QCY-14K-VQF Description: Pirates stole the harbour masters treasure! Grab your ship and stop them! Name: Mystery of the Pyramid (updated!) Level ID: SXH-GN2-3GG Description: Can Mario find the treasure of the pyramid before the Goomba raiders?
What a great review, much better than the one from GameComplain, lol. This has me even more pumped for the game! My only concern is hoping they find a way or algorithm to separate the SP levels from the MP ones, to ensure the best experience for those levels. Bring on Friday!
In my opinion, for multiplayer levels. There should be an option if you want your level to be in multiplayer games. But before uploading it you have to solve it with one or more extra people
"you can create colossal climbing courses capable of causing creators to cry out in cromulent contentedness, preventing the player from peering past the playable parameters with pillars of perennial-peatmoss"
Very good review, but I have something to say: I played the game for the first time yesterday at midnight lmao and I tried the making tools and actually created a decent level and uploaded it. And, even though I played SMM 1 and loved the gamepad, I wasn't bothered a lot by the controller controls. I think they did a pretty good job of working around the hardware limitations of the switch (compared to the wii u) to actually offer a very enjoyable experience on TV with a controller. I'm pretty sure touch controls are more intuitive and easy to use, but the controller ones are definitely not bad, at least in my opinion.
Alex, please bring back the Super Mario Maker Superstar Showcase! I loved those videos and they gave me so many great ideas and it was fun to watch you play them.
OMG I can't wait to get this tmr ! I never had the Wii U and I played Maker 1 on the new 3ds XL but it's not even close to the real thing. I hope and wish to be able to create some good tracks for players all over the world. Watching this video makes me 10 times more excited for it tmr .
Friend: Should I buy SMM2? Me: Do you own the Switch? Friend: Yes Me: Do you like Mario? Friend: Yes Me: Well, that answers your question!!! By the way, I'm finally getting the game and corresponding Switch System today!
As someone who got quite into making ROM hacks for SMW, and being slightly disappointed with how limited SMM1 was in some areas, I can't wait for this. I won't be getting my copy until a few days after release because no release date delivery on my pre-order, but as soon as I get it I will be spending so much time with it.
I remember really loving the first Mario Maker game both on my Wii U and my 3ds. So this Friday morning I am planning on going to my local Target. Hopefully as soon as the store opens. To get 3 things Mario Maker 2, an USB cable charger for my switch, and get a grey pair of joy cons. Since the ones I have now have not been working right for me. Plus the right joy con crack when I accidentally drop it. And that is the one that is giving me the most problems. So I definitely need a new pair.

End completely took me off guard. Listening while at work and just started laughing my ass off.
Hey Alex, I hope you are doing well after the Etika situation. I takes a lot to upload a video like the one you did, and I’m happy to see you happy again in this video. Stay strong everyone ❤️
Etika committed suicide, about a week ago. He was confirmed dead this morning.
I’m taking notes, that was some fantastic editing!
That was a great review for Super Mario Maker 2 on Nintendo Switch Lite and by the way, 20th Century-Fox Fanfare is my favorite Super Mario Maker 2 music level. Thanks to Helsionium.
We need to make a tribute level for Etika...
We need to get this to the top of the thread. It needs to be pinned. Mind if I copy the comment? Just to help the cause

...create colossal climbing courses capable of causing creators to cry out in cromulent contentedness, preventing the player from peering past the playable parameters with pillars of perennial peat moss!
No.
10/10 wow... That doesn't happen often.. I was hyped, now my hype has transcended beyond hype!
He gave mario maker 10/10 so this is not surprizing
5:21 My God, man, that was the most well-written and most well-delivered line I have ever heard on a RUclips video
I wish Etika was still alive to review this game on stream.
that 3D Mario world map music..so good!
Thanks for not just Notpicking the entire time like GamExplain
You kinda have to in a game where using specific tools are half of the experience. I'd rather have an honest review than one that seeks out to please Nintendo anyway
@@LaterHarmony but it different when most of your nitpicks key word your are ignoring the highlights of the game
The new ones go first:
Name: Hop along Christmas Town
Level ID: 2FF-2JQ-0LG
Description: Make your way along the Christmas rooftops. Just don't touch them!
