Hi Hobotech. All this is French to me LOL. I'm trying to see what I would need for a window AC (10,000 BTU), home fridge and computer or cell phone in case of emergency at home. What do you recommend in solar generators? Thanks
how can I run a small portable AC unit for 8 hours overnight while I sleep in my van with the jackery 1000. is that possible? or do i need solar panels?? tnx
QUESTION: HATE ASKING BUT WHAT WITH TIMES AS THEY ARE, I MUST. DO YOU HAVE ANY EXTRA JACKERIES TO RUN A FREEZER (CHEST TYPE) I'M AN OLD DISABLED WOMAN WHOSE DESPERATE TO HAVE SOMETHING BUT MY SOC SEC IS ONLY ALLOWING ME TO SUSTAIN, NO EXTRAS. THERE IS ME AND MY SERVICE DOG. I'LL PROVE THIS IF NEED BE, THANK YOU
I bought a Jackery 1000 about a month ago and love it so much that I just bought a second one that's on it's way as I write this. I also bought two of the 100 watt Jackery solar panels... I don't live in a van or RV. I've lived in a very remote area of the Southern California Mojave Desert in a home on five acres of sand for the past 44 years. Thanks to the Professor, I've learned more from him than I ever learned in school. He's an American asset that should be given a RUclips medal for his wisdom and teaching skills. I was born in 1937. Technology has taken off during my lifetime and things like the Jackery 1000 would have seemed impossible to create at the time I was growing up. The Edison electric company has trouble keeping the power on in California at any time, but during the hot summers my power is sometimes off more than it's on. The Jackery 1000, together with the solar panels and a small Honda Inverter Generator will help me and my 3 best friend dogs to survive for a few more years. Thank you Professor Hobo for giving me so much valuable information on so many things.
I bought the Jackery 1000 a couple of months ago and highly recommend it. I emailed Jackery with a question last week and they answered it within 2 hours. Excellent customer service.
I know absolutely nothing about watts, amps, or volts; but I'm learning. Thank you so much for doing these videos. I hope to buy a good solar generator and panels as they become more affordable.
This was your best review yet! Show people they can go solar without breaking the bank..... For people who live in a home , they need to know to just power the essentials... make ice and flush your toilet / bathe . Keep it simple a be independent sooner rather then later. You don’t need a Cadillac when a VW will take care of your needs
The 1000 is a beast but I just ordered a 500 because it is more than adequate for my needs. Besides the 1000, even with a discount, would be a little pricey for me. Got $50 off on Amazon for my 500. The 12v regulated output on the Jackery was the deciding factor over other units. I'm a recent subscriber and thanks for your excellent reviews. Because of your reviews I feel I have chosen the best and appropriate product for my needs.
You answered many of my questions as a solo female Senior soon to be nomad. I guessed I needed a Jackery 1000 to power my new Maxx air fan, 110 college room fridge, couple other small items. Just bought a 2020 Promaster 2500 high top, determined to figure it all out. Again thank you for an easy explanation!!! My sweet kitty will be traveling with me.
I’m a Pilot car driver escorting Oversize loads, and have been incessantly researching refrigerators and freezers and portable power stations... I am SO GLAD I came across your channel. Beyond great videos Dr. Hobo!
Mark Mc Donald I cant work with those dimensions of the VL45 in my current setup, but thanks for the input as I do believe they both have the same compressor!
Im not how you utubers do it. The repeat questions and mean comments might drive me over the edge. Thank you for sharing your intelligence, kindness for animals and helping others understand this difficult subject.
Jackery is recalling the first generation Jackery 1000 due to a potential AC Output failure. They will replace them with a brand new unit. Pretty good service they have!
We have the Jackery Explorer 1000. We powered a 4.2 residential refrigerator in our off grid cabin, it ran it all night long. In the morning we turn on our propane generator to power the split A/C, and the refrigerator.
