Thank you so much for putting out these videos! When I originally want into my planning for moving into my van, I had my mind set on getting a Jackery 1000 and 300. It's only after watching and learning from you that I realized these Bluetti's were better bang for the buck and I just ordered an EB150 and this AC50S. For anyone who sees this in time, as of 2/9, the EB150 is $999 on Amazon with a $200 coupon they have and the AC50S has $60 coupon for a total of $369.
I have three BLUETTI powerbanks. This rascal is PERFECT. I leave in my Sprinter VAN. .HONESTLY IT IS ALL I NEED. great light. Enough outlets. Easy to recharge. Small. Perfect.
Got my AC50s and have used it on two outings. Used 2 Renogy 100 watt pannels in series to charge. kept my cpap going and phone charged. perfect. thanks for the great info.
I pre-ordered this a few months back while it was still in production and used your coupon code and got it for a whopping $350.00. It arrived a week ago and I'm thrilled with it. It's everything that you say and the quality seems really good. I have also have the Bluetti 1500 and can power my small camper with it.
This video was awesome, and I'm glad I've discovered your channel because you talk about the important stuff and don't ramble on about nonesense or make bad jokes, you provide quality content. I'm researching a power station because I use a CPAP and I live in Texas so we had a scare and I hate being not prepared.
I just bought this because of you thorough reviews ! I thank you! I will use this to operate a heating system when my electric is down I have a solar panel also. Im a 70 yr old senior and I live alone . I like quiet .
Got my last month after watching your earlier review, new to solor generators, but it works great for me running a 53 qt alpicool ref/freezer for my deer hunting, hell lot better than packing ice chest. Your a good man Charlie brown
@@BiigRed good day So after 6 plus months of using it I can say, hell yes, Have used it to power my iceco 45 cooler on several hunting days and road trips to save my truck battery when parked for the night. The easiest of quick recharging by solar or outlet is also a nice combination. So I'm happy I took the chance on it and looking at it's bigger brother as my next purchase. Hopes that answers your questions. Have a good one, laters
I’m trying to do the same setup that your doing with the dometic as well...... how’s it holding up till this day and how long does the battery last with the dometic fridge
Nice work here. I've been researching this size/scale "So Gen" unit for about four (4) months. Thanks to your testing efforts, I just pulled the trigger and your code worked like a charm. All in (with taxes, ugh), $406.59. Keep up the great work.
I nearly bought this but went with the Jackery E240 so I could still buy a compatible waterproof solar panel with a USB fast charge port at the same time. No regrets my end. Waited 3 years through research and finally coming to a decision, but I have to say this was going to be a very close winner as was the best one for buck I saw. In 🇬🇧 so not so many options available with UK plug.
Just ordered one for my brother and sister-in-law, they have a Go Fast Camper and this will be perfect for their weekend trips. The discount code is still working on the Bluetti site!
Hey Hobotech, i have mine for round about 16 days, i tested a lot what you have done too. The lack of the Quickcharge Port 3.0 is (for me) the only issue. But i am overall very impressed of the capability of this device! Greeting from Germany.
Just bought one, AC50s with the 50 dollars off and free s/h direct from their site!!! Thank you professor. Do let us know if they come out with another campaign. I had to pay tax bc I think they have an office in Denver. Still a good deal!! Now I own two Bluetti products. AC200(Indiegogo) and the AC50s!
I just ordered direct (March 18 2021) using your code ; -$60. = $369.99 delivered. Thanks. I was very close to ordering the Jack 300 at $299 but with tax it was well over $300, so for a few bucks more I got this one with more capability plus this one allows me to use pretty much any solar panel. Perfect. I appreciate all you do.
