I did the climb several years ago. Believe it or not, there was an older couple - he was 81 and she was 73 - at the summit. They were there for their anniversary and they shared with the group while at the summit that every year for their anniversary they would travel to a destination with some of the tallest high rise buildings in the world. He had been a pilot so they traveled widely. Each anniversary they would go to the roof tops of the buildings and dance. Obviously there was no music on the top of Angel's Landing, so me and another guy (complete stranger) decided we would sing 'Let Me Call You Sweetheart' so the couple could embrace for one more sky-high dance. We didn't know all the words, but we did the best we could and the older couple held one another tightly and danced away. It was really one of those moments that make you feel so human, and so alive.
Omg I am so glad you made it through safely it's not always about knowing your limits because the mountains are always moving and they don't care about your limits just be safe out there
Thank you for sharing your adventurous hike with us. At 74 years, I totally enjoyed the amazing views without any of the risk. Thank you so much for such amazing, exciting views.
Equally beautiful and frightening at the same time. Thank you Josh for doing the leg work and braving the terrain for us. I’m with Pops and would have stopped at Scouts. But thanks to your video we all were able to enjoy the views. Thanks!
I was raised in a nearby town, St. George, and now live in Hurricane. I have spent my how life exploring and enjoying Zions. However, I've never gone past Scouts Landing due to my fear of heights. Thank you for taking me to the top as I've always wanted to go! It is breathtakingly beautiful! I feel like I finally got to hike it through you!
I needed a trip to get away from the city and we will be leaving Utah in a few hours. Zion is so majestic and beautiful and it just saddens me that I'm leaving this afternoon. Anyway, I'm staying in La Verkin and I loved the scenic drive. See you next time, Utah!
I did this hike a few years ago. I stopped at the overlook but my daughter continued on to the chains. I remember those switchbacks well. Thanks for sharing.
I last hiked Angel's Landing in 2012. I hate heights (especially when there is a 1200 drop six feet away), but once I am able to put the fear in the back of my mind, I can concentrate on carefully moving forward. Incredible views.
I did Angels Landing the first day it opened back up during COVID . Thank you for the 360 camera because it is very hard to explain to my family just how scary it really is. It is not for the faint of heart.
Many props to pops for going on a portion of the hike. That is some devotion. Just looking at the video scared me. Not for the faint of heart. Great video as always
I'm not afraid of heights *normally* however, that spine section, how narrow it is, just watching you do it made me burst into spontaneous sweat. Thank YOU for doing it for me, since I am sure now this is one trail I do not think I can complete.
It's actually not that bad. The spine is wide enough for 1 person to go through even without holding the chains. The chain lengths are fixed, people stop from point to point to let people pass.
Kudos to you for being able to do this! I would absolutely love to, but my fear of heights would not let me, I freak out just watching this video, I'd definitely stop where your Dad did and soak in the spectacular views from there. Beautiful video Josh!
So glad to see this as I would never have hiked it, even in my youth! I don't do well with heights. I enjoyed (somewhat, lol) watching you hike it, as I knew you made it down ok or the video would not be up...
Just came back from climbing Angel’s landing about 2 weeks ago and it was simply amazing! You did a great job captivating the trail. I’m going to use this video to show my friends what the hike looked like.
Hi Josh Lots of people have done Angels Landing videos but yours was hands down the best I have seen. I always like your videos always informative. Thanks
Did the Angels landing trail on Saturday. Absolutely incredible! Good callout that the 360 videos make it seem scarier than it actually is. The view at the end was unbelievable. Thanks for walking us through it again!
I’ve been to Zion twice. Going back in July. This further solidifies me NOT doing this hike 😂 This is the BEST video of the hike though. Kudos to you for this great footage and for braving this hike 👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I did this hike back in 2016, in August. We went to Zion without knowing anything about it, and we had only one day to spend there. We chose Angels Landing based on the lenght, because the promised 4-5 hours was a good fit in our time schedule. We started 6 of us, but 4 of us stopped at the lookout. Me and my buddy went on the top. It was one of the best decision that I ever made in my life. For me Angel's Landing deff triumphed Horseshoe, grand canyon or any other beautiful hike.
