Dude, hands down you’re the best “how to” RUclips’r I’ve seen yet. I watch TONS of dmax videos and am in the process of rebuilding my LBZ currently as well. Your very precise at explaining what’s what and for that I thank you. Keep up the great content brother!
You need to get you a coolant tank now and a ppe oil fill cap to finish her off!! Looks great I have been looking at those ppe radiator hoses also so thank you for the video!!!
Yeah ive been thinkin about other stuff like that for sure haha. I recommend the hoses for sure its a nice kit. Im glad you liked the video man thanks for watchin!
There is a plug it’s on the passenger side behind the fender well, it’s a plastic screw off the radiator. I’ve seen on the lb7 but I haven’t looked on my lbz but worth a check
I think greasing the clamps also helps with corrosion over time and adhering to the silicone hose itself causing damage when trying to remove them down the road.
I know what cover you mean that is on the Lb7 and lly but the lbz doesn’t have a cover like that. It was a tight fit but i think you could play around with it if you had to
I did the HSP thermostat housing over the weekend. I'm curious how you'll like the coolant lines and drain. Merchant told me to keep everything stock or expect leaks as temperature changes. Perhaps that only apply to the drain with stock hoses. I saw, after the install, that LBZ vans have a forward facing coolant housing that would bolt up just the same. Being able to burp it might be worth keeping the OEM?
The lines have been good so far. A lot more heavy duty thats for sure. I haven’t had any leaks and the temps have fluctuated from 80 to low 30s since we are in fall and haven’t had a leak yet. I dont drive through winter though. I personally think the drain is a must because the duramaxs are awful to try and drain. I actually threaded a brass plug in the drain too just in case that valve was to leak or get bumped I wouldn’t lose my coolant. I had a lot of trouble filling it back up with coolant so the bleed hole on the old housing helps but we ended up getting a tool that vacuums the air out of your cooling system and then pulls the coolant into the system. By far the way to do coolant on any vehicle. The kit was like $130 i think
@@jordancampbell3723 -- That's a slick setup for sure. I think your kit will hold up, those hoses are great quality and makes it look really clean. I'm currently dealing with the rear block off plate coolant leak ---so---I've found that idling to temperature isn't enough. You have to run it around the block and allow the system to circulate the coolant so that you can add more. Anyway, side question for you--after you did the egr delete is there a harness did you replace the harness or hide the unused wires on the harness? Thanks for the videos.
I totally agree man the stuff is great quality for sure! With the egr there was only like 2 plugs i think on these older trucks so I just taped mine up real good and then tucked them on the passenger side of the engine
@@jordancampbell3723 -- Interesting...I need to do that. What tape did you use? I think I'd like to used more of the wrap that OEM uses to protect the wires and then use a split wrap to dress it up more, just not sure what that wrap is called or where to get it. BTW, since you've done the coolant drain kit you might as well install a fumoto drain valve on your oil pan. Think it's an fumoto f106 but double check.
I believe when i did that it was just normal electrical tape. But at the shop we use tesa tape. By far the way to go. Holds up way better and looks way better. Ive heard of those fumoto valves before. I used something similar to that on my mower because its real hard to get to the oil drain
how have the radiator hoses held up for you any problems with leaks at the fittings thinking about the ppe iI'm between that and the mishimoto $100 difference between the two thanks
Good video. I want to see you fill it up and run it because these ppe's have complaints of not sealing and puking coolant. It would be great to know about that as there about 100 dollars more expensive.
my lb7 has a drain plug on the passenger side of the lower rad. its still not in an amazing spot though, just crack the res cap a little bit, pull the plug and SLOWLY let a little more air in through the res cap, and you can thread the needle through the bs down there into a 5 gallon bucket
@@jordancampbell3723 My 2004 Duramax has it but it is misinformation on your Video that perturbs me as I wasted a bunch of time trying to get that bottom hose to drain. Being black and not having the best lighting it is easy to overlook. PLEASE NOTE ON YOUR VIDEO THAT CERTAIN UNITS DO HAVE THE DRAIN. Preferably for the duration of your misinformed audio comments.
Well I sure have chased them all over the place. I blue RTV sealed mine and it’s still fricken leakin… leaked since day one and after the second time I took them off I made sure to put enough gasket sealer on them that I’d have to cut them off…
It was a lot of trial and error man! Even some stuff on the truck now was done long enough ago im like wow thats all i had i guess haha. Its a good reminder of where i was and where i stand now! Always tryin to improve. Wire loom is your best friend!
@@jordancampbell3723 you ain’t kiddin on the wire loom, I just ended up buying 100ft of it on wholesale cause I know that between all my company trucks it’ll eventually be used
From the cooling system stuff not So much. Just looks and slightly lower tenps due to the t stats. The fuel stuff yes you get rid of a lot of fuel restrictions!
Getting that hose on the water pump is a fuckin disgusting mess. Petroleum jelly on the pump and inside hose ? Yeah, not happening, LOL!!! Best advice do 50 pushups for a nice pump, then try.