I don't usually like to express myself using coarse language, but DAMN, you are the best of the best in explaining things in a common sense AND scientific manner. You sir, are an answer to my prayers in trying to find out how portable batteries work. God bless you!
Just a little FYI to your viewers, those with CPAP especially. My wife uses CPAP. I got a watt meter and measured her machines consumption last night. Humidifier on as usual. I don't know if it warms the air or if it can be switched on of off if it does. It used 41 watts the way she always uses it. The meter calculated it used 0.317 Kilo Watts over night, about 8 hours. Your machine might use more or less but maybe it will be a ball park figure to help you plan what size you might need.
If you can do without the humidifier, than the consumption will drop considerably. Last night my ResMed Airsense 10 without humidifier used 18.8 Watts per hour.
We run a CPAP off our RV power system and changed the power supply over to a dc-dc unit instead of plugging into the 120v A/C plug running off the inverter. The new CPAP power supply plugs into the 12V socket and steps the voltage up to 24V. It was about a 40% decrease in power consumption running it off a DC power supply instead of the inverter. ResMed CPAP.
@@MisterRisk My guess is that these Jackerys do lots of things but those of us who need cpap are a significant piece of the market and the unit purchased has to be at least big enough to get you through the night. I wonder if that 12 to 24 thing has consistent 24 out as the 12 volt supply gets weaker and voltage drops? The Jackery maintains 12 volts until nearly the end of its discharge cycle.
Thanks for being so detailed, as I'm not a techi or a math master of watts who needs to get a portable solar generator in my emergency kit and you explained the watts hour and power level conversion so simple and clear that I actually can move forward sourcing a portable generator and now can do the conversion of watt hour usage based on my personal equipment requirements, thanks truly appreciate the content👍☺
I'm thoroughly enjoying and learning from your videos. I have 3 Jackerys that are my full time power. I haven't used my Honda gas generator since my first Jackery 240 purchase. Happy camper here.
THANK YOU DR. ☺️ I live in Puerto Rico and electric power is reallly iffy. I've lost so much food from power outages. I've lost two refrigerators from power highs and lows. Thanks again for the information.
This was a great quick video that I think a lot of us have been looking for. For those who are looking to get off the grid or at least supplement some power via solar, this answered a lot questions - and the comment you made about having a regulated output was very appreciated. I’ve been following you more and more and I’m glad I have. Thanks for doing this!
Thank you so much! I already own a 6 qt. Instant Pot and I thought I might have to buy a smaller Instant Pot. Now I know I won't have to do that. Really appreciate the videos!
And I have to thankyou for all your fine work! Even though I don't understand it all, it helps a lot to know what can be done! You're a great public service!
Great video for real world applications. For those who don't know...If you don't know what something needs in watts.... Watts = Voltage x Amps...so something that pulls 2 amps on 110 volts = 220 watts. Something that pulls 2 amps on 12 volts = 24 watts. Yep, that simple.
Great review. I can charge this with the 120v in the bed of my 2017 Tacoma. All it would power is a 12v fridge, 12v water pump for a few minutes and a 12v water heater probe with a temp adjustment that I would only turn on a few minutes a day to heat water for dishes and a shower. This would be fantastic and so worth the price of a battle born battery. Great product
Thanks again for this great video on things that can be powered. I purchased my jackery 1000 with 2 solar saga 100s on launch date. I haven't really used it because of the current health crisis. But have used it during 2 power outages here in the Northeast. It only used 7% to run my CPAP for 8 Hrs (12v) I have a converter for my Cpap. The following night used 13% on AC. Also powered a few other small devices. Oh I was informed this monday that the cable to connect both Panels would be coming before June. I emailed Jackery and they responded.

Hi Tom, Right now I have a group in my back yard planning an overland camping trip. Highlight of the meetings morning entertainment was the J500 Solarsaga 100 and a Dometic freezer make ice. Thanks for helping me find just what I needed. Now can you recommend a therapist. I am starting to worythat making ice was more interesting than powering a TV.