I managed to get the standard model for $330 by stacking your coupon code with another offer, absolutely incredible little thing for the money. I'm glad to see on this model they seem to have improved the low voltage charging, I never see anywhere near that kind of wattage charging from my cigarette lighter port and that seems to be typical for the AC50 (non-S model). I think that the inverter's overload protection has a hard-set time limit for how long you can overload it, in your original video you got around 2.5 minutes before it shut down while running past 300 watts and I tried running my Dash egg cooker off of it (350 watts) and it shut down at the same time. I unplugged it, reset the inverter, and let it go again and it kept on going for another 2.5 minutes.
The Amazon link in the description goes to a AC50 unit, NOT the new AC50S. The AC50 does not have a regulated 12v DC power output so that's a deal breaker for me
@@gpw955 with an unregulated DC power the dc voltage will drop as the battery discharges (as it is used). Some things you use will not operate at a lower dc voltage. Regulated power will keep the DC voltage constant, regardless of the state of charge of your power station
I have 100 W one of the Espana facture that I got to use at festivals to make sure that I have plenty of power for credit card transactions and running music so forth it has been flawless this is a good solid company
I recently got one of these. Sweet little unit. I was going to get one of the smaller Jackerys. But, for just a little bit more, I got this instead. I hate to say it, but the Black Friday deal I got was better than the HoboTech discount. FWIW: The solar charge controller is great. I hooked up my HQST 100 W monocrystalline solar panel to it and got 103 watts (briefly). It settled in around 97W before the clouds moved in.
Thanks for making a review that is so detailed but still easy to understand for a layman like me. I've seen mixed reviews but you've really got me sold. I'm definitely getting one of these for my van build.
I really enjoy watching your videos! Thanks for all your good information. I'm late in the buying game for this SoGen, but just purchased a combo deal that includes the 120 watt foldable solar panel for $665. I really looked around for comparable units and there were just none. So I hope I made a good choice. I always look forward to your new videos. Be well!
Question for AC50S owners! 1) Is it normal for the Power Station to turn on automatically and have the fan when being charged (either AC or DC)? Even if there is no output load? 2) Does the AC50S charge when plugged in and with the power off? I'm trying to diagnose if there is something wrong with my power station or if it is just a faulty AC power adapter.
I have a question for Professor Tom. On a typical solar setup you have pass-through charging. We charged all the time and use it when you need it. Let's apply this to a solar generator. If you have pass-through charging and you're charging all the time how would you count charge cycles? 80% to 100% one charge cycle that may happen several times a day?
Thank you for all the videos! I bought the ac-50s about 6 months ago and love it. I was wondering if anyone has charged this at 120 watts for a long period of time in warm to hot weather. I plan on connecting 2 richsolar 100 watt panels in parallel so I can charge it at it's max rate, even on hazy to cloudy days.
Thanks Hobotech, I've been watching and waiting. I missed out on the Jackery Expl 300's before they sold out. Now I'm glad I did! I can't believe I caught this product/deal in time. Another plus was being able to use your sales link! The 3C's are happy campers:) You rock !!!
Professor Hobo, I don't listen to my Dr. as much as I do to you, You are the BEST most thorough reviewer on RUclips!! Incredible. I am waiting for a Bluetti with 500w - 600w LIFE04 battery (approx 600watt == 1200w surge pure-sine just like EB3A!) with all the specs of the Bluetti EB3A only with a larger battery than the EB3A. I have an EB3A and it is the ultimate best Bluetti just needs to clone the EB3A with a larger size LIFE04 battery.(I would buy it in a flash!) This AC50s isn't what I would buy, worse case I would buy a 2nd EB3A and Daisy chain them. The EB3A keeps my full size kitchen refrig running (maybe 4 hours) , and I over-panel it with HQST Three 100watt solar panels in parallel, no problems... Keep up great job!!! You are da Man!!!
i bought this and Bluetti 120 watt solar panel during it indiegogo days. It's a great product which provided the power i needed to run my Massimo 50L e-cooler during my 9 day camping trip.
I actually charged it using my 110AC plug in the truck of my GX470 (didn't have a 12volt where I had placed the battery). I only charged it using solar when I was parked. So majority of charging was from the SUV.
