Im interested in the SF version (65%)
After maining 60% i realised having the direction keys are a must (also the del button lol)
I'm very content with my 2 SF. Let me know if you have any questions. Fyi, if you want to change the case of the sf you're going to have to make it yourself.
I have Anne Pro 2 (60%) and made my Caps Lock work as FN button. Caps Lock + WSAD as arrows and + X as Delete (also +Space as enter, +Z as backspace and +Tab as original Caps Lock). Honestly I find this even better than full size keyboard, everything is right under left hand and there's no need to lift right hand from the mouse.
I need a 75%
TKLs are perfect small enough but still has all the needed keys
@@erehr4623 ohh this is a nice way to do it
very glad i stayed awake just in time for this. keep up the good content man, love the unique production style you put out!
glad I stayed up tonight. just in time for another banger
I'm honestly impressed (and glad) that the keyboard community is here to stay. When everyone started going crazy about KBs a few years back I assumed it would be a trend lasting no longer than 6-9 months. It's not my thing, but it's definitely a cool off shoot of the BYOPC group.
I've waited so long for Ducky to adopt hotswap as standard, and acoustic padding on top of that? This couldn't have come out sooner.
I'm very happy to see the gaming prebuilt and enthusiast keyboard markets are bridging their gap more and more these days.
Will Kailh Silver Speed switches be hotswappable on the Ducky One 3 SF?
@@TankTnT_ yes
First review of the One3 !! Glad it's from you !
Barebone is certainly a good idea, it brings competition to that market
Agree, really like the case design and would like to use my own keycaps and switches and don't have to pay extra for stocks
Agreed. At least in the One 2 the stabilizers are great and I don't feel any need to mod them. Would love a barebone with stabilizers for when I just want to play around with new switches without having to mod the whole thing.
@@Ahmgcats i mean all you need to buy is switches and sell the cherry mx
@@skytreegirl6929 keycaps too
@@kcfish4862 the keycaps are really good, when they come out with the black version with rgb shine through
For those who want to know the price right away: it's around $120
Half decent for a full build, market is competitive with other brands
That's a really good price, much value
What other brands I’m in the market for a small keyboard and or keypad NO RAZER
@@Ali-zv1yk FNATIC Streak 65
@@Ali-zv1yk Corsair K65 60% mini. Get the smooth linear. It has doubleshot pbt keycaps as well and Corsair's new software to go with it. The only complaint I have with it is that it doesn't have as much sound dampening as I would like out of the box. I had to mod it a bit to get it how I like it. A more muted sound.

I got the ducky mecha mini...i gottta admit this keyboards were built to pass on from generation to generation. It a tank
I got the same kb, but the ducky 3 is an extreme upgrade in terms of features. The mecha mini though had the metal case which I really love
Well, i have the mecha mini too and im happy with my brown switches for gaming and normal usage i dont see any feature to get the ducky 3 i think if you dont need the hotswap just stick with the old generation
I have the mecha and it's nice but just ordered everything to build my first keyboard. Decided I want a 75% board as I have the room and extra buttons will be nice for entering data.
i've got a mecha mini and i'd only get a one 3 if they made a mecha version
I'm waiting on a potential one 3 mecha mini to upgrade to from my one 2 sf
Thanks for the review. Pre ordered mine
Being able to swap keys that start double typing is a godsend.
You could always do that if you have some skills.
@@SaudadeSunday no one has time to do boring stuff
@@skytreegirl6929 get good at life

@@SaudadeSunday what about selling your old ducky for this new one?
Great to see. I'm currently using a one 2 mini mecha and waiting for the 3rd iteration of the mecha. Nice review
Another quality video! 👍 Personally more interested in the 65% version for the arrow keys just like you, but it looks and sounds really good
Your thumbnails and camera quality is increadible
Absolutely love your videos, they’re tech videos but by someone who actually plays games and does it well
I have the mecha mini. It took me 3 hours or so to desolder lube and solder all my switches back in. Having this hot swap is amazing. Ducky is killing it. I would love one but my mech mini is the way I want it now, custom caps, lubed, bandaid modded, all the good stuff.
Nice one, might pick this up later on once I can get it in a UK layout, just to dabble with swappable switches. I find having the arrow cluster on the IJKL keys really convenient, and have slowly got used to using them that way.
The only thing I would suggest for anyone with a 60% keyboard struggling, or wants to give 60% a go, is to swap the FN key with the caps lock key, and add the modifiers (alt, ctrl, shift) to the ASD keys on the FN layer. For me this works pretty well, and a lot more comfortable as the default FN location on most 60% I don't find to be ideal. For the Caps Lock key which I rarely use, I just mapped that over to the application key (which I never use).
Anyway, I went off on a tangent there as this is barely relevant to the video, but hope it serves some use to someone.