It will run an air fryer which is probably more versatile than a cook plate. I just bought a Jackery 1000 on Amazon Prime last week for $1100 which included two solar panels.
Hey Tom another great video !!! I also have an ICECO GO20 Dual zone, works great with the Jackery 290.The great thing about the ICECO's are their compressors, they are German & have a 5 year warranty. I really do believe that the Jackery 1000 is the best bang for the buck, especially for power outages, like the ones we have here in Florida due to the Hurricanes.
Dang Hobo..That was the best what can I run video...I mean those units would be a great addition for camping..Power damn near everything..For Me though I would have to go big and do the 240,and know i got it all powered..Hope you are staying well,We in Michigan are still grounded until the end of the month..And I can't wait..road trip time..
Very nice product application video, Tom. Use cases in video demo are compelling, and you are a good articulator --engaging, not abrasive, and with excellent cadence. Fridges, heaters, microwaves, induction plates, and small air conditioners with SOFT START are by far the most used, desired, and asked about applications for portable power stations I speak to people about (more of my questions than giving answers) and you nailed all those categories for the 100 WH Jackery. Thank you. One question. This video content is approaching one year old, and the AC unit demo'd is getting harder to acquire, and may not today be the best of the best of the best across efficiency, quality, and economics. Is there a specific AC (updated offering) that the E1000 (version 2 if that matters) equally handles that is 2021 or very late 2020 model? And, what is the specific impact on W/H draw if migrating to the same maker, 6000 BTU, SOFT START version? Seeking a very specific AC update/replacement recommend for the AC unit you included in this video if you a tried and true contemporary option. Your product reviews WITH use cases of real appliances carry weight in the public eye. Keep em coming, as "lab testing" the ports with measurement devices, however seemingly cool isn't that helpful for the vast majority of POTENTIAL buyers of ULTRA PORTABLE, high power, stations/solar generators. Generally, IMO, people want to see appliance use cases in action and info on longevity, quality and support SHOULD something happen. As a former QC inspector, you know this to be true. Kind regards.
Great videos man, really. Glad I found you. Here is the million dollar question I have. If I were going to spend 1k on this product. How many years can it truly last. Let's pretend I take care of it according to the manual.
Love your sense of humor it gets me every time and of course your information is incredibly useful matter fact I’m applying it to my own electric property maintenance business and my camping set up
Professor, have you thought about reviewing the Sungzu 1000? I have heard good reviews about it and I actually bought one given the huge amount of power outages in my country. I found it at a good price here and I am expecting it to arrive this week.
Hey HOBOTECH - with as many of these power stations as you've received for free, I think you ought to consider giving one of them to Camo Dave. He's provided you with lots of free publicity by reporting on many of your videos, and thus, has sent a lot of new viewers your way. Just a thought. Cheers!
Those look like nice speakers Mr Hobo. Maybe Elac? Watch your ear drums 😜. Just used my jackery 1000 all weekend. Wife having electric blanket? Priceless.
Good video thanks. You mentioned the cooking. It would be cool to see a video about how your diet have changed or the foods you prepare now more often having been living in a camper vs house if it have changed and if you like the camper life now vs the old life. Will Prowse didn't seem to enjoy the camper life and now has a house.
Very practical video. Thanks. Its a shame you can't get your fans some nice discount with the Jackery Products. If they did give you a discount code, even with sharing some with you, I'm sure they make more in the long run.
I tried, and tried, and tried. They don't want to take some very wise marketing advice from someone that was upper management in a California tech company.
Yea my mom runs her heater all nite long. How do we do that. If we run 2 hrs then turns off. How long does it take to recharge jackery by solar? Does the ecoflow or blueetti work better time charging by solar?? Other question if jackery was plugged in to solar say like on a winter day how many hours will it run?? Other question a full size house freezer how king will it run w jackery. Then how long will run w solar panels. Thanks. I'm trying to figure out for mom needs if jackery 1000 or ecoflow or bluetti. Sounds like u prefer jackery 1000. But I do have a problem meeting mom need w heater maybe there is a battery power source not sure what it's called. I'm pretty new to this. But need to get one soon.