My experience was similar. Wasn't really familiar with Zion at all. Thus I didn't come prepared to do the narrows. I did do Angels landing. It was scary going up, because I was a little worried about getting back down those narrow slippery paths, but it was actually a breeze coming down as it turned out.. I think it only took 45 min to descend. That was back in 2007 ish. I considered turning around at the Lookout, but glad I pushed on. It was a highlight of my trip.
I've seen many videos of this amazing location, but this one is easily the best one.. that really provides helpful tips and epic videography.. the 360 camera was a huge plus to show never before captured (so well) angles of the last portions of the climb.
I have done this trail multiple times, including running it first thing in the morning. One thing about the West if you are not from here: just because there are signs and chains does not mean it is not genuinely dangerous. Maintain situational awareness, and you should be fine. This is an excellent video!
I do not regret that I did not go all the way up and stopped at the overlook point. It was the best decision that you climbed in Februry, for we were there in late September and the last climb were still congested, way too many die-hard enthusiastists. Thanks for your clip, it's awesome!
Thanks for the video! I did watch your videos before I planned my trip to Utah and they were very helpful. We hiked till Scouts lookout and views were amazing. We didn’t do the last part of the hike as it was too steep and felt v dangerous. We followed our inner instincts but we did enjoy the beautiful Zion! Can’t wait to go back!
I still remember my husband, me, 8years old son and 3 years old daughter went there in 2019. Yes, it was so crowded, specially in the last mile that need grab the chain. We gave up since it was so dangerous and crowded. Hope we can go back and do it again! Nice view! Really worthy!!!
Thankful to say I had the opportunity to complete this trail last summer. It is dangerous forsure, but with common sense and solid physical health it is completely safe. Not for those with a fear of heights or out of shape. Zion park instituted a permit system this year for hikers on this trail. Trail is not as scary as wide angle cameras on RUclips make it seem.
It's smart to stop when it's individually, too challenging.👏 WOW, this is definitely not for the faint of heart. I'm happy you accomplished your goal, for the second time. I know that it's not for me. a great job🤗👏
Thank you for taking me there. Had heard of Angel's Landing but never thought to look it up. Definitely not going there anytime soon. Beautiful to see from here.
There's a reason this looks so scary - because it is. I did in back in the mid 90's and you didn't have to have a permit. I'm going in June and now you need a permit which is a bummer, but the National parks have just gotten so crowded they have to do this. EDIT: Went back last week and won the lottery! It was just as scary the 2nd time. The part you cover with the selfie stick @ the 8:08 mark is definitely the most terrifying. I didn't think the vertical section was as bad. There isn't anything too technical about the trail, but it is very mentally challenging.
Welcome to Utah. I live here!! I hiked Angel's Landing many years ago. We also did the West Rim trail on another trip. I highly recommend it to you and Pops. It's a one way hike where we paid somebody to pick us up at the campground and drive us all the way to the start of the trail (1 hr drive). It was such a stunning hike and you get views that you would never get normally in Zion. Thanks for giving Utah a nod. We have so many amazing trails, parks here. (FYI: Bryce is a favorite.. in the winter. They have an annual Pres Weekend family festival. Come back). Cheers
My sister and I did this hike in the middle 1990s. It was pretty different. There was almost no one else int he park and we parked at the base of the cliff. The trail was longer and no pavement that i recall and the chains were on he other side. Neither of us normally has a fear of heights, but one of us froze up and the way up and the other on the way down. What broke me out of my panic attack was a Dad and his 12 year old son who just sort of skipped around us as I clung to the chain for dear life unable to move for a few minutes. I cannot imagine how you would do this holding a camera the whole way. Not a chance I would do that. Next go do the Subway trail top down. It is a more exciting trail, not as scary but harder.
Absolutely stunning trail. The beauty of Zion National Park is mind boggling. I would never walk this trail as I'm afraid of heights. Thank you so much Josh for uploading this amazing video!