Such a clean truck!
My LLY has a plug on the radiator. Passenger side, remove the fender well 😉
Wow that’s a nice clean engine I love the color new subscriber 🎉❤
On the lly gmc you got a plug on the right bottom
Correct unfortunately they did away with that on the newer trucks
Damn, that’s a very clean engine. Very nice!
Thank you!
I put a kit on one of my customers trucks really nice setup. Like the Lml’s upper radiator hose setup.
Yepp i agree its a great setup for sure
Did you upgrade your Trans cooler lines? Can you show us if you did that?

did you have trouble with the fitting on the radiator, i have the notches lined up and it still won't close completely no matter how hard i try
Thats a nice truck
There is a plug it’s on the passenger side behind the fender well, it’s a plastic screw off the radiator. I’ve seen on the lb7 but I haven’t looked on my lbz but worth a check
I know exactly what plug you are talkin about but unfortunately the lbz doesn’t have it
I think greasing the clamps also helps with corrosion over time and adhering to the silicone hose itself causing damage when trying to remove them down the road.
Absolutely that is another nice thing about it
Are you putting the brake grease in hose or on the clamps?
on the inside of the clamps
Did the pressure problem go away after you put in the thermostats because my truck is having the same issue and it’s not the head gasket
It helped but ive come to the conclusion i think my gaskets just have a very small leak but nothing major so im putting it off until im ready to do it
did you take off the tcm cover?> to put that hsp kit on? i thought there was a black plastic cover over it originally. at least on my lb7 there is
I know what cover you mean that is on the Lb7 and lly but the lbz doesn’t have a cover like that. It was a tight fit but i think you could play around with it if you had to

I got my orange radiator hoses last week haha
Good stuff there haha

@@jordancampbell3723 thanks brotha. Got my stuff on the way. I'm going in deep doing crank seals etc and while im there...
Oh man haha that will be fun! Wise choice though doin it while you are there!
There is a petcock on the passenger side of the radiator you twist and it drains the coolant out

In order to have the thermo kit. Do I need an aftermarket turbo?
Nope it will work with your factory turbo!

With doing all of this did you see a change in running temperatures
From doing the low temp t stats yes. The hottest it really gets now is like 190! It runs around 175-180 most of the time
“It wasn’t good, it was head gaskets”
My oil full neck that HSP sent does not keep my oil cap secured like the LBZ neck did. Does yours have notches to screw the cap down?
So far i have had much of an issue. Id have to look at it again to be sure though i can’t remember. But i do kind of think i know what you mean
@@jordancampbell3723 thanks. Maybe a video on it? That’s the only issue I have with my kit. The cap can’t be secured like with the stock full tube.

Looks like the hose is pretty flappy that runs across under the truck, probably have to replicate how the original was secured