I would buy a second jackery as a back up and/or get longer time of use in case of long periods of time where the solar energy is not available. For 1000 more dollars, i would be fully covered. Just my take. Maybe Jackery would give a 10% or so discount to get two of them. Do not forget that for some equipment like phones, tablets, using the car battery does not pose a problem at all. SO keep the jackery for 12v fridge, TV, coffee maker, small heater/AC... That said, for campers, a heated blanket seems to be a very good option. 10 minutes before getting pout of bed, turn on a small heater to warm up the van/camper and you would be just fine. Just my take as I am thinking about enjoying more time outdoor/off grid
Video suggestion. How well will the battery float a charge on a large draw. 200 watts of solar. Plug into your heater possibly. Like to see a comparison of with solar and without solar. And a time-lapse would be nice. This video will give a sense of how well it floats charge the power converter. Mainly for us poor guys who do not understand how much 200 watts can do. Or is it a 150 with all the reductions.
Portable power sources are much like electric vehicles in that the initial outlay is substantial. One must factor in those costs and decide if the convenience/portability are actually worth it for one's situation. Competent presentation though. Thanks.
You need a pocket protector for that lab coat. And maybe you could find an old slide rule so when your talking about wattage consumption divided into available watthours you can whip out the slide rule and impress all your viewers!
For all these devices with lcd screens. Its possible the screen on these devices could get damaged by accident if struct by an object. So a plexiglass insert or coverdoor would be nice , or make one. As for the 12v car port, I think those are fuse limited at 10A for safety due to thin consumer device wires , hence can only supply 120w but thats usually enough.
Wow love the way you break it down. Been searching for answers (like with Jack run an air conditioner day n night but you were the only one that spelled it out. Could not find that video you said you did on generator that will run air conditioner 24/7 but cant find it. Also wanted to know which air conditioner is best. Thankyou so very much.
Thanks for the excellent break down of the jackery/bluetti. Do you know if there's any way to avoid the problems (many) people have had with the manufacturers of these things? At this point I'm not comfortable with paying $1,500 or more for a device that I could be stuck with - unable to send back a faulty jackery/bluetti because shipping companies won't ship batteries? There were several huge problems people reported with even the most expensive brands/models.
Like the reviews on the solar generators, surprised you havent reviewed the goal zeros yet or did I miss it? Deciding on which to get. The jackery 1000 would be great but missed out on the discount code. Looking at the goalzero yeti 1000. The bluetti is pricey but nice too
@@HOBOTECH Got it, I looked up the specs and found out they are still using PWM to charge so they are off my list. I narrowed it down to the Jackery 1000 or Bluetti. Looking for something to run my new Dometic CFX3 45 that arrives this week. i really hope Jackery gives a discount again. Keep up the great work!
I doubt it. Between the recall and supply issues don't expect one. They had a "Memorial Day Sale" for about 4 hours then yanked it right after I posted a video about it that THEY asked me to post. They aren't on my happy list right now.
My Bluetti 2400 will run by portable induction cooktop on level two which draws 700 Watts. I'm able to boil water to make ramen and can soups and spaghetti.
Thank you I have a diesel heater an was wondering how it would work cuz I read it can use up to 11.5 amps at start up. I seen a video were he tested it and with the glow plug on it was using 10.7 amps. Now I feel better about getting a solar generator.

This video is perfect for what I need. Been looking for ever for a video on this type of info!!