Great video. I did this hike all the way to the top with my three sons in Oct 2021 and again in March 2022. It was fantastic. Definitely was a bucket list must do. The hike looks much more scary than it was. The chains helped provide a sense of security. The view from the very top is breath taking.
WoW! Kudos for undertaking that hike! And big Kudos for Pops making it that far! I’d have laid down on my stomach and screamed for rescue LOL! (Native Utahn here. We don’t do that hike. Kidding.)
Wowww!!! I did angels landing before pandemic but I made it only by where u left ur dad waiting for u. And I love the fact that u make ur self so ear on everything the highs and everything I love ur videos. Congrats on the angel landing hike. Let's se when would u do a video of how to get to habasu falls. I believe is called.
I was working at that lodge you parked at in the video at the time you were there lol. I had done angel’s landing in January before the permit was required. Beautiful views.
Oh man we were in the park in April and I was feeling it in my stomach for folks just watching them from the shuttle! My daughter asked what all those colors were on the top and I said “People” she screamed and said, “wow they are crazy”haha. You captured it beautifully 👏👏👏👏
Appreciate this so much! Just hiked it last Thursday and pictures just did not fully capture the experience. So enjoyed hiking along virtually with you.
I have hiked up to Scout’s lookout 3 times in my life. I couldn’t even begin the final 0.5 mile to Angel’s Landing. Thanks for the video. At least I can see I was right in not going on.
Thanks for a great video! My friend & I were there last month. Great hike to Scout's Lookout. We didn't win any tickets to hike to Angel's Landing -- but once we were there and saw how narrow the trail was and the steep drop offs -- we were definitely OK with not having won any in the new lottery system!! Beautiful National Park!!
I'm glad you did such a superb job photographing the ascent past Scout's Lookout because I'm sure the heck not ever going to hike it that far, but I'm actually relieved you didn't film the descent. The last thing you needed to be doing coming *down* that insane trail was compromising your balance by waving a selfie stick around.😱
Greyhound - love the 360° stuff. The permits will really make this a better experience and less dangerous hike. Magellan - no no no no and no. I’ll hang out with Pops. Just no. Great video
glad you made this video. Recently went to zion with my grandfather and he said that he wouldn't be able to do angel's landing and i wanted to see what it looked like at the top.
I have a fear of heights but had no problem doing this hike at 59 years old; however, my wife turned around after the first 5 minutes. I was surprised at how few hikers were going up. I wore bike gloves and they worked GREAT. My Suunto watch had trouble triangulating in the canyon and my end graph was way off for mileage and elevation. Also, we both really enjoyed the Observation Point hike from the East Mesa Trail. Thanks!
Wow the final part of the trail is really scary. I would never do it.. I am a big time acrophobic (also claustrophobic like your dad).. but still an amazing view thru out the trail.. I am starting to be addicted to your channel.
I live in Utah and have done it a bunch of time. The last time was in the winter on day much like the one you show. It was before the permits and even in January there were were TONS of people climbing all over each other and that made it super scary. Not that I felt I was going to fall, but that I was going to see some random 12 year old fall (worse!). So I'm super glad they now limit the lemmings with a permit. Wait your turn and be thankful for it. Maybe I'll go back now because it is an incredible trail!
Angel's landing has been on my bucket list for a few years now. I would imagine it's scarier going down than going up. Great job on the video with the 3D camera. ~Lucy
I love this video. You did such a great job of capturing the hike and the amazing scenery. I went several years ago with my brother, sis-in-law and then 11 year old nephew. Sis-in-law and I waited at Scout Overlook, while brother and nephew continued up. I tried to work up the courage to go to the top, but just got a few feet along the chains and turned around. We got there early, so not too many people, but I realized that by the time we were coming back down, crowds would probably be headed up, and I'd have to share that narrow trail with passing hikers. That was all it took for me to make the decision stop. As you mention, Scout Overlook is amazing on it's own, with spectacular views, and totally worth the hike, even if you don't plan to go all the way to Angels Landing.