Hello, loved the video and thanks for the insight, i already got mine for january. Do you know if all the switches come lubed or only the stabilizers?
Have just been considering a custom 60% mech as my hands/wrists have been hurting and I need to position more optimally, blessed by your review!
dont buy this shit, go on KBD fans and get one of their prebuilts. Cheaper, and better
Thank you very much for the excellent content, what is the difference between the normal and the daybreak version? just the colors ?
The SF version looks like the perfect sweetspot.
I was totally expecting Ducky to price these considerably higher than the One 2 series, but this was a pleasant surprise. I'll most likely end up getting the SF version.
Do you think the hot swappability contributes to longetivity of the keyboard?
Or rather a more appropriate question would be have you ever had a mechanical keyswitch fail on you where the keyboard would be restored to full functionality by replacing a few key switches
The only youtube channel I trust, thank you so much for all the advice and recommendations you’ve given. Looking forward to see 1440p monitor battle.
LG ftw
@@allgunsblazed9106 GP850 :) I am very happy with it.
Might want to reconsider this stance buddy, cause I bought a ghost s1 and that was a shit case 😭😭😭
you must have real problems with trust
@@itsTouEasy What was wrong with it?
The sounds tests were interesting right up until the Gateron Black Inks, and everything else just sounded LOUD
It be like that with prebuilts
prebuilts tend to sound… crunchy
I love thoccy/low pitched switches on their own, but I’ve found that they’re unusable for me when put in a lot of boards because I simply cannot hear the switch itself. An example would be the kbd67 lite or ikki68 aurora with a pc plate, as those two with their playes and silicon mute the sound way too much. The muted sound is great for silent switches, or louder/higher pitched switches as it even out their sound profile. I put Tealios and Mauves in my ikkis and snow whites and ice candies in my 67 lites.
@@saucyg6371 i love silent keyboards. what switches would you recommend for that? (budget friendly would be appreciated)
@@DDHDTV The only silent switches I have are Roselios which are $1.20 a switch, obviously not budget friendly. I’d recommend silent alpacas. They’re probably the best under $.65 a switch for silents
Hey Optimum and other keyboard fans,
Sorry if this runs slightly long, but I just had a question about the Ducky I recently purchased with cherry brown switches. I wanted to feel the difference between those and the Glorious Pandas (which are coming in today). I use this keyboard primarily for gaming, and I went back to a keyboard with cherry blue switches and loved the tactility of them. So I thought that a tactile switch would hopefully give me some of that nice feeling and feedback without annoying the hell out of my mates.
With this keyboard and I'm fairly new to tactile switches, I'm having a problem with some switches actuate in game. I first noticed it with my D key. I wasn't moving right with the key pressed. I played around with the switch and noticed it wouldn't actuate half the time if I didn't get it past the bump on the upstroke. I changed the switch out for another and haven't noticed a problem with my D since (no pun). Now I'm starting to have the same issue with my W key. I play a lot of Apex, so you could imagine how jarring it is to think you are moving forward, but you are standing still eating bullets from hungry preds who just want more kills and to rain on your short gaming session.
I was wondering is this a problem with tactile switches. Do I always need to get it past the bump on the upstroke? I don't have this problem (yet) with A or S or any of the other keys I spam like inspect while running. It just feels very odd for the key to be bottomed out and not have it actuate. Either way I'm hoping that I solve this issue with the switch swap. But if this is a some what common feature of tactiles, what would be your go to linear?
You can convert the right cluster of Shift, Right Win, Right FN, Right Ctrl all into Up, Left, Down, Right arrows respectively and then convert the Right Alt into FN.
This! I use this solution without problems on my Ducky One 2 Mini
Thank you for the recommendation :)
Appreciate the review so much!!
Looks like there will be a few ISO versions, which is a huge selling point. There just aren't that many affordable hotswap ISO boards bigger than 65 percent. If you go the custom board route you'll often run into problems when it comes to dealing with taxes and the customs office (at least here in Germany), that is if you're even able to find cheap but decent quality ISO keycaps. YDMK seems to be a cost effective option but other than that I can't think of many
I hope they make a mecha mini 3 as well, that metal case is the absolute bomb
Oooooooooooooooo, I love ur vids man especially keyboards and mice vids , noti gang on top
Already got my one 3 SF on preorder, can't wait
Nice review. Just wanted to point out that people don't have to spend a lot to get some very decent switches. Gateron switches are a big step up from Cherry MX. I recently put some lubed and filmed Gateron yellows (linier like reds but with a bit more actuation force which makes it a better experience for typing) into an RK61 and the results have been excellent. I paid just £14 for 66 of them on aliexpress, £6 for films and £5 for Krytox GPL 205g0 lube which I already had from a previous build.
the barebones kit is LEGENDARY! CANT WAIT!
i would like you to try the ducky x varmilo miya pro, it is a really amazing line up of keyboards.