Also it won't charge from a 24v vehiclic in 4 hours because it is hard limited at 122w and the fastest time I have got it to charge from Zero to full is 5 hours 5 minutes using the Bluetti T-200 /200watt charger from an EB180 and the using a 200w panel it still won't accept more than 122w no matter what you use to charge it, hope that helps anyone who still has one of these older models that are no longer made.
It would be nice if Bluetti filled their PRE-orders from mid September (2 months) FIRST before filling ONE NEW order on Amazon. Sorry about the rant, good review, but I'm kinda pissed off.
This what I notice, use the "promo code" they put you on backorder while your payment gathers interest in their bank. They will wait you out since you are using a discount code, there are those paying full price they will cater first. Finally you are tired of waiting you cancel the order, bye bye discount code, hello interest for them. As long demand is great, they can play their games.
@@jimtalor7971 Ha Ha.Guess what. I ordered mine with a discount code for $349. Pretty crappy, when they claim first come, first serve, which I know ISN'T TRUE based on some discussion at diysolarforum. I did order an AC100 with a discount code and that came within two weeks, but that is a low demand item. At this point, I am on the edge of cancelling. I did pick up an Anker Powerhouse II 400 for about the same price but slightly lower spec. Nice unit with regulated 12V output. *****EDIT **** Another delay till end of November. Hobotech link to Amazon only shows older, non regulated 12V models. Bluetti website shows "end of November" delivery date. Cancelled my pre-order from mid September.
@@ronbotex that's it? you couldn't wait? I've had orders that took 6 months to be fulfilled... you do realize all the shipping stuff is backed up like crazy ?
Professor Hoboteck, thank you for the $80 off with the HOBO50OR. It worked. I plan to run a ICECO fridge/freezer on it. I also picked up the 120w panel $100 off.
Attention: Click on Hobotechs Amazon link.... AC50S no longer there, just the older non-regulated version. Go to Bluetti website, date is now "as soon as End of November"....translated means you are lucky to get it by Christmas. I just cancelled my pre-order from mid-September. Good luck to all who wish to wait.
@@MsLaurN Well here's the thing; when you pre-order and pay for something, wait patiently for two months, are told no units available, and then units appear on Amazon for immediate sale(for a short time in this case), YOU ARE BEING LIED TO.
I just ordered one of these from Amazon for about $370. I wanted it to run my CPAP when im camping with it. I'm also switching my lawnmower to battery power and I already own a battery chainsaw and other battery tools. Soon, I want to get some panels so I can change all this stuff from the sun. Seems everything is going battery, so this will be my entry into solar. I like the info you put out, so I sub'd👍
So i was doing research on you tube for a good sogen. Watched a lot of vids on this sogen, not to many vids out there put this thing through the ringer like u do. Thx to u, i woke up today and bought this for my b-day. I was gonna get the bluetti ac70, but something is wrong with that one.
Thank you so much for this review. I have a Jackery 300 and was looking at this one as my secondary or primary unit and it seems this will become the primary. Can't wait to road-test it!
Hi, thank you so much for your very informative video. I just ordered one of these on the Spring sale for $399 after doing a lot of comparisons and for what my needs and present budget will allow. I mostly wanted this for when I camp in my SUV for my Koolatron fridge, phone, tablet usb fan and maybe an electric blanket, as well as extra power in my Pop Up when boondocking. Would I be able to use 4 - 40 watt 12 V solar panels = 160 watts connected in parallel through a hub to charge this? I believe the max each panel can produce in ideal conditions is 2.4 amp's. I'm very new to this solar charging process as an older woman camping solo. I have 4 of the Coleman foldable panels and a Noma Hub and an Anderson to MC 4 adaptor cable I am getting. I had one of these panels and was able to get three more for a really good price so I thought this would be a doable solution. I will also use this set up for my pop up camper, but of course with a switch out 20 amp controller as the Bluetti has it built in (which I'm thinking is enough combined as Individually they each come with a 7 amp controller) in that scenario with my 12V RV deep cycle battery. I would be grateful to know if there's something I'm overlooking, or if you think this is a workable scenario, or is this to much combined wattage and should I only use two of them together in parallel to charge the Bluetti AC50S?? Thank you kindly for any help. 😊🙌
If you ordered the ac50s you might have to wait pass Nov.The only made x amount this month and that's to fill in the backordered ones from Sept. Good luck if you want to wait.