Thanks bro for your thoughts and experiences with power stations. Keep up the good work and stay safe and God bless you and your family
"I know it's cheap right now but it won't be cheap forever " that didn't age will🤣
Hi Tom, Right now I have a group in my back yard planning an overland camping trip. Highlight of the meetings morning entertainment was the J500 Solarsaga 100 and a Dometic freezer make ice. Thanks for helping me find just what I needed. Now can you recommend a therapist. I am starting to worythat making ice was more interesting than powering a TV.
I have the Bluettie EB240 and love it. Waiting on my AC200. Keep the Odin outro!
It will run an air fryer which is probably more versatile than a cook plate. I just bought a Jackery 1000 on Amazon Prime last week for $1100 which included two solar panels.
Yes, for heat propane is generally much better. I love my Olympian Wave 6 heater.
Here in Oct. 2021 and gas is creeping to $5 a gallon and inflation is galloping. “Gas won’t be cheap forever!” Ya got that right.
Ive been getting ready to move out recently and these videos have been amazing, awesome work
I also like the ending, ( outro ) I like the jackery review again, I just got done watching your cost for 3 years video., like it was interesting ...
I used your links to buy a bluetti eb150 for an amazing price. Thank you very much for the discount and information
Love your sense of humor it gets me every time and of course your information is incredibly useful matter fact I’m applying it to my own electric property maintenance business and my camping set up
Thanks for the review. I really like the Jackery line up. Also looking at the new Bluetti as well.
Professor, have you thought about reviewing the Sungzu 1000? I have heard good reviews about it and I actually bought one given the huge amount of power outages in my country. I found it at a good price here and I am expecting it to arrive this week.
Excellent demos - makes it so easy to understand. Thank you!
Priceless.
Always watching! Hello to Heidi, hugs and kissies to Odin and Thor!
Thank you...good information for someone like me learning, with these battery generator and solar panels.
this video finally made me understand watts. took me too long but thank you.
Mr. buddy is my favorite heater!
I can't spell nor do i have proper grammar, but a lot of that was autocorrect sorry have/has
Very practical video.
Great job FINALLY the truth about run times
Love your new outtro! Great footage! Glad Thor didn't bite your face off! You talked me into the Jacker 1000! Thanks!
I like the old outro better ! But just my opinion ! Great video review !
Interesting and cool. Looking forward to the Bluetti 1500 video
Awesome video. A lot of great info. You answered my question about jackary and small air conditioning unit 👍👍
I'm glad I found this channel!!
Excellent reviews? The Jackery seems to fulfill many needs.
Hallo prof ,
You are funny ,serious and ( of course ) well educated .
Thanks a lot. 👍🏼
Watching this in 2022 with gas prices. Hits different.
I LOVE this, saved it to 3 different places. Thank you
I saved it in two different places.
Super Juicy power option with that 2000w surge.
HOBO, you are a smart man!
Hi Hobo! Which would you currently recommend for a small off grid cabin? Also would one run a clothes dryer?
Wow love the way you break it down. Been searching for answers (like with Jack run an air conditioner day n night but you were the only one that spelled it out. Could not find that video you said you did on generator that will run air conditioner 24/7 but cant find it. Also wanted to know which air conditioner is best. Thankyou so very much.
Search YT or my channel for "hobotech air conditioner". The model a/c like everything else is on hobotech.tv/amazon
Electric blankets pull about 60 watts. They run all night!
The bluetti is pricey but nice too
Goal Zero has no interest in sending me products. I tried twice. They are overpriced and dead slow to charge anyway.
@@HOBOTECH O crap, what was the recall on? Jackery or bluetti?
My Bluetti 2400 will run by portable induction cooktop on level two which draws 700 Watts. I'm able to boil water to make ramen and can soups and spaghetti.
That's good to know!
Thank you I have a diesel heater an was wondering how it would work cuz I read it can use up to 11.5 amps at start up. I seen a video were he tested it and with the glow plug on it was using 10.7 amps. Now I feel better about getting a solar generator.
For personal heater I use a v12 car heater in my van it uses 50watts/h ,it’s sufficient