Name: Which scoundrel took my keys?!?
Level ID: JVG-FNN-37G
Description: If I get my hands on him... Pick your poison and find out who it is!!
Name: Mayhem in Pirate Bay! (updated!)
Level ID: QCY-14K-VQF
Description: Pirates stole the harbour masters treasure! Grab your ship and stop them!
Name: Mystery of the Pyramid (updated!)
Level ID: SXH-GN2-3GG
Description: Can Mario find the treasure of the pyramid before the Goomba raiders?
I'm ready.
Hi, i love your videos
What a great review, much better than the one from GameComplain, lol. This has me even more pumped for the game! My only concern is hoping they find a way or algorithm to separate the SP levels from the MP ones, to ensure the best experience for those levels. Bring on Friday!
GAME OF THE YEAR!!
@Dread Animations true dat
this review is better than GameXplain
Too much waffling, try waffling less next time bc all that waffling is off putting
........waffling
Better than pancaking amirite
Great review but why did you have to put a 10 second loop as the background music for 13 whole minutes? I'm left with a headache watching this!
It’s in the background so it’s not that bad.
10/10 well that's a good score
In my opinion, for multiplayer levels. There should be an option if you want your level to be in multiplayer games. But before uploading it you have to solve it with one or more extra people
Yes. It’s worth it. ’Nuff said.
No, not enough was said with your claim. Convince me.
"you can create colossal climbing courses capable of causing creators to cry out in cromulent contentedness, preventing the player from peering past the playable parameters with pillars of perennial-peatmoss"
CANT WAIT FOR DASHIE GAMES THO!!!!
I’ve always wanted to recreate NSMBDS faithfully and now that will be a lot easier
Very good review, but I have something to say:
I played the game for the first time yesterday at midnight lmao and I tried the making tools and actually created a decent level and uploaded it.
A "report as spam" option for levels that are literally random stuff everywhere. Take my money Nintendo.
Alex, please bring back the Super Mario Maker Superstar Showcase! I loved those videos and they gave me so many great ideas and it was fun to watch you play them.
GameXplain: It's ok, not as good as the original.
Nintendo life: 10/10
0:26 Song link?
Can someone post a link to the music that was in this video? Thanks.
This was a great review. However, this video was almost unwatchable due to the *very* repetitive music in the background. My ears are pained
the macho madness song at the beginning is awesome
Keemstar: “Lets get raaaawwwyyyyit into the news!”
Alex (knowing he can’t just steal taglines): “Lets dive rawyit into things.”
It feels like almost yesterday when we saw the first trailer in February
OMG I can't wait to get this tmr ! I never had the Wii U and I played Maker 1 on the new 3ds XL but it's not even close to the real thing. I hope and wish to be able to create some good tracks for players all over the world. Watching this video makes me 10 times more excited for it tmr .
I dont have the game yet, but y'all need to remember, 3D world wasn't meant to have 2D sideway levels.
Friend: Should I buy SMM2?
Me: Do you own the Switch?
Friend: Yes
Me: Do you like Mario?
Friend: Yes
Me: Well, that answers your question!!!
By the way, I'm finally getting the game and corresponding Switch System today!
Who else is wait for the Banjo and Kazooie Amiibo? (Not kidding)
Me!
Can somebody find the intro music for me? The nice feel good one at the beginning that's a remix of super Mario 3D world?
I remember really loving the first Mario Maker game both on my Wii U and my 3ds. So this Friday morning I am planning on going to my local Target. Hopefully as soon as the store opens. To get 3 things Mario Maker 2, an USB cable charger for my switch, and get a grey pair of joy cons. Since the ones I have now have not been working right for me. Plus the right joy con crack when I accidentally drop it. And that is the one that is giving me the most problems. So I definitely need a new pair.