Sorry to say Bluetti lies about delivery dates . I pre-ordered mine on Sept 17 from their website with stated delivery of mid October on their website AND from a customer service email(Kevin) and I'm still waiting. But they have stock NOW on Amazon, for reviewers, and 5 units for a giveaway contest that ended on November 3. Based on some posts on diysolarforum, I know of at least one person that ordered in early October, and have received it. Apparently it is NOT first come first served. Once they have your money, they deliver in whatever random order they see fit. Good products, but awful customer service and order fulfillment.
@@ronbotex For what it's worth, they never promised me a delivery date, just that they would text and email me when it was ready to ship. So my expectations aren't high, it would just be nice to have some kind of vague ballparrk month in which to expect it...
They've been back-ordered since at least last month. I ordered one in early October at the early bird pricing, when the "shipping" date was supposed to be mid-October. They subsequently shipped a handful and then announced a new shipping date of Nov. 15th. I'm VERY anxious to get my unit!! But if it lives up to this review, I won't have minded waiting 6 weeks at all!
@@NorthernKitty keep waiting....I ordered in June with the 2000 model and was supposed to receive by now. I can’t even get Tracking information because it hasn’t “left “the warehouse yet. It doesn’t matter how great a product is if you have to wait 6 months for it.
@@matticusstupendicus check his link below this video to Amazon because it really looks like the new version and it's the price of what the new version is too
Hi Mr Hoboteck! Im retire with small SS Check. So, I got a small Van and I plan to hit the road to visit Grandkids and some parks. I hace to use my savings And I can’t afford losing them. All Im buying its a 25 quarts Fridge and a 500 wats generator. So, If you in my situation which one you’ll buy? The bluetti 500 for $449 or The R600 max also $449. All I need it for is the fridge, laptop and maybe some camas batteries. I appreciate your help in advance! And congratulations in your channel I enjoy the way you detailed everything. Thanks!
The specs (from the Bluetti AC50S manual) for a solar pannel is “DC12V-40V/120W.” How then can you use the “BougeRV 180 Watts Monocrystalline Solar Panel?”
I love your station for battery and fridge reviews. Very helpful in planning my van life plans, which i am a total noob at. Sorry if this is a dumb question. If doing minivan life, can you charge the blueetti battery from the 12 volt plug in the cab of the car while the car is running and at the same time can you run the fridge from the bluetti battery? Also is there a difference in efficiency (energy draw) between running the fridge from 12 volt plug in the blueetti vs the regular 3 prong plug in the bluetti? I am looking at getting a new hybrid 2021 sienna. Trying to figure out my power solutions. Also trying to determine if I would need to get the upgrade if 1500 watt inverter plug or can run cords back from the driver's area back to fridge (stored in the rear well). Thanks for all your excellent reviews.
The 500 watt, customer service and the awesome flashlight was my reason for choosing the Jackery, combine the high voltage of the ACS50 with the 500watt capability of the Jackery, then you’d have a winner
Question for you @Hobotech... would running a 200W 24V panel safely charge the AC50S, and how much faster would you guess it would charge it compared to a 100W 12V panel (declining rate of return or actually twice as fast)?
Did you mention/talk about somewhere that you can only charge it to 50% with a 12v car setup? What do you recommend to counter this? Can it charge to 100% with just a single solar panel? Thanks.
