Iowa is known as their best album for a reason. Every song is filled with pure rage.
Iowa and all hope is gone are their 2 masterpieces by far!
Corey says this was his only real suicide attempt. The girl dumped him and he took all of his grandma's pills and just laid on the floor, then the girl's mother randomly showed up because she knew he'd be upset and she's the one that got him to the hospital. "I think I'm gonna be sick and it's your fault" is totally about having to drink the ipecac.
Now you're reminding me of that one Family Guy episode.

this song helped me through a very rough post-breakup phase back when the record came out.

The whole adoption thing isn't a million miles out, as at this point in his life Corey had never met his father. Some of the band's earlier songs touch on this, and famously 'Eyeless'.
Diluted and metabolic are mostly about it, in eyeless I can think about 1 line that's about it("I'm my father's son" line)
Did he ever get to meet his father later in life?

This song was like in the early middle of the album, Iowa just didn't fucking give up. You guys NEED to do the last title track of it, but yeah Iowa was the album where they were pissed off at everything, everybody, themselves and each other.
This was the 5th track on Iowa. The last track, #14, is the titular song “Iowa”. The track after this is titled the Heretic Anthem. Another banger!!

This is probably my favorite of iowa. The opening line, the topic (corey contemplating suicide at one point in his life) and the straight hatred and angst that comes with it, the breakdown, it's just awesome.
As others have pointed out, the legendary "iowa" ends this album and I think you guys are ready because it is very rough the first time.
And considering you guys love to hear about the band and the opening question was about their numbers, I would consider recommending something a little left field which is one of their earliest interviews. So this was not the last song on the Iowa album but I agree it would've fit there. Although this song is about some serious stuff, I did crack up when Smokey said it could be about someone being adopted.😂😂

I accidentally stumbled into the Mushroomhead vs Slipknot beef back in the day. Knew of MH first, went to my first SK show wearing the shirt. But everyone cooled off pretty quick and was super cool. I just wanted to mosh (and was probably the biggest guy there lol)
the beef never should've happened, this was fans getting way too fuckin' defensive, now if shit was talked between the bands that would be one thing, but they merely co-existed and that was enough for fans to start getting tribal, glad that's over because i enjoy both bands and neither of them really copy anything, they simply started as large bands who wore masks.

Love this week's choice. Always yelling "The Nameless" until it happens. Off of Vol 3. with a great call and response style, beautiful choruses, and (my personal favorite) heavy breakdowns with snare rolls. Imo perfectly showcases all of Slipknots best talents.
Please do a reaction to "The Floods" by Pantera. It's Dimebag Darrell's musical masterpiece. The solo will literally make your jaw drop. And the outro solo will make you tear up knowing what happened to Dime.

I highly recommend the band *American Head Charge* . It’s similar to Slipknot in some ways. The song “Dirty” is dope and a guarantee headbanger. 🤘🤘

As someone who is adopted yeaaaahhhhhhhhhh nooooooooo. Honestly I would equate "Left Behind" more to adoption than this one. Talking about how a lot of us (adoptees) feel like our parents abandoned us.
Haven't looked into it, but to me, it sounds like more of a "I'm sick of all you fake @$$ MFs" and is talking about ending someone's life, either the other person or his own. Again that's what I got out of it. LOL

The making of this album almost killed Corey Taylor. His mind was in such a bad place it almost destroyed him. He said it. I absolutely love this album but i know the toll it took on him and the rest of the band. I know where their mind was because I've been there and it leads to self destruction. It's giving me so much. People=Shit. I had something tangible to reach out to in my bad times.
