- In Stage #9, we discover (and overcome) rot, prep and install the rear door and complete the flooring. These are the final jobs, ready for the next stage - Insulation.
Rot is a campervan's worst nightmare, and we found it. Luckily, it was fixable by building a new door, simple!! Like any camper conversion, plans can change, so it's a good idea to include a few 'floating' days into your conversion plan/schedule.
We used 15mm plywood as our flooring, resting on the 47x47mm timber floor batons. We tested other thicknesses of plywood sheet and discovered that 18mm ply was too heavy and 12mm ply was too flexible.
Also, we found a door, prepped it, painted it and installed it.
We made this video to help novice and experienced installers alike.
Each step details what WE did to OUR Luton campervan, be aware that other Luton vans could be slightly different.

nails for the door hinges screws people screews🎉
Which side is better to have side door on to the box? Can you please let me know the pros & cons? Regards
Hi, we haven't come across any issues having our door on the L/H side. If the van is UK registered then it's most likely the side door will be on the L/H side because that's the curb side.
Sorry we can't give any more advice.
are you going to put decking and solar panels on the roof?
Lots of solar on the roof but no decking because the roof isn't weight bearing.