Love this video!! Would you recommend this for a weekend non electric hookup weekend away in a camper van? We would be using a regular 12v fridge, a 12v tv, smart phones and an iPad just for some reference
Will tested this and his only did half ac capacity I wonder if his was damaged like your AC 300 was damaged or rather b300 battery was great review as always!
Great video. Any chance you can do a cpap test with this unit I’m sure there are a lot of people wanting some more info. Camping off the grid with a cpap brings many challenges. Most are looking for an all in one reasonably priced solution. Need about 3 days usage if you have bad weather and can’t solar charge. Running with humidifier and without and also fixed pressure compared to auto adjust. How many hours would you be able to run.
I am getting this for a backup for my CPAP. “Pass thru” is everything! But the manual say it doesn’t suggest hooking it up this way because it would wear on the battery. Isn’t that the point of “Pass thru”. That it’s not actually using the battery, it’s passing thru from the outlet to the device. Should I not get this device based on that?
The best review. I wish there was an Australian version, so far just the 220VAC EU version but nothing with the Australian wall mount. The only thing close to this out here is Goal Zero 500X, and they are very expensive (AUD$1250-$1350).
I wish reviews were postponed from being released till a product was in stock. And a notice was put in that said that it was in stock at the release of the review. Just like the Suaoki s200 review where they wanted the item in stock before Hobo released his review (and thus he delayed making his video till it came in stock and gave a very honest review as a result). As for the AC50s, there are lookalike devices on Amazon I could get for cheaper if I really wanted one but I don't. Great video as always though.
I already postponed this review for 3 months waiting for stock which just came in at Amazon. This was at the request of Bluetti. It is in stock at Amazon right now and will be back in stock at Bluetti soon. There were issues at customs with shipments that got turned back so stock is limited. Those "lookalike" products are copies of the old AC50 and don't have regulated 12v.
I just ordered this unit, thanks for the review! Question - I have a portable 100w Renogy panel with a PWM Controller. Can I use that to charge the AC50S being that it has a built in MPPT controller?
Bought a new Bluetti A50S and an Iceco VL35 refrigerator. Bluetti will run the refrigerator for around 6 hours then shuts down with no error code and an 80% charge. Turn the Bluetti off and on again then it will power up to start running the fridge again. After 6 or so hours it repeats the process. Finally, after about 50 hours, it shuts down with a low voltage error code. Contacted Maxoak and was told that the unit was designed that if there was no power use it would cut off after a certain amount of time. If this was the case seem like it would be useless to run a refrigerator. Iceco runs fine on 110 adapter or off car outlet. Am I making some kind of mistake here or missing something?
Based on your excellent reveiw, I just recieved my AC50S. But the input from the Thunderbird Solar panels I got (120W) won't connect to either of the 2 'from solar' plugs, where the other end plugs into the back of the Bluetti like the AC charger does. I thought these were 'universal' solar connectors. The Thunderbird has its own MPPT, and what plugs into that looks like what you plug into a DC 3V socket for power. The other end of that coming from the panels, has a male and female end together. Do I need a third adapter? Thanks to any here, need to get this figure out soon! Edited to add: i looked around on HOBOTECH's stuff site, and found the following, which will connect to that which goes toward the external MPPT controller on the Thunderbolt panel. I can just connect directly to the male/female coming out of the thunderbolt, and the other end is the 8mm male that goes into the AC50S: www.amazon.com/dp/B085382H49?tag=hobotech0e-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1
Thanks! Will it charge a 60w macbook pro 16 inch model through the usb ? I see that at 18'30 you talk about those adapters, but I am not sure that the lack of quickcharge is only for the usb a, or also for the usb-c.
