I know you talked about the elevation gain over 5 miles, but I feel like you should have called out the (what seems to be) mile of constant inclined switchbacks. That gets pretty rough on the knees and a good chunk of odd body parts, especially walking down (at least for me). I had to walk backwards for a small chunk just to give my body a rest from balancing me at a tilted angle for so long. But it was nice to rest at the top. It is a beautiful view.

I was wondering about the stacks of rocks on the summit. Is that something hikers do everywhere? On Mount Leconte, in the East Tennessee Smoky Mountains where I’m from, each hiker leaves a rock in a large stack at the summit. I would highly recommend traveling here and hiking it, if you get a chance.