My ducky one2 sf developed double pressing issues on several keys after a few months of use. After researching it came up as a common issue, which was strange because most hardware reviews don’t mention this. Any idea if this problem has been fixed?
The keyboard looks awesome but it won’t match ANYTHING in most setups :/
I’ll probably buy a grey sf keyboard eventually.
Nice review as always. I hope you can make a video on 12900k and 3090 in a custom loop using the Meshlicious or any itx cases.
I was waiting for this
I always switch my Caps Lock to an extra Fn Key on my Ducky's since I never use caps lock.
Btw the arrow JKLI keys were perfect, I put the Fn key to Caps Lock.
These looks solid, may be a One 3 TKL for me in the future. I've stuffed around with Anne Pro 2 and now a Keychron K2 but the 60/65% lifestyle just isn't for me. Actually quite a fan of these more garish colours too, if they come out with a red one similar in tone to the QUACK, I'm all in.
i was gonna get a new keyboard, but I'm gonna hold out for a new TKL
TKL < 60% with arrow keys. If this keyboard had arrow keys near the bottom right instead of perhaps a right alt button, and moving around some of the punctuation keys it'd be perfect. TKL somewhat horrible imo. Not only does it have F keys on top but all the extra wasted space on the side near all the home row keys and arrow keys. The form factor is quite literally a chopped full keyboard. If they thought about the design of TKL a little more I'd like it but it's just a chopped full keyboard with no added thought or anything of the sort.
@@harrys2331 see, the thing about keyboards, is that its all very subjective. full-size kb is too large but i personally don't think i'd like a tiny 60% keyboard with a big pc and monitor. TKL seems like a good compromise. i use all of my keys apart from numpad which just gathers dust really.
@@dioxyde0 60% and TKL have the same keys. Both are missing numbpad. 60% is just more compact. It's objectively better in that regard.
@@harrys2331 in that regard sure, but not everybody likes compact keyboards.
If they make a new mecha then I’m absolutely grabbing one. A hot swappable mecha mini would be amazing!
I was gonna get one 2 sf but this looks like a great upgrade, def getting this one
I bought the Skyloong GK64 and Im very happy with it.
that tofu sound was crazy amazing
For 60% keyboards I just set the CapsLock to the Fn key and use CapsLock(FN)+WASD as arrow keys. Much better than physical arrow keys in my opinion. But it requires the keyboard to support that function, so it needs to be programmable in some way.
I started with the Pok3r (by flipping a DIP switch) to later Anne Pro 2 and Niz Atom 66 EC keyboard (flashes the controller with a software). Maybe the Ducky One 3 Mini also has a similar function? A lot do nowadays so I wouldn't be surprised.
If you change the dip switch settings under the keyboard, u can get arrow keys to the right lower corner.
How is the quality of the plastic case? I had a One 2 Mini and the edges were so rough where the parts met that I cut my finger several times.
I have the ducky one 2 mini and I love it, saw the ducky one 3 mini is coming soon and I was like man I gotta have that. Now just need to convince my self I need it and order it.
What's the difference between cherry MX RED and Silent Red? I can't find any sound comparisons on RUclips?
Would you recomment this or the anne pro 2 if you had to choose one?
damn the black ink lubed's sound is on another level
You can actually use the macro feature to replace the bottom right keys with the arrow keys, thats one of the reasons arrow keys are included in the box.
How? The ctrl fn can be an arrow?
@@skytreegirl6929 Yes, you can replace any key with a keyboard macro so if you hit control it will be the right arrrow key and then replace the key cap with the arrow key. Check the macro instructions in the keyboard manual.
Have been waiting for this bad boy to come to market😘
Is there any affordable mechanical alternatives with dedicated media keys? Or are TKL then the only option?
the arrow keys and Del key
is a must if you're doing any sort of editing and design work
yeah I personally find that the 60% is perfect for gaming. I liking having more room on the right for my mouse. I have a keypad that has my arrow keys page and delete on the left. I don't really use the function key that much except to hit the F keys. If I was playing an MMO that used a lot of F keys I would just use a keyboard remapping software to make the number row the f row and the numbers can go somewhere else like my pad to the left or my foot switches. Oh yeah, did I mention that foot switches are amazing? lol
bruh i love your videos they are the best
the arrow keys just kill it for me too for day to day use. Are you going to look at the Fnatic Streak65 LP, I am assuming you have been sent one?
Hey Optimum Tech, would you be able to test if the PCB of the Ducky One 3 Mini fits into the Ducky Mecha Mini? I would SOOO strongly appreciate you checking. It would mean the world to me. Love the vid
Any chance you could test the steelseries prime? Specifically the click latency since i've heard some people say the latency is fairly high which sounds unlikely on an optical switch
The One 2 mini could fit in to a Tofu case. Is that the same with the One 3 mini?