I see a lot of less than lovely comments, so I wanted to throw in my thanks and a question at the end! I saw your review earlier this year, and have kept my eyes on it ever since. I'd been holding off for more reviews as I'm new to the small scale solar (I came over from backpacking and car camping, we're researching tiny trailers power systems and I ended up here!). But we lost power for 6 days 2 weeks ago from a midwest ice-storm and I was kicking myself for not having just ordered the damn thing earlier this year. Thankfully we were able to power our smaller anker's and other batteries with solar panels I'd picked up in August/September, lessening the amount of dreaded car-sitting time. We never had to leave our home (except to borrow a shower 🤪) as we have been hard quarantining to help our friends when a planned hospital stay was going to occur for their family member. Thanks for clear explanations above and beyond "it's cute and it works". I did a lot of brand feature comparison, and your channel was one of my favorite resources for being clear and concise. I can't wait for my AC50S! This ice storm was unseasonably early, but that doesn't mean we won't have another later this year. And soon we'll be ready! Question: I have a 120w solar panel, can I put it in parallel with a smaller (say 60w?) panel? I haven't researched putting multiple panels together yet, but I know where I'll start my research :) Thanks for what you do!
Walmart recently had the AC50 model on sale for $329 so I went ahead and purchased it. A few days later, Amazon had the AC50S back in stock at $429 with a $40 coupon. I cancelled my Walmart order and got the AC50S model. When and how much to spend on a solar generator these days is comparable to the quandry people have when buying a laptop, "do I buy this model now or do I wait a few months until the newer, more powerful model hits the shelves at about the same price"? lol
@@HOBOTECH There's a comment in the manual's FAQ stating that they don't recommend charging and discharging at the same time, because it will impact battery life (due to thermal issues?). How real do you think that is, and wouldn't that preclude using it as a UPS?
Great review! Thank you, Professor! From the Bluetti AC50S web page: - DC12V car can recharge it to 40-50% capacity - DC24V car can recharge it fully What does that mean?
This information was for the old AC50. The AC50S can recharge to 100% even with DC 12V. (There are several german reviews where you can see them testing this)
Can I use this for movie night in the backyard with the FANGOR 8500L Native 1080P Projector? Or do you recommend another for camping and movie night outside. Thank You Professor Hobo!
So what 500 do you recomend, just be going out in wilderness for a day or two. Hoping to charge drone batteries, lap top, high end phone. I am tempted to go with the Jackery 500 with their solar panels because it seems more solid and good aftercare support.
Hey professor, I really like your style. Very, very informative and entertaining. I was thinking of getting the Dometic PLB40 to run my Bodega 36 qt fridge which draws 32 watts at startup and draws about 31 watts or a little less, depending. The PLB40 is on sale for $729. I want to run the fridge in my Jeep when camping and pass-through charge from the vehicle battery when driving. Would the Bluetti AC50S give me comparable capability and fridge run-time as the PLB40 or better at almost half the price? (Maybe I'm trying to compare apples and oranges.) Thanks!
Thanks for all the helpful vids! So would you need any charge controller between the panels and Gen or is that now built in? Also is there any loss to be considered if your charging set up is at a distance? That is the location of the Gen is @ 30 ft from the panels. Seems like I heard you this factor in some mention this factor in another video.
Amazon sell’s it for 459$ and as a 100$ coupon so 359$ for the ac50... seller’s says even if it’s ac50, there all 12v regulated now, so no more ac50 it’s all ac50s now... not sure if I trust him so my question is: should I wait till the ac50s is available and pay more or take a chance with this deal? I’m going to use it essentially for cpap and 12v fridge when I go camping. Thanks!
I wish I understood what regulated dc power meant back then. The old AC50 dc power is not regulated. New ones are advertised as being regulated. I have the old one and it won't run my fridge past 60% power. I have to run AC but it will drain Ac50 in 24hours. Live and learn. Now looking for a deal on a eb70s. I'll just end up with two power stations.
Will the RockPals 100 panel work with this? In your previous review of Rockpals 100 you mentioned that the MPTT Solar Generators would need higher voltage in order to charge efficiently. I understand you can run more than one panel to this SO but will the Rockpals work with this? Love your content. Please keep it up.

I pre ordered mine and I been using it for the last three weeks. It’s been awesome. I been using it to mainly run my dometic cfx35.