We were just in Zion and decided to hike the Narrows, but next time we're absolutely going to try Angel's Landing. We love your videos - it was a lot of fun knowing we recently crossed paths.
I had a permit and almost turned around at the tree seen at 8:29 🙈 it’s almost straight up and I had no idea how I was going to get back down. So happy I made it all the way to the top! But those switchbacks at the very beginning up to scouts lookout are BRUTAL!
Same here, I almost stopped at scouts lookout, but I heard another group of hikers speak to each other about not having regret tommorow morning..so I became encouraged from them to finish it.
Been there Las week Sunday, stopped at Scout since we didn’t have a permit. Would be exciting but view around the top was just perfect , did a lot of pics as we go up then down again. Try it you folks and wear trail or hike shoes for a good grip.
This is so beautiful! I really want to hike all the way to the summit, but the fact that I’m getting a fear of heights just by watching this video suggests to me otherwise.. 😂
So glad I found your video, it's very informative and the views are stunning! I was at Zion NP in March but didn't get to do any hikes along the scenic drive due to a late start. Hoping my next visit I will be able to hike Angels Landing. Thank you! 🙏
Kudos for making the hike. I did the hikes in Zion except this one. My fear of heights would have made that a bad idea. However, I was proud to have made that last curve to get to Delicate Arch in Arches. My family was shocked I did it. I wanted a photo after that long hike. I just hugged the side and walked slow. I about crapped my pants.
I have to hike it again this year. It'll be my first under the permit system, which is a must need. It gets crowded. Zion, was the busiest national park last year behind great smoky mountains. Crazy. This hike is epic though. Glad you enjoyed it. I think this one is more dangerous than half dome, even though I haven't hiked it yet. Plan on it next year if I'm lucky to grab a permit lol
I did the climb several years ago. Believe it or not, there was an older couple - he was 81 and she was 73 - at the summit. Thanks for the encouragement.
That is so awesome, sir.😃👍
Is part of this trail even close to a knife edge
@@Linda-wz4mz A good part of it was knife edge. Very dicey, especially coming down of the plateau.
Omg I am so glad you made it through safely it's not always about knowing your limits because the mountains are always moving and they don't care about your limits just be safe out there

Yea, I agree, you really need something like the 360 camera to be able to see how nuts it is haha

Who did the Angels landing trail? Was it you?
I’ve been to Zion twice. Going back in July. This further solidifies me NOT doing this hike 😂 This is the BEST video of the hike though. Kudos to you for this great footage and for braving this hike 👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I give you all the props for doing this. I couldn’t even finish the video because of my fear of heights…and more specifically cliff edges. Bravo man
I did this hike back in 2016, in August. We went to Zion without knowing anything about it, and we had only one day to spend there. Wow! Incredible video. Thank you for sharing! I know I will never do this hike, but your video and descriptions made me feel like I was there
I’ve watched numerous videos of this trail. Yours is one of the BEST!!
As someone who IS afraid of heights I got nervous just watching! Great video and great views! Thx
Well done. We were just there and went up to Scouts landing and it was amazing. Kudos to those who climb up to Angels Landing, that’s a big deal.
I wouldn’t be able to hike not even 1/4 mile on these narrow and steep trails! This is a stunning video. What a masterpiece you made, Josh!
Great video Josh. I’ll definitely look to go here when I do my USA retirement Roadtrip in a few years time. Looks amazing!!!
I still remember my husband, me, 8years old son and 3 years old daughter went there in 2019. Yes, it was so crowded, specially in the last mile that need grab the chain. We gave up since it was so dangerous and crowded. Hope we can go back and do it again! Nice view! Really worthy!!!
Excellent video. Glad I made this hike to the top when I was younger and no permits needed.
Worth every step of the way.

Best video I have seen so far showing the trip up to Angel's landing.
wow, that's amazing. I just got my permits by email, and my palms are sweating just watching your video! Oh boy.