Serious question, can you do a review on the performance of the Razer huntsman v2? The one with the optical keyboard with the 8k hz polling rate.
Would like to suggest getting a deskpad, it would help decrease the vibration from the table to the mic
what brand of stabilizers are those ? and is it aftermarket available ?
Is there a full sized version of this keyboard with this color?
Have you tried varmilo's boards? I think they sound much better than the ducky one 2 mini and one 3 mini from the comparison.
So I have always gotten razer keyboards as a young gamers. Then I moved on to corsair. I have the K65 and the Mk.2 but there was something to be desired for sure. Now I was torn between the GMMK PRO that would take more work and this Ducky one 3 SF. I ended up with the ducky and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed with the quality compared to what I had. I am excited to swap the switches as well and check that out. I could see myself possibly starting a small collection of keyboards that I enjoy. as for a daily driver I am very happy with this keyboard. if the TKL was available locally I may have went that route. but SF is really sleek and compact. the only reason I would get a TKL is just for Prt scrn... the tilde key and the longer right shift key very minor things that I am sure I won't miss very much.
do you recommend the ducky 3 mini or the ATL hig profile?
Glorious just screwed me over. Got the Ducky one 2 SF and they released this 1 week after. Nice job Ducky real nice.
Might get this for gaming. I have a custom keeb but it's not great for gaming as the PCB only allows you to hold down a limited number of keys at the same time which can really get in the way. This seems great with the hotswap and added features for sound dampening
Eh, what custom is that?
When you said that the ducky one 3 mini was better then glorious, I was thinking that you were talking about the standard GMMK compact/tkl/fullsize. But it also has hotswap, case foam, an aluminum and plastic case with 2 heavy internal weights?
I have been waiting for the day there is a prebuilt, all yellow mech keyboard on the market. I have been rewarded.
Put foam below the keyboard itself. Like on the desk. Probs the sound will be less noticable. Cos the board could be just a bit uneven and could cause one corner of it to just constantly hit the ground + compensation of sound even more is good, cos vibrations move through everything.
Does the 60% PCB still fit into the Tofu 50% Case?
I have the same problem with huntsman mini, I really missed my arrow keys but razer can switch profiles immediately, so an alternative profile has switch keys and with that I can work with a 60% keyboard without any problem.
Are the stabs upgradeable with other screw in stabs like Durock's or others?
I'm intrigued, definitely a step up from the one 2 it's just not too much of a step up that it makes the price worth an arm and a leg.
Yay, another video
how do you like browns? heard no mention in the vid...😀
Goto have a numpad. How else do you quickly input number codes to sites and log ins?
I could understand a 60% back in the 90s when LANing was a thing. It's been dead for 15 years though so who doesn't have enough desk space at home for a full sized keyboard?
That color way is clean. I wish I hadn't just bought the Ducky One 2 Mini pure white last year otherwise I would have copped this. 😍
What do you recommend for a Linear gaming switch?
Is there a 75% layout version of this? Thanks
Hey man, could you do an input lag test for newer keyboards please? I would highly appreciate it
What keyboard is on your desk? the grey ish one.
I'm looking to purchase this keyboard, do you recommend cherry MX red instead of MX clears for gaming (mainly apex)? I've been using ducky one 2 mini with silent red switches for about 2 years now and they feel really mushy
My only problem is that they don't supply extra PCB. I messaged them because I broke mine and weren't willing to sell me one. Now I'm stuck with a broken Duck One 2 mini.
As a keyboard with hotswap, how do we work with people that messed up in the hobby.
You testing the streak65 LP ?
It would be a cool idea for a barebones keyboard but not with north-facing rgb. Most of switches have a problem with cherry profile keycaps when it is a north-facing rgb
I would love a barebones board, at this point hotswap boards that come with switches just add to my switch stash since I'm basically always replacing the stock ones
Can you do a review of the Iqunix zx-1? Preferably the air cooled edition!!
Hi. Are you considering checking out the computer-1 mini-ITX case from Teenage Engineering?
Can this ducky one 3 hotswappable? i wanna change it in gateron black ink v2s
I have three friends with multiple of these keyboards and repeatedly they get an issue with "double clicking" and end up replacing it with a new one. Sadly this happens very frequently and one of my friends was on the fourth keyboard now and ended up swapping to the wooting60he for more reliability.
"Best 60% Gaming Keyboard" 2022 maybe?
The double clicking is a well known issue by now and should be mentioned.
When does this keyboard come out?
is the Ducky one 3 60& compatibe with the Tofu Case 60%?
are cherry mx clears supposed to be silent compared to browns?