Yeah i know, thats what Hobotec said. But it is not the ultimative deal breaker, just a little "issue".
Maybe Bluetti change it in the third version 😅
Just bought one, AC50s with the 50 dollars off and free s/h direct from their site!!! Thank you professor. Do let us know if they come out with another campaign. I had to pay tax bc I think they have an office in Denver. Still a good deal!! Now I own two Bluetti products. AC200(Indiegogo) and the AC50s!
Just bought the 2400, now I'm thinking about this one for my camping trips
I just ordered direct (March 18 2021) using your code ; -$60. = $369.99 delivered. Thanks. I was very close to ordering the Jack 300 at $299 but with tax it was well over $300, so for a few bucks more I got this one with more capability plus this one allows me to use pretty much any solar panel. Perfect. I appreciate all you do.
I love that you can connect multiple solar panels to this!
I’m loving mine! Wireless charging is awesome.
The AC50 does not have a regulated 12v DC power output so that's a deal breaker for me
Can you elaborate as to why that’s a deal breaker? I’m comparing the AC50S and the AC50 on the Bluetti site and they seem basically identical.
@@gpw955 with an unregulated DC power the dc voltage will drop as the battery discharges (as it is used). Some things you use will not operate at a lower dc voltage. Regulated power will keep the DC voltage constant, regardless of the state of charge of your power station
The handles on top, the lights on back, I’m sold.
You really excel at teaching. I enjoy being your student.
Thanks for making a review that is so detailed but still easy to understand for a layman like me. I've seen mixed reviews but you've really got me sold. I'm definitely getting one of these for my van build.
Just ordered and used your code. Still good as of 1-9-21.
Be well!
I'm sold !.... I'm getting this with the 120 watt panel..at $629 it seems like a great value.
Same problem here
Just bought the Bluetti AC50s cannot wait. Thanks for the review.👍
Just bought this and the 120w solar panel for a great sale on their website. Really excited to get this and to charge my devices on it.
I ordered two of these after watching this video. They are perfect
Thanks for the discount! Bought the ac50s today! Can't wait to get it.
Works great for my 12volt 45 watt refrigerator. I do hate cigarette power plugs. Heard that the ac current isn't efficient..I won't use it anyway.
Great end to end review. Thanks for putting the extra mile to test the upper limitations of the product!
Did you do pass through charging? Charging with panel while running the cooler?
I have the AC50S and two Renogy 100w panels. The AC50S supports my ICECO VL45 at about 40w while charging at 122w.
@@leelfm see response below.
I actually charged it using my 110AC plug in the truck of my GX470 (didn't have a 12volt where I had placed the battery). I only charged it using solar when I was parked. So majority of charging was from the SUV.
Just got mine this week. Loving it so far
Im so glad I found this channel.
I just looked at the Bluetti site: sold out. You can want one, but you can't get one.
@@MsLaurN Well here's the thing; when you pre-order and pay for something, wait patiently for two months, are told no units available, and then units appear on Amazon for immediate sale(for a short time in this case), YOU ARE BEING LIED TO.
Question: how would you rate the Bluetti against the Jackery? Which one would you recommend? Is the Bluetti cheaper?
Jackery 500 is a dinosaur. Bluetti is not just cheaper it has far more features and a longer life battery.
Thank you Mr. Hobotech. I just purchased this with $50 off. Indeed, best bang for the buck!
Yep, ordered Oct 12...crickets.
Arrived today... Nice piece of kit... It's smaller and weighs less than I thought it would. (That's what they ALL say)..
I think im getting this because it seems easy to use. Unlike the others or building one , which is totally confusing.
Sold out already on the Bluetti website. That got out of hand fast..... I’m not even mad, I’m kind of impressed lol.

Thanks!
4:14 says can use 2 panels in series and IF you can get 120 watts going in you can charge it in under 4 hours.
13:11 max charge rate test.