Glad you liked it. I did Havasu Falls a long time ago, I would love to get back there
Great job on the video! Best one for Zion Park I’ve seen by far! Never been there but def know it’s above my limits! Thanks for sharing with us!!
Awesome video!! think this is one of the best video that you have posted so far. Thank you!

haha yep, all gear was put away for the descent!
Thanks for another great video. Loved the 360 view. I hiked this in 1975 and thank you for reminding me how it was.
That's awesome you have done it!
It is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I am old and don't like heights anyway
Greyhound - love the 360° stuff. The permits will really make this a better experience and less dangerous hike.

haha I totally understand Magellan, its a crazy one!
glad you made this video. Recently went to zion with my grandfather and he said that he wouldn't be able to do angel's landing and i wanted to see what it looked like at the top.
Wow incredible views!! 👌👌😀😀thank you for this great video! 🙏🙏On my bucket list to hick this amazing trail!
OMG 😱 You deserve a reward!
I have a fear of heights but had no problem doing this hike at 59 years old; however, my wife turned around after the first 5 minutes. I was surprised at how few hikers were going up. Incredibly beautiful views but scary as hell. Thanks so much for sharing, guys!👍
~Lucy
Yea, going down really lets you see how crazy it is
So happy they have a permit now. Two years ago I went and this place was dangerously packed full of people.
Amazing video thsnk you for taking us along since I could never do that amazing and yes SCARY trail.
Wow! Great video sir! To hike that dangerous and crazy hike with a camera on hand is totally amazing! Thanks you for sharing. 😎👍
We were just in Zion and decided to hike the Narrows, but next time we're absolutely going to try Angel's Landing. We love your videos - it was a lot of fun knowing we recently crossed paths.
Amazing video! Scary hike. And really appreciate the warnings of the danger and the beauty of Angels Landing.
I was looking forward to this video and it was just as stunning and hair-raising as I thought. Now to go to Zion.
Love your video, I really want to hike Angeles landing. I just did California coast last month. This is on my bucket list.
That is so scared. I will never do that. I can barely watched that. Thanks for sharing
I had to push my chair back from desk watching this video. I can't deal with heights at all. Lemme take a Xanax before you finish your hike. LOL
Beautiful! Amazing vid and views. Don’t think I could do that trail as I’m getting dizzy watching those heights.
Scary 😨 to say the least, yet Beautiful!
Thank you for the tips and information...
Great video. Thanks! The climb up into one of the Zion shuttle buses is high enough for me. 😊
haha I know what you mean!
Very helpful especially as we're planning to do this tomorrow. Thank you
Thank you Josh !!!
Amazing hike, I got the pleasure to do this in 2016. Well worth the time
Loved Zion! Too old, however, to do the hike. Your videos are fantastic and I thank you for sharing!
Been there Las week Sunday, stopped at Scout since we didn’t have a permit. Would be exciting but view around the top was just perfect , did a lot of pics as we go up then down again. Try it you folks and wear trail or hike shoes for a good grip.
Bro! cant wait to get home and watch this! hope to see more from this trip! keep up the good work
What a wonderful scenery!!!!
Thanks for sharing👍👍
An amazing hike thank you for sharing a bucket list hike
Just great The mule deer are frisky. Keep safe.
Thank you! 🙏
Thanks for sharing this incredible Angels Landing Trail Hike, otherwise I would never made it to the Top !
Woooow..i would love to do this! Thanks for sharing your amazing adventures!
Great video, best I've seen for this route. I definitely have to do it next time I'm down there!
Appreciate that! I hope you can do it next time!
Incredible stuff,Thanks for taking me along on your adventure.
Yea, they are very different. Half Dome seems a little crazier because it is so exposed with nothing around you but granite and it is pretty steep
Thanks for sharing. Very informative with great shots!
That’s such a crazy hike. I would love to do it one day. How long did it take you to hike round trip?
It took about 3.5-4 hours for us but I stop a lot for photos and videos haha
@@ThroughMyLens I’m the same way!
Amazing views .. great work getting up there 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Your 360 was incredible! Thanks