He says 2 panels of 100 watts each, wired in series, in series, is fine. Most of the time !
Actually the useable watt hours in Hobotechs tests 553 for Jackery V2 vs 435 for Bluetti is a big selling point for Jack....
@@ronbotex yes that is correct, I just wish Jackery had 40 volt and 300watt solar charging capacity, it would be perfect
Thank you! I just bought it 2 weeks ago. The blue box they called it Wqtfun
That's not the same thing.
Just got mine today in the mail, used your discount code and I got a great deal
I am getting this for a backup for my CPAP. “Pass thru” is everything! But the manual say it doesn’t suggest hooking it up this way because it would wear on the battery.
Isn’t that the point of “Pass thru”. That it’s not actually using the battery, it’s passing thru from the outlet to the device.
Should I not get this device based on that?
Thanks for the review - I have just bought this - Which solar panel would you suggest to use with it ?
The best review. I wish there was an Australian version, so far just the 220VAC EU version but nothing with the Australian wall mount. The only thing close to this out here is Goal Zero 500X, and they are very expensive (AUD$1250-$1350).
The two 3A ports are probably on a 6A protection circuit... which is why it tripped at 7A...
Fantastic detailed review. Thank you. I just bought this with the solar panel.
Great review! Tom, is it just me or are these solar generators advancing rapidly? I'm very impressed by this.
The only thing I wish this had was double the inverter watts, otherwise perfect.
I can just connect directly to the male/female coming out of the thunderbolt, and the other end is the 8mm male that goes into the AC50S:

Thanks! Will it charge a 60w macbook pro 16 inch model through the usb ? I see that at 18'30 you talk about those adapters, but I am not sure that the lack of quickcharge is only for the usb a, or also for the usb-c.
Thanks for this. Decided to go with this battery and the SP120. Also, thanks for the discount codes. Great videos.
You don't want to mismatch panels in parallel.
@@HOBOTECH duly noted, thank you!
Thanks for the review! This will definetly be my life saver during power outtages here in Ukraine
Walmart recently had the AC50 model on sale for $329 so I went ahead and purchased it. A few days later, Amazon had the AC50S back in stock at $429 with a $40 coupon. I cancelled my Walmart order and got the AC50S model. When and how much to spend on a solar generator these days is comparable to the quandry people have when buying a laptop, "do I buy this model now or do I wait a few months until the newer, more powerful model hits the shelves at about the same price"? lol
The Amazon links appear to be linking to the AC50, not AC50S. I can't seem to find the S model on Amazon at all.
Amazon cleaning house with old stuff!
I can use this in my home as an Uninterruptable Power Supply. It can keep my internet equipment up during an outage.
This does not have a UPS relay but you can leave it plugged in while running devices.
From the Bluetti AC50S web page:
- DC12V car can recharge it to 40-50% capacity
- DC24V car can recharge it fully
What does that mean?
I demonstrated in this video it charging at 100 watts at 12 volts when the battery was at 60%.
This information was for the old AC50. The AC50S can recharge to 100% even with DC 12V.
(There are several german reviews where you can see them testing this)
@@herbie030LG - Ah! Now, I understand. My thanks to you to you and to the Professor! Man, that sure is a great solar generator!

You are amazing. I used the $379 offer. What a great deal. Thanks
So what 500 do you recomend, just be going out in wilderness for a day or two. Hoping to charge drone batteries, lap top, high end phone. I am tempted to go with the Jackery 500 with their solar panels because it seems more solid and good aftercare support.
Can anyone recommend the most cost effective solar panel for the 50s? Should I pay a little more and get the Bluetti 120w portable?

One of the other two Bluetti’s he talked about or the Bluetti AC200.
@@leelfm Thank you!
Yep, look at my reviews for the EB150 and EB240.
@@HOBOTECH Thank you very much!
Just received my AC50s.
The Good- looks cool.
The Bad- quit working after two days use. I think mine had the Ferengi sourced components
